Job Title: Safety Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: SAFETY SPECIALIST - MIDLOTHIAN, TX

REPORTS TO: General Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-ExempT

JOB SUMMARY:

This person will provide technical safety and health support to the site leadership and all members of the site- based team. The individual works in conjunction with others to develop and roll out the site’s health programs, to coordinate and deliver safety training, and to conduct daily/weekly and monthly safety audits.
The successful candidate will be very active in the daily operations and will ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. This is a hands-on position to include manual labor, climbing, squatting, and lifting to 50 pounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively communicates with all levels of the site team
Provides technical safety, health support and information to the site leadership team
Researches and prepares written safety and health procedures and policies
Identifies site safety training needs, coordinates, tracks, and facilitates safety training programs
Develops and supports JSAs, SOPs, MOC, KPIs, Strategic Planning, Injury Statistics, Operation Clean

Sweep Events, Daily Safety Talks, and other written safety documentation

Maintains the site’s OSHA 300 Log and reporting requirements
Participates in new product/process assessments to improve operations and minimize personal risk
Interfaces with corporate safety staff to ensure implementation of corporate safety initiatives
Participates in safety reviews and provides leadership to the site safety committee
Conducts risk assessments and collaborates with site leadership and staff to develop strategies and policies to mitigate safety risks
Conducts incident investigations
Performs other duties as assigned

Technical capacity

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree or higher in a safety science, manufacturing/industrial technology or industrial hygiene discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience and knowledge of construction and manufacturing operations is desired.
Bilingual ability in English and Spanish will be considered a strength.
