Full Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

The Learning Source is seeking applicants for a part-time Program Coordinator and English Language Acquisition (ELA) Instructor. This position is 12-15 hours per week which includes program coordination, program launch, in-person instructional time (5 hours), and planning time. This is a pilot program that will run from September to December 2026 in partnership with Jefferson County Public Libraries to serve the Belmar and Golden Public Library locations.

This is a management position that will oversee the hiring and training of one PT ELA instructor and coordinate with the Belmar and Golden Library staff to launch 2 English Conversation Circles (facilitated by volunteers).

Please note: This position is a one semester pilot program, with a chance of longer term renewal in January of 2027.

This position will manage class enrollment, testing, and placement of adult learners, and support one part-time evening instructor. This position will consist of working closely with library staff for successful launch and achieving targeted learner outcomes. Additionally, this role will require teaching an ELA class in the evening twice a week at Golden or Belmar Library. Curriculum, training and educational resources are provided for all new instructors.

Coordinate program schedules, enrollment, assessment, and placement of adult learners.
Assist in hiring PT ELA instructor and overseeing 2 English Conversation Circles.
Oversee the day-to-day logistics of the JCPL program. Observe classes, provide guidance, deliver supplies, and facilitate team meetings.
Serve as point of contact for Jefferson County Public Libraries.
Possess technical skills required for using technology in the classroom, etc.
Provide direct instruction and 1:1 tutoring two evenings a week to students studying English as a Second Language.
Implement curriculum tailored to English Language Acquisition.
Assist adults in creating individualized education plans that meet their learning needs and goals.
Engage adults with a range of skill levels using a variety of teaching and motivation strategies
Work with volunteer tutors and provide assistance with curriculum, teaching methods, and materials.
Perform daily record-keeping and data reporting responsibilities to The Learning Source. Track adults progress, attendance, and outcomes.
Attend program team and professional development meetings as assigned by The Learning Source.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience with education assessment tools TABE and CASAS experience preferred
Experience setting program goals, managing data , and tracking program outcomes
Results driven, organized, with strong critical thinking skills
Strong communication skills
Experience teaching adults and learners with diverse needs.
Experience teaching English as a Second Language.
Knowledge of education assessment tools – CASAS experience preferred (training on CASAS instructor certification is provided).
Understanding of group instruction principles, multi-level teaching strategies, classroom management.
Experience working with culturally and economically diverse communities and/or historically underserved populations.
Experience working with volunteers.

Preferred Skills

Experience leading a team of instructors/educational professionals.
Knowledge of Adult Education Theory. Training on this is also provided.
Experience using a database to track student information and outcomes
Lifelong learner and self-starter committed to continuous program improvement and student outcomes.
Collaborative and professional team member.
