Position Overview

As a FileMaker Solution Engineer, you’ll leverage your expertise to craft software solutions that transform businesses and exceed client expectations. You’ll be at the forefront of our development efforts, playing a critical role in delivering high-quality FileMaker applications.
As a Solutions Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, developing robust FileMaker applications that make a real difference to clients. You will be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, collaborating closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure applications.
This is a hands-on role with no management responsibilities, allowing you to focus on what you love – building exceptional software.
Your time will be thoughtfully allocated. We aim for:
85% hands-on development and coding,
10% dedicated to estimating, strategic planning and design, and collaborative stakeholder engagement,
5% for essential meetings and collaborating with our team.
Consultant Mindset
This is your chance to become a trusted technology advisor to a diverse portfolio of businesses. We’re looking for a Solution Engineer with a strong consultant mindset to join our team. At LuminFire, you’ll work closely with multiple clients each week, building strong relationships and understanding their unique needs. As a Solution Engineer, your work will be to make recommendations, estimate, design, build and deliver solutions that make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop Clean, Efficient, and Scalable Code:
Design, build, and maintain complex FileMaker applications
Implement security and data privacy best practices.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
2.Collaborate with Stakeholders:
Partner with product owners and business operation teams to deliver brilliant solutions.
Enhance internal tools and processes to improve operational efficiency.
Bridge the gap between technical development and business objectives.
3. Continuously Improve Applications:
Stay updated on FileMaker best practices and its emerging technologies.
Deploy applications in development and production environments and resolve issues promptly.
Document applications and development processes for future scalability.
Maintain and improve legacy FileMaker solutions as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years Claris FileMaker Pro development experience.
Strong knowledge of best practices for relational database design and scripting.
Experience in a full life-cycle software development environment including gathering requirements, writing design specs, performing testing, etc.
Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders.
Disciplined self-starter able to be highly productive both working alone and in collaboration with a team.
Ability to develop and work within existing development standards.
Preferred Skills
Experience working in an Agile SCRUM environment.
Experience with Macintosh and Windows systems and general IT support.
Experience with integrating FileMaker with websites and apps.
Curiosity for new technologies, SaaS services, off-the-shelf software, and emerging trends.
Familiarity with Gitlab
Additional Desirable Skills
Ability to work within existing development standards as well as help define new ones.
Because we follow a time and materials billing model, a background in client services or experience working as an independent contractor billing hourly is an advantage.
