Graphic Illustrator (Navy experience a plus). Active Clearance required.
The Graphic Designer will have experience in creating visual text and imagery concepts, by hand or using computer software to support communication ideas that educate and inspire viewers on Navy websites and social media. Will be experienced in human- centered design (HCD). Will have experience developing layout for newsletters and infographics. Must be proficient in utilizing Adobe Suite of professional editing tools. Will have experience transforming statistical data into visual graphics and diagrams. Familiar with DON style guide ideal.
Bachelor’s degree (Art, Graphics Design; Applied Graphic Studies; Applied Graphic Technology; Visual Communication; Graphic Communication; Graphic Art; Multimedia Graphics; Packaging Design)
8 years of Graphic’s experience required working in a corporate and or government work evnvironment.
Job description encompass the following:
- providing technical, advisory, and planning services, to include social media management, planning and execution.
- facilitation of MyNavy HR enterprise social media process reviews and social media program strategic goals
- preparation for meetings with MyNavy HR public affairs social media representatives, leadership, industry representatives, and social media influencers
- long-range planning and coordination/integration across the MyNavy HR enterprise on various public affairs graphic design and social media projects.
The support includes direct liaison with social media managers, action officers, and public affairs officers across the MyNavy HR enterprise as well as other DOD organizations to support employment, development, and refinement of MyNavy HR social media planning and creation of graphic designs and infographics that support the MyNavy HR mission and programs.
- Provide technical expertise to action officers and Mass Communication Specialists involved with the internet, supporting government/military staff in managing and coordinating digital media programs and special projects throughout the MyNavy HR enterprise.
- Develop the enterprise social media plan; administer and coordinate public affairs social media activities for MyNavy HR enterprise, updating and maintaining a weekly publishing schedule in Sprout Social. Oversee the preparation and release of information to the public directly through social media at the national and international levels
- Obtain, create, post, and coordinate the maintenance of static and dynamic social media content for the MyNavy HR enterprise; to include responding to comments and direct messages.
- Ensure command social media sites are aligned and conform to CHINFO and CNP policies and regulations and also aligned with CNP’s mission, vision, and guiding principles.
- Create drawings, graphics, infographics, illustrations, photos, and videos in support of MyNavy HR programs, social media presence, and other Navy programs and events. All products must be cataloged in the MyNavy HR category of the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS).
- Provide formal format, layout, and production functions for MyNavy HR enterprise publications.
- Provide creative copywriting support including creating, editing, layout and proofreading.
- Provide scriptwriting support, producing original creative concepts and developing storylines from concept to completed product.
- Create illustrations and visual designs for various projects, including but not limited to: advertisements, websites, social media posts, packaging, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with clients or creative teams to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality illustrations that meet their needs.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite and other design software to develop and refine illustrations.
- Incorporate feedback and make revisions as necessary to ensure client satisfaction.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in illustration and design.
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Skills:
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator Multi-Ad-Creator, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, FlightCheck Professional, PageMaker, QuarK, QuarkXPress, Professional Pro, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel
- Strong artistic skills with the ability to create original illustrations in various styles
- Knowledge of production design principles and techniques
- Familiarity with web design principles and the ability to create graphics optimized for online use
- Basic photography skills for reference or image manipulation purposes
- Experience with animation software such as Adobe After Effects is a plus
- Familiarity with CorelDraw is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present ideas and collaborate with clients or team members
- Ability to take art direction and incorporate feedback into designs
