OVERVIEW

Advanced Diagnostics Healthcare System is an independent, physician-led and patient-centered organization of hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers in Texas. JOB SUMMARY

The Controller in this position is a CPA who has worked in hospital/healthcare, and will be responsible for leading the Accounting Team and developing and maintaining close working relationships with the Executive Management Team, Corporate Department Heads, Hospitals & Clinics Leadership, providing financial expertise on operating results, key performance indicators, and other financial analysis, as well as ensuring all internal and external financial information is completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. Demonstrated effectiveness in a growing organization with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities. Must stay close to and agile with the details.

The incumbent Must be proficient or become proficient in hospital and clinic operating processes and systems functionality and understand impact on Company controls and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for leading the Accounting Team consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies set by the Chairman and Chief Financial Officer.
Review operating results and key performance indicators with Hospital & Clinics Leadership and obtains management explanations for significant anomalies and variances.
Prepare accounting policies and procedures to define and document accounting processes. Evaluate accounting processes and related internal controls in order to ensure adherence to company policies and safeguard cash and company assets.
Manage the company’s cash flow, working capital, and banking
Assists IT in evaluating the (ERP) system functionality and related processes to ensure transactions are recorded correctly, identify and understand system functionality weaknesses.
Provides auditors with requested client assistance including business process flow, financial process documentation, balance sheet account reconciliations, comparative financial information, and supplemental financial schedules.

Addresses all audit comments to identify any internal control weaknesses and implements corrective actions to fully address the underlying problems and prevents a repeat occurrence.
Maintain Tax Calendar ensuring federal income taxes, state franchise taxes, property taxes, unclaimed property, business license renewals, equipment certifications, and Misc-1099 forms are filed accurately and timely.
Address all audit comments to identify any internal control weaknesses and implements corrective actions to fully address the underlying problems and prevents a repeat occurrence.
Provides financial assistance with purchase order requests including return on investment analysis for revenue generating asset additions, lease or buy analysis on office equipment, and comparative analysis on multiple bids for contracts and leases to ensure the best use of company resources.
Direct, coordinate and assist with the budgeting process, along with the forecasting and cash flow modeling activities for the Company. Assist project management team in preparing all financial and job cost reporting required for monthly project financial and field review with the Leadership Team. Monitor and report on the working budgets for each construction, project, renovation, etc.
Establish, monitor, and improve the process to review all monthly owner billings/owner pay applications, are processed timely and accurately and that accounts receivables are collected.
Oversee the procedures to ensure subcontractor/supplier lien waivers are received and sent to owners/lenders on a timely basis. Ensure accounts payable is processed accurately and paid on time.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or equivalent, Required.
Master’s Degree, preferred.
CPA Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial role in an inpatient healthcare setting, Acute Care Hospital and behavioral health Required.
Accounting, Auditing, Budgeting & Finance – 10 plus years preferred with demonstrated success.
Experience in multiple areas of healthcare finance and accounting required, AP/AR, payroll, accounting, treasury office, financial counseling, budgeting etc.
Communicate Company policies and processes and system functionality to executives, management, and all stakeholders.
MS Office Suite proficiency required.
Manage multiple tasks, receive direction and work independently, identify key objectives, be action-oriented, achieve results, and display ethics and values in all actions.
Athena Electronic Medical Records or equivalent Billing Systems – 8 plus years preferred.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or equivalent, Required.
Master’s Degree, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal skills with the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with external vested parties and internal departments.
Experience in payroll and funding timely.
Proactively and reactively provide information and recommendations that optimize business performance in changing market conditions.
Coordinate closely and collaborate effectively with HR, Compliance, and other business functions.
Manage relationships with key counterparties and external service providers, including auditors and other providers related to the financial operations of the organization.

Broad exposure to all fundamental financial and accounting disciplines (specific to healthcare businesses) including general accounting, audit, reporting, financial operations, cost accounting, planning, analysis, budgeting, information systems, taxation, treasury, insurance, credit, , compliance, and risk management.
