Full Job Description

The position exists to manage the daily operations of the Office of Community Standards and inform and guide our students through the disciplinary process.

Duties

Manage the Office of Community Standards email inbox. Schedule hearings and appeal meetings, assemble committees for Student Disciplinary Committee hearings and Appeal Meetings, and distribute case information to committee members. Provide administrative support to the Assistant Deans.
Oversee the Maxient database, track and maintain all disciplinary files, and create department reports upon request from internal constituents.
Organize and direct Title IX hearings and appeal meetings through Zoom Video Communications, manage cross-examination portion of Title IX hearings, and transcribe hearings and appeal meetings.
Assist Assistant Deans and General Counsel with Student Code of Conduct policy development, manage Student Code of Conduct and Community Standards websites, and create Student Code of Conduct PDFs for all six schools.
Review and format incident reports from Housing & Residence Life, Department of Public Safety, International Programs, Dean's offices, among other departments, generate all disciplinary letters through the database, and maintain accurate accounting of crime statistics for the University's Clery Act.
Create and manage reports including but not limited to the Office of Community Standards semester-end reports, Department of Public Safety weekly and monthly reports, and International Programs University Probation monthly report.
Serve as the point of contact for students and parents to discuss the disciplinary process and resolve complaints and concerns, as well as for University personnel who have questions regarding the disciplinary process and Student Code of Conduct. Manage communication between the Office of Community Standards and students, as well as send hearing notification and decision letters to students on behalf of the Assistant Deans.
Notify University personnel of issued sanctions (i.e. alcohol/drug assessment, probation, suspension, expulsion, permanent dismissal), track the completion of sanctions assigned to students, and hold students accountable for completing sanctions. Communicate noncompliance to the Assistant Deans promptly.
Conduct background checks for subpoenas, government agencies, and graduate school applications.
Organize trainings related to Pepperdine's disciplinary process including but not limited to SDC panelists, Resident Director, Resident Advisors, Title IX panelists, etc.
Serve as a Christian role model and promote a Biblical worldview.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Uphold the University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree.
At least three years of administrative experience.
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task while possessing high attention to detail.
Personal faith in Jesus Christ.
Demonstrate support for the Christian mission of the University.
Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice.
Experience working with databases, Adobe Acrobat, Google Suite, Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Preferred:

Experience in a university setting.
Knowledge of Title IX policies and procedures and Pepperdine’s Student Code of Conduct.
Experience working with Zoom Video Conferencing, PeopleSoft, and Maxient.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $27.40 - $29.80 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
