Full Job Description

Job Title: Live Production & Entertainment Intern

Department: Live Production & Entertainment

Supervisor: Director, Live Production & Entertainment

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Part-Time, 29 Hours per Week (September - December)

Summary:

The mission of the Boston Celtics internship program is to educate its participants in all aspects of operating a professional sports organization. Through observation and practical experience, interns learn how to function in a professional environment that requires a high energy level, the ability to perform under pressure and the utilization of essential time management skills. Through these developments, the Boston Celtics strive to successfully prepare their interns to compete for positions in the professional sports industry.

Responsibilities:

Schedule Color Guards for all Celtics home games and coordinate logistics for game day
Assist with coordination of pregame programming and in-game promotions.
Assist with working with groups such as the National Anthem performer, Halftime Acts, junior dance team, etc.
Ensure that prizes, waivers, and props for all in-game promotions/contests are in place for each home game.
Deliver game scripts, breakdowns/flow sheets to the control room staff every day of game.
Assist the Stage Managers and Celtics' Promotions Team with the set up and breakdown of all in-game promotions/contests.
Provide copies of the Jumbotron Feed to various departments after each home game
Participation in sponsor, community, and season ticket holder related events
Work alongside the Live Production & Entertainment staff during the planning and execution during our annual entertainment teams auditions (summer internship only.)
Assist the Live Production & Entertainment staff's planning for the upcoming season by brainstorming new, creative in-game promotions/contests (summer internship only.)
Assist with general office administrative duties.

Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively with the public
High energy, people person
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
Professional manner, positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to interact with other departments under many circumstances
Ability to multi-task and adjust to rapidly changing business conditions

Learning Opportunities:

Gain a deeper understanding of live production, entertainment, and game presentation.
Learn the logistics and process of live production and event planning.
Become an active participant and contributor to the department though various special projects and tasks.
Develop and apply new skills directly related to your field of study.
Think outside of the box during the creative process.
Enhance critical thinking/problem solving skills.
Demonstrate exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements:

Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student
Academic Credit
Ability to work scheduled home games and events

The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

Hourly Rate Range: $15.00
