Another Source's client, Sabey Corporation, is recruiting a Head of Communications to join their team in Tukwila, WA.
Sabey is entering a new chapter of growth, visibility, and influence across real estate development, mission-critical infrastructure, and data center operations. As the company expands into new markets and navigates increasingly complex public, regulatory, and community environments, the company is making a significant investment in how it communicates, engages stakeholders, and shapes its reputation.
This newly created Head of Communications role will establish and lead Sabey's first dedicated Communications function. Reporting to Joe Sabey, President of Sabey Corporation, and partnering closely with Jim Sabey, Consulting Media Expert, this leader will help shape the company's communications strategy, strengthen stakeholder trust, and support some of Sabey's most important business priorities.

About this Role
As Head of Communications, you will lead Sabey's reputation strategy, executive communications, earned media presence, crisis readiness, political and community narratives, and stakeholder engagement efforts. This role operates at the intersection of corporate communications, public affairs, community relations, and executive thought leadership.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership while overseeing the Communications & PR Manager and Engagement Specialist. Working closely with Marketing, Government Affairs, Legal, HR, Finance, and Sabey Data Centers leadership, you'll help shape how Sabey communicates with employees, communities, policymakers, media, and industry stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a builder—someone who is intellectually curious, adaptable, and energized by creating something new. Success in this role will require strong relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and a willingness to embrace emerging technologies, including AI-enabled communications tools, in a rapidly evolving communications landscape.
Scope & Impact

Establish and lead Sabey's standalone Communications function, including strategy, operating rhythm, budget, KPIs, and organizational structure.

Develop and execute a comprehensive earned media strategy spanning national business media, financial press, trade publications, and local media across active development markets.

Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, ratings agencies, and industry influencers covering infrastructure, real estate, data centers, AI, and economic development.

Drive media coverage and messaging strategy for major company milestones, including campus developments, customer announcements, capital events, leadership transitions, and strategic initiatives.

Serve as a strategic communications advisor to Sabey's executive leadership team, including the CEO, President, CFO, and Sabey Data Centers leadership.

Develop executive thought leadership platforms, including bylines, keynote speeches, podcasts, LinkedIn content, investor communications, and industry commentary.

Launch and lead the Counter-Narrative Desk, creating systems for monitoring media, social, political, and community conversations and coordinating rapid-response communications when needed.

Shape political and community narratives across active and emerging development markets, partnering with local stakeholders, economic development organizations, community leaders, and industry groups.

Oversee community engagement initiatives, employee ambassador programs, and reputation-building efforts that strengthen local relationships and support long-term business objectives.

Develop and maintain crisis communications frameworks, playbooks, response protocols, and executive readiness programs.

Lead communications strategy during critical business events, including operational incidents, regulatory matters, public affairs issues, leadership changes, and sensitive stakeholder situations.

Partner closely with the Government Affairs Manager on stakeholder engagement, regulatory communications, political strategy, and message alignment.

Provide communications leadership for planning commission presentations, public-facing materials, briefing documents, and stakeholder communications.

Hire, coach, and develop communications team members while fostering strong cross-functional partnerships across the organization.

Report communications performance, reputation metrics, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
Minimum Qualifications
-
7+ years of progressive communications leadership experience, including experience leading corporate communications, public affairs, media relations, reputation management, or a comparable communications function.

Experience in infrastructure, technology, real estate, energy, industrial development, or other complex, highly visible industries preferred. Candidates from adjacent sectors with strong communications leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

Proven track record securing high-profile media coverage across national business, financial, trade, and regional media outlets.

Experience leading communications strategy during crisis situations and managing issues with significant reputational impact.

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively across corporate, political, and community communications environments.

Experience collaborating with political consultants, public affairs advisors, government affairs teams, or other stakeholder engagement partners.

Strong executive presence with experience advising senior leaders, executives, or public-facing spokespersons.

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Political Science, or a related field.

Compensation
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $174,107 – $261,160, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus opportunity.
