Who we are
The Education Abroad Office supports Texas A&M University’s commitment to develop global leaders through transformational opportunities abroad. Studying abroad encompasses a variety of international experiences including study, research, internships, volunteer opportunities and service learning programs. Study abroad opportunities are available for all students, freshmen through Ph.D. candidates. The various types of study abroad programs can be as short as a week or as long as an academic year. Students can be in a large group or study on an individual program. Programs through the Study Abroad Programs Office help broaden students’ intellectual and personal horizons, help them navigate in different environments, practice or perfect a language, and build a resume to help broaden career options.
What we want
Program Coordinator II: Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs specifically designed to promote education abroad opportunities for students across campus. This position assists in establishing short and long-term goals and strategic planning for office events, programs, and recruitment initiatives. Collaborates with others to create new and expanded programs and outreach projects, and to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Coordinates events that support programs for a great variety of students: incoming and outgoing exchange students, groups led by faculty and staff for short and longer terms, international field trips, internships, research, volunteer, and returnee students. Salary range: $45K to $49K / annually (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)

Position details : Employee will supervise student workers. Must be willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays; on and off-campus. Remote work may be necessary.

Master’s degree or equivalent of education and experience
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible coordination experience and outreach in higher education. Some experience with international travel or residence
Experience in teamwork or serving in committees; and experience providing administrative support and/or coordinating efforts between various entities
Active member of NAFSA, Association of International Educators or other organizations focused on education abroad or international education; Knowledge of international education; Knowledge of higher education systems; Knowledge of Microsoft application
Knowledge of application and enrollment database platforms utilized for study abroad such as ViaTRM or Studio Abroad
Knowledge of university programs and procedures
Responsibilities:
Events Coordination & Outreach - Plans, develops, and implements programs specifically designed to support the needs of prospective, current, and former study abroad students. Coordinates events that support programs for a great variety of students: incoming and outgoing exchange students, groups led by faculty and staff for short and longer terms, international field trips, internships, research, volunteer, and returnee students. Responsible for promotion and recruitment activities; supports the outreach efforts of the office. Creates events that promote education abroad, along with associated materials, in consultation with Education Abroad leadership. Writes and edits copies, creates presentations, and oversees the updating of content in portals. Updates and disseminates program information and collaborates with colleges and other campus units. Leads on-campus efforts to integrate Education Abroad into campus culture and serves as the responsible party for coordinating university-wide events, including, but not limited to: Howdy Week, Advisor Breakfast, Education Abroad fairs, International Education Week, Family Breakfast, Informational Tables, Classroom Visits, On-Campus/Off campus presentations and more. Provides information and advising to Texas A&M departments and external agencies related to international education. Exercises independent judgement to resolve problems, and develops initiatives that support the mission of the office. Triages and escalates complex matters to the appropriate supervisor as needed. Communicates verbally and in writing with students, administrators, faculty, international partners and government agencies. Occasionally represents Education Abroad in some capacity, such as giving presentations, helping with Q&A during events, serving as office liaison to another unit, representing the office on a committee, or travel to meetings, conferences, or campus visits. Regularly assists with projects designed to support the needs of the office, students, and faculty. Collaborates with others to regularly improve, and occasionally create new, programs, projects, website content, and/or other efforts. Organizes outreach and recruitment events that involve training and oversight of student workers, students ambassadors, and volunteers. Collaborates with Global Services within the Department of Global Engagement. Schedules venues, communicates with vendors, recruits, develops, and leads planning committees and volunteers, coordinates event registration and attendance, prepares event proposals, maintains program budgets, and coordinates debriefs for events and programs. Collaborates with Education Abroad and Global Engagement leadership to regularly update and maintain the website.
Policies & Procedures - Assists with the review, revision, and interpretation of rules, regulations, procedures, and policies relating to program coordination at Texas A&M and for students traveling abroad. Regularly researches and references internal and external policies and procedures when planning and implementing programs, completing reporting responsibilities, and advising students. Collaborates with office leadership to create, maintain, communicate changes, and provide training on internal office policies and procedures, particularly with respect to office programs.
Data Management & Reporting - Performs data collection, compilation, and statistical review for office programs. Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning for the office events, programs, and outreach to stakeholders as well as regularly evaluating progress toward those goals. Manages fiscal activities that directly impact the office budget. Prepares reports and specialized projects related to assigned program activities, such as event surveys. Maintains records for study abroad students, scholars, and remote collaborators. Handles confidential (FERPA and HIPAA-protected) information.
Training & Professional Development - Learns, maintains knowledge, and keeps abreast of applicable Federal, State, University, TAMU System, and ISSS regulations, policies, and procedures. Actively participates in internal and external training to advance knowledge. As needed, provides training on internal office policies and procedures.
Travel - Travels off campus to fulfill office business responsibilities. May travel to attend meetings both on and off campus, as well as to conferences or international sites. May travel to visit additional Texas A&M University campuses that the department serves (ex: TAMU Galveston and McAllen Center). Will require the operation of a University or other motor vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned.
