JOB SUMMARY
The Formulation & Blending Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end ownership of product formulation, laboratory compounding, and commercial blending projects. This higher-level role requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional who can bridge the gap between product development and full-scale manufacturing. This position is responsible for creating and managing all lab samples, executing blending projects from concept to completion, and managing the critical regulatory and operational paperwork required for production runs. Acting as a technical leader, this role ensures all product batches meet precise quality, safety, and brand standards while representing Beneficial Blends, LLC in the most favorable light.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· End-to-End Project Ownership: Lead and manage complex blending projects from initial formulation through successful commercial manufacturing runs.
· Lab Bench & Sample Management: Formulate, blend, and compound laboratory-scale product samples for internal testing and customer approvals.
· Production Run Documentation: Create, review, and finalize all technical paperwork for manufacturing runs, including Master Batch Records (MBRs), blending instructions, and operational logs.
· Scale-Up Coordination: Partner closely with Production and Quality teams to successfully transition approved laboratory formulations into large-scale manufacturing blending runs.
· Raw Material Evaluation: Research, source, and test raw materials and chemical components, ensuring compliance with manufacturing constraints, cost parameters, and product specifications.
· Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Maintain meticulous laboratory records, ensuring all formulations adhere to strict industry guidelines (FDA, cGMP, etc.) and company quality standards.
· Internal Team Alignment: Work closely with the Project Manager, Sourcing, Operations, and Quality team members to ensure accurate timelines, raw material readiness, and on-time project launches.

QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related scientific field preferred.
· Experience: 5+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in formulation and blending, preferably in a consumer packaged goods (CPG), cosmetics, dietary supplement, or liquid/oil manufacturing environment.
· Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of commercial blending equipment, batch manufacturing processes, and industrial scaling constraints.
· Documentation Mastery: Proven experience drafting and managing Master Batch Records, SOPs, and safety data sheets (SDS).
· Computer Knowledge: Strong proficiency with internal programs, Outlook, and advanced Excel for formulation calculations.
