We are currently searching for a skilled R&D Technician to join our fast-paced Product Development - AiS (Air Intake Systems) development team. This position assists with the development of aftermarket automotive performance products and will build, install and evaluate prototypes, conduct performance and durability testing, and support engineers in refining designs to ensure quality, fitment and improved vehicle performance. The successful candidate will have automotive repair experience and hands-on automotive mechanical knowledge. preferably with air intakes, and computer skills for data documentation. Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
- Works with product development team on assigned projects in support of AiS product development for various vehicle platforms.
- Works hands-on in the shop to install, test and validate new automotive products.
- Assembles, fits and modifies parts for evaluation.
- Conducts testing on prototype application installs, including dynamometer (Dyno) testing.
- Enters relevant project data into database and completes project documentation as required.
- Visits vendors / suppliers to deliver / pickup vehicles, or parts, may run errands for shop supplies or customer requirements as needed.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Automotive mechanical repair and parts install on various makes/models of cars and light duty trucks, required.
- Knowledge and familiarity with flow benches, chassis dynos or similar testing equipment.
- Dynamometer highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with shop math, shop tools, test equipment and data logging.
- Familiarity with 3D printers, a plus.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required
- AA Degree in automotive technology, or minimum of two (2) years relevant combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on automotive experience - working with engines, intakes, exhausts, suspension or other performance components, required.
- Basic machining, welding and/or fabrication skills, a plus.
- General Mechanic certification a plus.
- Experience operating Dynamometer, highly preferred.
- Excellent MVR (motor vehicle record) and valid California driver's license
- Forklift (sit-down) experience, a plus but not required.
