Position Title: Bilingual Psychologist – Independent Contractor

Direct Supervisor’s Title: Lead Psychologist

Positions Supervised Clinically: Post-Doctoral Fellows

Role Summary: The Bilingual Psychologist is responsible for providing psychological assessment and intervention services to Spanish speaking children and adolescents and their families. This position provides clinical supervision for post-doctoral fellows and doctoral psychology practicum students.

Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) is a non-profit community mental health center that serves youth and families from a variety of socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. ACGC is a trauma-informed care treatment center that follows guidelines set forth by the National Center for Trauma-Informed Care. Our mission at ACGC is to improve the mental health of children and their families through early intervention, diagnosis, and treatment to help them develop the emotional skills for meeting life’s challenges. The Center runs on a hybrid schedule with clinicians splitting their time between the office and working from home. This scheduling is flexible based on the needs of the clients and the clinician.

Our culture is collaborative. ACGC has a multidisciplinary team of professionals including a psychologist, social workers, counselors, post-doctoral fellows, and practicum students. Our treatment staff also includes a part-time child/adolescent psychiatric service provider. The center has a strong focus on training future mental health professionals and providing training and support to the wider community through workshops offered on a regular basis.

This position is up to 26 hours per week and will focus on providing psychological assessment services for children and adolescents through age 17. Common assessment questions include: ADHD, learning disabilities, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders. Each assessment includes a clinical interview intake session with the parent, a testing session with the client, and a feedback session to share results and recommendations, as well as a comprehensive written report. Parent sessions can occur via telehealth or in person at the parent’s discretion. Prior knowledge of the ADOS-2 is strongly preferred. Staff psychologist will also provide supervision to the post-doctoral fellow and doctoral practicum students in the areas of assessment and therapy. Supervision of and consultation with the post-doctoral fellows and psychology department facilitator will be the responsibility of the Staff Psychologist when the Lead Psychologist is on vacation or out of contact.

Opportunities to take on additional roles may be available as time and interest permit. Such opportunities include: individual and family therapy clients, co-leading group therapy, teaching workshops, presenting to the practicum students’ seminar, participating in the walk-in clinic, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

· Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited university training program

· Licensure as Psychologist in state of Texas

· At least one to four years’ experience, including postdoctoral fellowship

· Bilingual (Spanish)

· Training in and experience with clinical supervision

· Demonstrated clinical skills in child/adolescent assessment and intervention

Preferred Qualifications

· Proficiency in assessment procedures related to evaluation of autism-spectrum disorder (particularly any experience with the ADOS-2)

· Proficiency in assessment procedures related to evaluation of young children

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provides psychological assessments

· Conducts intake sessions which include evaluations, diagnosis and treatment planning, and risk assessment

· Maintains client contact hours and caseloads at expected levels

· Completes all agency documentation requirements in a timely manner

· Adheres to agency Policy and Procedures

· Collaborates and coordinates with relevant community health persons, organizations, and agencies

· Attends required agency meetings as needed (i.e., All Staff Meeting, Inter-disciplinary clinical staffing, Psych Team meetings and other meetings as defined by Lead Psychologist)

· Provides weekly supervision to assigned clinicians and maintains supervision log

· Furthers the mission of Austin Child Guidance Center through active support of strategic goals
