Description/Job Summary

Position Location: Nationwide

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The IBS Product / Business Development Manager will need an entrepreneurial spirit and drive. The position will develop the product line vision, market strategy execution, and lead the overall business development of the new thermoforming product line. The ideal candidate will have a combination of high level, complex national account type sales experience, technical and project management background in product development.

The position will be responsible for launching thermoformed products production capability and commercialize business opportunities to enhance business growth within the organization, will look for new growth areas, cross-selling new products to existing clients, generating ideas for new products to respond to changing customer needs, and diversifying/expanding the portfolio.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Manufacturing (OEM) - Identify and prospect new business opportunities within retail, packer/processor and contract manufacturing segments. Oversee all activities relating to researching, designing and marketing new PET products. Complete market research on competitor products and customer needs, oversee product professionals and department budgets.
(OEM) The BDM would also be the day-to-day account manager and first point of contact for the customer.
Act as liaison between the thermoforming operations team and supply chain teams and any other sales team members responsible for account management where thermoformed products business can be developed.
For stock product lines, the BDM would be the subject matter expert, helping to develop and close business jointly with the sales representative.
Compare the company's products to competitor's products in order to assess competition in the market. Develop new sales areas and improve sales through various methods.
Maintain current client relationship and identifying areas for potential clients.
Specify the market research needed and analyze research to identify customers' needs and wants.
Forecast demand and plan production scheduling, provide valid input to all cross functional departments and leadership. Develop metrics
Compare current sales numbers to goals, leading sales and marketing tasks among team members and meeting with upper management to discuss progress.
Provide direction and on-going project management on the development resources, personnel and assets needed for product design, prototyping and creating product renderings.
Develop and deliver customer presentations, Proposals and supply agreements
Oversee the design, manufacture and plan to market / promote the product to the public. Define product marketing communication objectives.
Collaborate with sales and design team to ensure requirements are met, such as sales numbers and profit goals
Ability to lead, teach and inspire others in the responsible sales areas on the thermoformed products.
Provide management with analyses and reports and respond to questions and requests. Assist in P&L review.
Reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and product production schedules to maintain product availability. Evaluate inventory, order flow, capacity, and customer requirements. Closely work with inbound material flow
Lead special projects, annual sales meetings, trade show exhibits, etc.
Work with costing team to develop pricing and lead times for customer quotes
With division leadership, determine 3 to 5-year utilization and capacity planning and expansion

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree preferred / will consider relevant experience
Technical background in thermoforming product development and the necessary resources needed for custom product development and commercialization.
Knowledge of production environment; basic tooling understanding, basic thermoforming production knowledge, product development and project management skills, and cost modeling expertise
In-depth understanding of supply chain and customer service requirements and needs for the target market segments.
Market knowledge of common PET container applications in retail and processor segments such as fresh Deli, Bakery, and Produce type products also common product lines and common competitive supplier product lines and capabilities.
Knowledge of pricing methods; Project Management skills
Ability to prepare and present cohesive and compelling presentations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both internally, externally and cross functionally with demand planning, operations, customer service and supply chain.
Ability to effectively communicate with upper management on results, active opportunities, state of the business, capital justification and requests, overall internal reporting capabilities
Demonstrated leadership roles, ability to build a support staff and a highly functioning sales force with expertise as the business evolves and grows.
Ability to travel to 50% or as necessary.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to develop a vision and create a unified market approach that aligns with the current asset base and future needs of the manufacturing platform to support the business development of the operation; determine the type of assets and platforms as the business evolves.
Vast understanding of common procurement procedures and strategies employed by large scale / national scope processors and retailers with regards to thermoformed packaging. Both in-store and processor supplied as well as working with procurement and product management teams with other thermoforming OEMs on contract manufacturing opportunities.

Understanding of higher volume PET products that are common to fresh food processing and in-store retail packing at key retailers.
Market knowledge of key customers that fit well with the go to market strategy and scale required of custom product development.
Strong account management skills and long-term relationship building skills.
Ability to collaborate with operations and finance on opportunities to analyze volumes and margins required to justify tooling investment.
- Understanding minimum run requirements to justify the machine set up and cost structure.
- Understanding of minimum shipments necessary for supply chain efficiency and inventory management
- Forecasting, demand planning, and production scheduling knowledge and the ability to provide valid input to all cross functional departments and leadership
Advanced analytical skills for assessing feasibility of projects.
Basic knowledge of a profit and loss statement or other financial measurements

EXPERIENCE:

7 - 10 years of marketing / sales experience with some thermoforming business experience at the custom/new-product development business level.
Customer relationships with supermarkets, fresh food packer / Processors, food packaging thermoformers for OEM contract manufacturing.
Prior experience in a startup operation, product line, business unit launch a plus to help the organization navigate through common startup up challenges.
