Below is a brief description of the qualifications and responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual applying for this position must have proven leadership skills in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, improving student achievement/performance, and building effective community/school relationships. The principal will report to the President of Pinecrest Academy, Inc. and work in conjunction with the Educational Service Provider, Academica.
- Master’s Degree or higher required; or be in progress of earning degree
- Hold a current FL Educational Leadership Certificate; or be in progress of earning certificate.
- Preferred three years of successful experience as an assistant principal or school administrator
- Preferred five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher in the United States
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate the academic progress made by students
- Knowledge and/or experience with charter schools is desirable, but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, evaluate and lead teachers in developing a culture in line with the mission and values of the district
- Design and ensure coordination of the academic program
- Approve reports or data submissions required by law
- Coordinate student and teacher programming, including curriculum development
- Manage everyday operations including crisis management and life safety compliance
- Implement state testing requirements
- Work with parents and teachers to provide differentiation where necessary to meet the needs of students not achieving expectations
- Cultivate community partnerships
- Student Performance
- Work with teachers to continually assess and evaluate teaching performance and student results
- Work with parents to achieve maximum involvement in order to ensure student performance
- Site Management and Administration
- Ensure compliance with funding sources and regulatory requirements pursuant to state law and regulations as directed by the Board
- Act as Instructional Leader
- Provide instructional leadership in advancing proven teaching and learning practices
- Observe classes regularly
- Lead data-driven discussions about student performance
- Develop long and short-term plans for individual teachers to address deficits and build on strengths of teaching strategies
- Establish a culture of professionalism among staff
- Manage fiscal responsibilities
- Execute the budget approved by the Board
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and reporting requirements
