Description
Seeking a Kibana Dashboard Software Engineer to support the Innovations Group on the GSM-O II Program as a member of the End-to-End Visualization Team. Candidates must be within driving distance of Scott AFB. A Secret clearance is required at the start of employment, and Security+ certification must be obtained within 14 days.
As a key team member, you will work in a fast-paced Agile environment to architect, design, and develop a unified User Experience / User Interface (UX/UI) that delivers a single-pane-of-glass solution on the Kibana platform. You will collaborate with operational end users and support teams to gather requirements and develop UI mockups and wireframes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Gather, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and usability
- Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights
- Design and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Kibana
- Apply UI/UX design principles (visual hierarchy, layout, typography, color, accessibility)
- Translate analytical results into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business and operational requirements
- Maintain and refine data transformation pipelines to ensure data quality and reliability
- Develop self-service analytics tools and reusable data assets
- Document data models, business logic, and workflows
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline with 2+ years of related experience
- 1+ year of experience designing and deploying dashboards using the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats)
- 2+ years of UX/UI design and development experience, including wireframing and architecture diagrams
- Experience with Python, Java, and SQL; working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
- Experience with version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket
- Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance prior to start
- Ability to obtain Security+ (or equivalent IAT II certification) within 60 days
- Ability to commute to Ft. Meade, MD; Hill AFB, UT; or Scott AFB, IL for onsite work
- Experience working in fast-paced, technical, Agile environments
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and CI/CD practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Elastic Stack for data analysis and visualization
- Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Grafana)
- Experience building self-service analytics solutions
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices
- Experience documenting data models and transformation processes
- Experience in DoD or DISA environments (preferred)
- Understanding of network devices and configurations
- Experience with text mining, search, and entity extraction (ELK Stack)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and containerized pipelines
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (including AWS GovCloud)
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe)
- Experience working with distributed teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $72.00/hr.
