Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The Aquatics Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aquatic programs, facilities, and staff management. They will lead and coordinate aquatic programs, ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment, and manage a team of lifeguards and instructors. The Aquatics Director will play a crucial role in promoting water safety, developing swim programs, and maintaining the quality and safety of aquatic facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management:

Develop and implement a comprehensive aquatic program, including swim lessons, swim team, synchronize swim team, dive team, and recreational swim activities.
Plan and schedule aquatic events, competitions, and special programs.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of aquatic programs, making necessary improvements.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, lifeguarding standards, and emergency response procedures.
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to aquatic facilities.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Staff Management:

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, and other aquatic staff.
Schedule staff rotations, provide performance evaluations, and ensure staff certifications are current.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among aquatic staff.

Facility Maintenance:

Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatic facilities, including pools, locker rooms, and equipment.
Work directly with our Building Manager to schedule necessary repairs, upgrades, and renovations to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.

Customer Service:

Interact with members and program participants to address inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with patrons, participants, and community members.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the aquatic department budget, including revenue projections and expense control.
Seek opportunities for revenue generation, such as swim lesson fees and facility rentals.

Training and Development:

Organize regular training and professional development opportunities for staff.
Stay updated on industry best practices, trends, and new aquatic programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Recreation Management, Sports Management, or Physical Education).
Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications.
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is preferred.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience in aquatics program management is preferred.
Knowledge of aquatic programming, safety standards, and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform lifeguard and rescue duties as needed.
Ability to lift and move pool equipment and supplies.
