What we want
The Graduate and Professional School is looking for a Senior Graduate Student Specialist II , who will be responsible for coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of assigned stakeholder and student engagement initiatives to include the planning and implementation for a wide range of stakeholder and student affinity group programs across all strategic units throughout the Graduate and Professional School and Texas A&M University.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven years of related experience in office administration or project management including some supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Skills to effectively interact with a variety of constituencies and to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff work teams, other units of the campus, and outside organizations. Ability to organize time both in and out of office, manage time and effectiveness in high demand periods, and prioritize and complete tasks to deadline. Ability to independently plan, schedule, carry out and meet myriad of deadlines.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Temporarily irregular and periodically substantial travel in and out of state is required (includes traveling to attend recruiting events, coordinate and perform recruiting activities).
Preferred Education and Experience:
Preferred Experience:
- Experience developing marketing, public relations and/or communications strategies.
- Higher education experience and event coordination and/or outreach experience.
- Experience working closely with graduate and professional students.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Class C driver’s license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of public relations and marketing techniques, including social media.
- Ability to work with graduate and professional students, faculty, and administrators from a wide range of fields across the University.
- Knowledge of TAMUS Policies & Regulations with knowledge of the academic enterprise.
- Ability to interact with high level administrators and faculty.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment Strategy & Communications - Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of university-wide recruiting strategies and initiatives that inform and attract prospective graduate and professional students to Texas A&M University. Manages prospective student communication planning and oversees the client relationship management strategies across multiple platforms including print, digital and social media campaigns. In concert with other university offices, develops and implements marketing plans, strategies, and materials aimed at enhancing recruitment and conversion of applicants. Implements events, such as new graduate student orientations and information sessions for prospective graduate students. Coordinates and promotes campus-wide outreach efforts to facilitate graduate and professional student integration and community building. Travels in and out of state supporting recruitment efforts. Organizes and presents at seminars, class visits, workshops, career fairs, and other recruitment events. Works collaboratively with representatives from student organizations and other departments and programs university-wide to accommodate needs, generate support, and to ensure effectiveness of the recruitment process. Fields questions and provides follow-up information and referrals, as needed. Utilizes social media, e-mail, video calls and telephone to offer detailed advice and direction to prospective graduate and professional students. Creates a dynamic web presence and a communication plan for prospective graduate and professional students that ensures timely and accurate delivery of recruitment and program-related information, news, and events via websites, email, and social media platforms. Provides direction and guidance to multiple departmental staff. Is responsible for new and existing programs and projects that support graduate student recruitment and will work to enhance the graduate and professional student population as an indispensable component of academic excellence.
- Data Collection - Researches and tracks data collection for speeches, publications, website, news releases, and other marketing initiatives. Compiles reports on institution data of graduate initiatives and annually assesses impact (e.g. students met/targeted versus applicants versus those that matriculate to the university). Analyzes data to develop a recruitment plan to attract various high-quality graduate and professional students. Develops, implements, and manages the CRM system to accurately track interactions with prospective graduate and professional students. Assesses and fields reports of campaigns, mailers, lists, newsletter, teams, roles, automatic responses, and utilizes this data to develop result-driven plans for future recruiting seasons.
- Advising Lead - Provides guidance and direction to prospective and newly matriculated graduate and professional students related to all aspects of progressing through any graduate degree or professional program. Provides advanced, thorough advice in areas involving transfer work, non-degree seeking work, various official University forms, examination procedures, authorized signatures, other University graduate degree requirements, and graduation. Provides timely advising to prospective graduate and professional students on such items including, but not limited to: admission requirements, admissions processes, and resources available to incoming students. Provides personalized follow-up to prospective graduate and professional students to encourage and assist in enrollment. Has extensive knowledge of and assists developing and updating University graduate student policies and procedures.
- Supervisory - Provides input on budgetary issues, performance evaluations, hiring and terminations of staff and student workers within the office. Supervises staff and student workers in the office. Develops, directs, plans and implements new staff training. Provides training in Compass for graduate classification, degree requirements, etc.
