POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Software Engineering is tasked with leading and managing a technical team to help determine and execute the software product roadmap and overall tech-enabled direction of the company. The role is responsible for structure and growth of software development and operations across firmware, client, and cloud including front end and backend systems. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this position will promote and drive innovation and excellence through cross-functional collaboration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
These may include but are not limited to:
Provide technical and strategic leadership to guide the development and improvement of Genalyte software systems aligned to overall company objectives: Maverick Diagnostic System, CloudLab, and Merlin Automated Lab-
Oversee firmware, client, and cloud developers as well as devops, and software QA / test

Collaborate closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure all development, testing, and documentation practices support FDA submissions and clinical lab operations as appropriate

Drive continuous improvement to software development processes, tools, and testing(including automation to achieve efficient and effective execution

Foster an environment and team culture of innovation, execution, and quality

Establish and update clear organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities for the team; ensure the appropriate training, development, feedback/ reviews, and mentorship is taking place

Represent the software organization within the executive leadership team, effectively communicating plans and status

Develop and modify existing technology stack and drive implementation of new technologies/components as needed

Coordinate with cross functional departments, particularly Hardware Engineering and Assay Development to ensure complete
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related technology field

Medical device experience including submissions and clearances / approvals

10 years of experience directly managing engineers or highly technical teams. Experience in early-stage / growth companies, with a preference for biotech, pharma, healthcare or tech.

Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse and fast-paced environment.

Ability to hire, engage and motivate highly talented technical staff and inspire great performance.

Strong written, oral, and presentation skills to communicate, interface, negotiate and influence multi-disciplinary teams and a broad audience.

Demonstrated ability to deliver on time, on budget in a fast-paced, lean environment

SALARY RANGE: $210,000 - $ 240,000
Offer decisions and base salary depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s skills, qualifications, business need and experience.
