This position supports our workers' compensation line of business, Eastern Alliance.
The Finance Department typically works in the Lancaster office 2-3 days per week. During quarter end the team is in the office everyday for 2-4 weeks.
Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant I include assigned tasks in various areas (premiums, losses, expenses, etc.). This position maintains an understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting principles and appropriately applies them in their assigned areas of responsibility. This position also understands and performs internal controls in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
45% - Responsible for assigned tasks and responsibilities related to GAAP and statutory accounting and financial reporting, including:

Assistance with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses, including use of system reports to input and reconcile data for completeness and accuracy.

Preparation of daily, monthly, and quarterly account reconciliations as needed.

Preparation of daily, monthly, and quarterly journal entries in Workday general ledger.

Perform and document internal controls over financial reporting, as applicable.
20% - Preparation of quarterly and annual state tax and assessment filings.
20% - Perform monthly deductible policy billing process, including processing and monitoring of payments, preparation of monthly aging analysis, and other analyses as needed.
5% - Assist with the monthly agent commission processing, including researching commission transaction records, as needed, to help resolve agency partner questions.
Secondary Functions:
5% - Provide assistance and support to the Premium Billing team.
5% - Provide assistance to other team members related to financial reporting or special projects/analyses as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.

Minimum of 1 years of related accounting experience preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Ability to learn new software applications, including but not limited to general ledger, policy administration and claims systems.

Strong attention to detail and ability to establish priorities and meet internal and external deadlines.

Position Salary Range
$46,767.00 - $77,174.00
The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
