This company has no communication between their staff and management. They expect you to know in house changes by word of mouth. Then, if you are unaware of the changes, you get penalties and termination for it. The management will not hear your side of the situation, they stick together like a pack of hungry wolves. The company was once good and ran pretty smoothly. However, new management and the ADON are immature, unprofessional, obnoxious and nonsupportive. The company will treat their long time employees with no respect or gratitude but treat their brand new employees like gold. It is very strange... Lastly, we didn't even get a Merry Christmas, Christmas Bonus, nor a Christmas Party. If that aint a slap in the face I don't know what is? Take my advice run, run, run.....

Nothing this company was worse than the previous owners they purchased the company from in RICHMOND

Chaotic & stressful not because of the population they serve but staff 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unorganized unprofessional hectic

It’s very unpredictable and unprofessional, doesn’t care about your well being or their clients, as long as a body is there so that office staff doesn’t have to go in their fine, if you are sick or have a emergency, you have to find your own coverage, doesn’t have no PRN STAFF, they are very unprofessional and will terminate you over personal feelings and not under professional circumstances. Living conditions of clients are not good . I wouldn’t recommend no one putting their family members in their hands .

I really appreciated that the nursing to patient ratio was 1 to 1. This allowed me to focus on caring for my patients and getting to support them over the long term. The focus of day to day activities is all about skill building, entertaining the residents, outings in the communities like movies, sports games, and shopping. I was supported by my charge nurse and nurse manager. Having a CNA in the home is also very helpful

At five star residential living you have 12 hours to work starting from 6A-6P. The typical day at work at 5 star. Giving report to nurse at the end of the shift, remind residents to take their medicine, pulling out medicine, observing the patient, and reassure that they meet the dosage as prescribed. Assure the cleanliness and dignity of each patient. It is fun to work with different people and enjoyable working with the patient.

I always felt my interaction and charting of clients were valued by administrators. 5 Star was in a growth spurt and I had several supervisors. This was a challenge and I focused on my clients. Company growth is always challenging but is proof of a good program, competent staff, and consistent leadership. I feel very lucky to have worked with a stellar company like 5 Star during the time I was there. 

If you desire a very toxic work environment please work at this group home. The management  staff uses control tactics with their employees. They will make it more difficult for you to work there if they don’t like you. The good thing is you only have a few patients in one house. Be careful with all management staff

Lack of communication between managers and staff. Favoritism. Cliquish.  Medical concerns of residents tend to not get addressed and if it is addressed the resident may suffer. 

Productive, hard working, and fast paced environment. Co-workers were very helpful. Excellent teamwork and emphasizes everyone to ask questions if they need help.
