Full Job Description

Blue Ridge Envisioneering (BRE) is seeking qualified FPGA Engineers to join our team in Denver, CO.

At BRE, we meet customer and mission needs by leveraging cutting-edge research and technology and agile teams to rapidly deliver new capabilities to the warfighter. As an integral part of our team, you would work on one or more efforts at a time, assisting with multiple parts of the development process, including design, development, testing, and deployment. Since we deal with specific customer needs, it will be necessary to understand the problem, to utilize methods from a potentially wide variety of domains, produce functional solutions, and see the efforts through to completion. There are many opportunities to span multiple technical areas and develop new skills.

As an FPGA Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, verification, and integration of DSP systems using FPGAs and embedded processors. A successful candidate shall develop reusable IP modules from start to finish to include: requirements gathering, algorithm modeling, HDL development, test-benches, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

· Design, simulate, and synthesize functional RTL modules in VHDL and/or Verilog

· Model digital signal processing algorithms in MATLAB or Python

· Document requirements and design of reusable modules

· Develop unit test-benches to ensure design coverage

· Troubleshoot implementations using test equipment and JTAG board debuggers such as Xilinx ILA

· Read component data sheets and user manuals in order to implement appropriate interfaces

· Communicate project status and risks to management team

· Lead and participate in technical discussions across the engineering team

Required Core Qualifications:

· Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship required for clearance). Active TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred.

· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline

· 5+ years of experience developing RTL for FPGA systems

· Experience with one or more of the following domains: digital wireless communications, signal geolocation, estimation theory, image processing, control systems, statistics, machine learning and/or pattern recognition

· Experience with modern FPGA EDA tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Altera Quartus Prime

· Demonstrated experience developing AXI4-compliant peripherals

· Familiarity with Linux

· Experience with Git revision control systems, or equivalent

· Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira or Gitlab

· Additional Skills and Experience of Interest:Experience with system on chip (SoC) FPGA devices such as Xilinx’s Zynq, RFSoC , or Ultrascale MPSoC

· Experience using software-defined radio hardware (USRP or similar) and/or GNU radio for testing and/or prototyping

· Familiarity with fixed-point arithmetic and implementation

· Experience with low-level, interrupt driven peripherals, such as DMA, UART, SPI etc.

· Familiarity with a high-level software language such as C/C++ and associated software development kit such as XSDK

· Experience working in a lab environment and using test instruments (spectrum analyzers, scopes, and logic analyzers) to support integration and test

· Knowledge of Linux device drivers

· Familiarity with TCL scripting for EDA automation

· Familiarity with FPGA floor planning, circuit design, and schematic analysis.
