Full Job Description

Purpose of the Position: Engineers, implements and monitors security systems, processes, and measures, for the protection of computer systems, networks and information. Identifies and defines system security requirements. Designs computer security architectures and develops detailed cyber security designs. Establishes goals and standards for improving Simmons information security posture.

Essential Position Responsibilities: Responsible for engineering, implementation and monitoring of security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information. Identifies and designs information systems security requirements. Develops detailed information security architectures and designs. Prepares and documents standard information security operating procedures and protocols. Configures and troubleshoots cyber-security infrastructure systems. Develops technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks. Solves difficult problems and works well under pressure. Works with application development and infrastructure teams to promote a cooperative environment in order to facilitate productivity, morale, and continued improvement in information security. Works with other teams to protect system boundaries, harden computer systems and network devices against attacks, both internal and external, and secure sensitive data. Develops comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and proposals for further system security enhancement. Measures progress against department and company goals related to information security. Communicates clearly and openly about security issues and incidents. Develops and maintains professional network and business relationships with vendors, peer organizations, and other business contacts. Must be able to handle logistics and planning for company-wide audiovisual needs. Must be able to manage vendor and outside technical support relationships for a multi-vendor environment.

Participates as a member of the Team: Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by facility being visited.

Travel: One to two offsite classes per year. Periodic travel to all Simmons locations via car or plane requiring overnight stay. Passport required.

Technical Experience: Four (4) years of proven work experience in the following areas: Experience in building and maintaining security systems Database and operating system security Firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc. Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools. Deep understanding of network technologies and protocols. Automation and programming. Thorough understanding of the latest security principles such as the CIA triad, the NIST cyber security framework, and defense in depth strategies.

Preferred Technical Experience: Deep software development - Django Full Stack Development (Python & Ansible modules). Automation skills. Experience in the security disciplines that align with IGA & Cloud Security. Experience with cybersecurity detection tools. Experience with OpenSearch, Fluentbit, and Fluentd. Experience with Privileged Access management tools like BeyondTrust.

Industry Experience: Experience in the manufacturing sector preferred.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other directly related field or 4 years related work experience.
