3/4 days per week,

JOB SUMMARY
The cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Services and is accountable to the Chef Manager. In the absence of the Chef Manager, the cook will be responsible for the preparation and execution of the resident meals. The cook will ensure that meals are prepared and presented with excellence to provide quality customer service.

Day shift every & other weekend preferred – up 30 hours per week

$17.00 - $19.00 hourly DOE

DUTIES:

Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned by the Chef Manager.
Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
Meet scheduled meal times.
Follow Federal and State Long term care regulations and Dining Services policies and procedures.
Assist in serving meals when necessary.
Setting up the dining room.
Wash and store dishes.
Follow established reporting procedures.
Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
Attend in-service educational programs.
Trained in special diets.
Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
Understand the facility’s fire and disaster plans.
Be knowledgeable of Federal, State, and facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Answering phones and assistance with visitors, as needed.
Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by the Chef Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Professional cooking experience is preferred.

· Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments.

· This position will show a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.

· Numerical ability is necessary for recipe preparation as well as good motor coordination and manual dexterity.

· This position includes various work routines such as preparing food items, serving food, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning work areas.

· The Cook will be able to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation and must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents and family members.
