R&D Technician

At Häns Kissle, we strive to deliver the simple goodness of home in every bite. Founded in 1984, Häns Kissle began as the regional commissary for a small, high-end grocery chain in New England, MA, crafting fresh, upscale prepared foods and deli salads. Nearly 40 years later, we’re still in the kitchen in our 112,000 square foot facility, cooking up delicious foods with an uncompromising commitment to quality and service but now on a national level.

Purpose:

Support R&D Culinary team in all activities related to new product development, product management & production supervision to ensure Hans Kissle products achieve highest quality & taste standards.

Essential functions and responsibilities

Support sales by coordinating all samples for customers, employees, food shows and presentations
Knowledge of GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCAP, SQF, CCP’s and QCP’s
Work closely with production to communicate samples needed in a timely manner.
Create bench top samples of new or specialty recipes to full-fill orders
Demonstrate customer service skills including attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality & clear communication.
Provide customers and sales representatives with samples, literature, testing data and other documentation as appropriate.
Review orders for correct recipes, labeling, package quantities, and other related information
Develop and maintain knowledge of products, specifications, pricing, product testing information and marketing materials.
Ability to manage numerous projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
Complete ingredient evaluations and work closely with QC and Purchasing to approve alternate ingredients samples.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Assist on innovation projects through ideation, recipe creation, launch process and other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Culinary Arts or food science education preferred
Culinary experience necessary
Food manufacturing experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Work environment

All work is performed in a cold plant environment with temperatures ranging from 0 degrees F when in the freezer section to 40 degrees F working in Salad production/packaging areas. Work is also performed in areas of high noise levels, wet floors, seasonal schedule changes and dangerous chemicals, depending on position. This position requires standing for long periods of time, bending and lifting of up to 35 lb.
