Full Job Description

We are seeking a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)/Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is compassionate and experienced to serve in a combined Head of Service and Clinical Therapist role at our Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). This position provides both clinical leadership and direct therapeutic services to youth with complex behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs.

The Head of Service oversees the STRTP’s clinical program, ensuring compliance with all California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies. In this role, you will supervise clinical staff, coordinate treatment services, lead multidisciplinary team meetings, and ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care.

As a Clinical Therapist, you will deliver individual, group, and family therapy; complete clinical assessments; develop and implement individualized treatment plans; and collaborate closely with social workers, educational partners, and other stakeholders to support each youth’s stabilization and long-term success.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that professional services are rendered to and/or on behalf of clients and families in a manner that promotes their overall safety, recovery, health, and well-being, and adheres to the mission and vision of the Agency Name. Ensures that all such services are in accordance with all law's rules, and regulations governing professional practice.

2. Serve as a role model for children, youth and families served by Agency Name. Maintains emotional stability and an ability to function effectively with children, adolescents and/or adults who may have mental and/or behavioral health problems at all times. Demonstrates appropriate daily behavior, expressions of emotion and professionalism that is free of hostility, aggression and/or unnecessary/inappropriate physical actions.

3. Responsible for the delivery and coordination of Mental Health Services to clients and families as defined by Agency Name Policy and Procedure, the Core Practice Model, and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Such services are inclusive of, but not limited to, conducting intake screenings, processing the steps for admission, performing full clinical client assessments, developing individualized treatment plans with clients and families, conducting individual, group and/or family therapy and/or rehabilitation services in adherence with the Client Treatment Plan (CTP) and engaging family members/caregivers/identified support persons in regular collateral contacts/sessions.

4. Responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions/services to and/or on behalf of the client as established by the CTP and that are consistent with established standards of practice and standards of proficiency discussed and established in clinical and administrative supervision.

5. Verify initial and ongoing medical necessity for all client services and demonstrates medical necessity at the time of assessment, in the development and ongoing review of the CTP, and in every Progress Note for billed services. Ensures that the clinical assessment and CTP meet the standards for clinical competence, best practices and Medical Necessity at all times, as reviewed in supervision and quality assurance oversight.

6. Provide Evidenced-based Practice (EBPs) interventions that are individualized and commiserate with the appropriate training, education, and respective model adherence requirements. If applicable, is responsible for taking the steps necessary to obtain certification in all EBPs within one (1) year of the initial training, including but not limited to, completing booster courses, conference calls, dashboard guides, session observations, EBP-specific supervision, and any other certification requirements.

7. Monitor and document the client’s progress towards meeting the individualized objectives outlined in the CTP. Completes the required documentation of case consultations, individual and family services to track progress and increased/decreased level of functioning.

Qualifications:

1. Education:

a. Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology from an accredited college or university required.

b. Licensed in California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR registered in California an Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist required.

c. Bilingual: (English/Spanish), a plus

d. Must meet eligibility requirements to bill for Medi-Cal services.

2. Experience:

a. Two years of experience working high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within the Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare and/or Juvenile Probation systems preferred.

b. Minimum one year of experience with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health billing and documentation requirements preferred.

Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by Community Care Licensing for a Licensed Community Care facility; i.e. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid CDL and clean driving record.
