Full Job Description

R1 Concepts, Inc. has been the leading retailer in the automotive brakes industry over the past decade. We need a Warehouse Safety Officer that can accompany the demand for the rapid growth expected in the upcoming months and years to come. As a safety officer, you will establish and maintain a culture of safety excellence and safeguard compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This comprises implementing effective safety programs and protocols and ensuring the availability and usability of safety equipment. You will promptly respond to employee safety concerns, provide guidance and support in resolving issues and improve overall safety performance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with OSHA, local laws and regulations
Monitoring and staying updated on safety regulations, codes and standards applicable to the industry
Investigating accidents, incidents and near-miss events to determine root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent a recurrence
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and safety meetings to identify potential safety issues and ensure compliance with established safety protocols
Develop and deliver engaging safety training to educate staff on safe work practices, accident prevention, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Accurate record keeping of safety training, inspections, equipment maintenance, and incident reports
Supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing evacuation plans and procedures
Conduct forklift certifications (must be a certified trainer or be willing to be certified)
Recruit, motivate and retain a team of high-performing and driven associates
Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety-related matters
Inspect all vehicles and equipment to ensure operational safety
Handle worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
Claim and First Aid incident tracking
Maintain OSHA 300 log
Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a warehouse environment
Bilingual in English/Spanish required
Experience with Microsoft Office
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards plus familiarity with DOE 10 CFR Part 851 highly desirable
Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA and EPA
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Knowledgeable in workers compensation regulations
Ability to integrate changing processes and procedures, managing time and resources effectively
Able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs., ability to bend, stand, walk for prolonged period of time

Shift hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or related qualification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
