Job Description

atsec is looking for IT product-oriented full-time security analysts to join our team in Austin, Texas. This may be at an entry-level, senior or principal level, depending on your applicable work experience and skill sets.

As an analyst, you are expected to be fluent in security standards such as FIPS 140 and Common Criteria and familiar with security concepts and techniques such as cryptography, access control, authentication, auditing, side-channel analysis, etc. You will have many opportunities to apply your knowledge and talents to scrutinize the security architecture, implementation, and deployment of a variety IT products. You will have opportunities to master and serve as a reference in one or more technical domains such as cryptography, network protocols/security, hardware security, software engineering, data base, virtualization and operating systems. You will also support atsec customers in security related areas and become, or continue to be, a recognized industry expert in your field.

Qualifications

Mathematicians, computer scientists, cyber security experts, physicists, penetration testers, forensic analysts, and anyone from similar technical fields are encouraged to apply.

Candidates who have had formal and rigorous training in mathematics with programming skills prove to be the best fit for our team, although we welcome all candidates who are passionate about shaping up IT product security through standard-based systematical testing and evaluation. A solid understanding of cryptography and it’s use in data protection will give candidates an advantage in our hiring process.

This position does require the following qualifications.

Applicants must provide graduating GPA and numeric starting salary expectation. Failure to provide this information will result in application dismissal.
A degree in Mathematics with computer science emphasis or vice versa (equivalent experience may be acceptable)
Basic programming and software analysis skills
Cursory understanding of general information security concepts and principles, system architectures and development, cryptography, network protocols, etc.
The ability to write reports
The ability to maintain relationships with team members, customers, and certification authorities
The ability to work independently without being micro-managed
Eagerness to dig into technical subjects and find answers to questions
Enthusiasm, good customer interface skills, positive attitude, strong communication skills (written and verbal), and effective teamwork and technical collaboration skills
The flexibility to travel

Desirable skills include the following.

Security testing of IT products
Knowledge of network protocols (e.g. TLS/SSL, SSH, IKE, SRTP, SNMP)
Knowledge of information security (e.g. authentication, access control, network security)
Knowledge of cryptography and the FIPS 140-x family of standards
Knowledge of the Common Criteria family of standards
Knowledge of the US security testing programs and evaluation schemes, and of the applicable requirements and standards relevant to them.
