Posting Summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Gender Specialist for University Correctional Healthcare located at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ.

The Gender Specialist will deliver high-quality individual and group psychotherapy services using evidence-based interventions to assist gender-diverse incarcerated individuals feel empowered, validated, and supported in finding their authentic gender identity and expression.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Participates in the clinical needs assessment of adult inmates/patients sentenced to the Department of Corrections and assists in arriving at diagnoses with precision and accuracy. Develops treatment plans. Skilled in providing group and individual therapies.
Makes clinically based decisions regarding appropriateness for treatment, as well as preferred treatment modality.
Assesses and makes referrals for higher levels of care, as appropriate.
Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and behaviors of adults and seniors.

Preferred two years’ experience assessing and/or treating Transgender or Gender Dysphoria patients.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have active New Jersey licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work
Valid Driver’s License. Must possess own vehicle to travel between sites.
