Perioperative Registered Nurse (Pre-Op, Circulator, PACU)

Job Title: Perioperative Registered Nurse- PRN

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

About Us: Join our elite cosmetic plastic surgery team, where we provide world-class care and personalized services in a luxurious setting. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the natural beauty of our clients with the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic perioperative team. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across the entire surgical journey, from pre-admission through post-anesthesia recovery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. **Must possess at least 5 years of perioperative work experience (OR Circulator/PACU). Must provide a minimum of 3 professional references upon application.***

Responsibilities:

Pre-Anesthesia (Pre-Op):

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including patient history, medication reconciliation, and physical examinations.
Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative expectations.
Prepare patients for surgery, including verifying consents, completing pre-operative checklists, and ensuring proper identification.
Initiate and manage intravenous lines and administer pre-operative medications as prescribed.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow.
Address patient anxieties and provide emotional support.

Operating Room (Circulator):

Serve as the patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and maintaining a sterile environment.
Coordinate and manage the operating room, including preparing the room, gathering supplies, and ensuring equipment functionality.
Verify patient identification, surgical site, and procedure according to established protocols.
Document all intraoperative activities, including medications, procedures, intake/output, and patient responses.
Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide assistance as required.
Maintain accurate and complete records.
Ensure proper specimen handling.
Initiate and manage foley catheter as ordered.

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU):

Provide immediate post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs, airway management, and pain control.
Assess patient recovery from anesthesia and monitor for potential complications.
Administer post-operative medications and treatments as prescribed.
Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during the recovery phase.
Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the surgical team.
Assess patient readiness for discharge and ensure safe transfer to appropriate care areas.

Qualifications:

Current unencumbered license by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Minimum 5 years of perioperative nursing experience, including pre-op, circulating, and PACU.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
