A Plus Garage Doors

A lot of the people I worked with in Dispatch, CSR, Warehouse, Door Installers, Accounting, Marketing were all great people to hang out with at work and outside of work. I'll be leaving behind lots of great friends.

No one actually knows what the culture is because it’s not something that’s reinforced by leadership and repeatedly goes against the [written] culture. If you have to continually talk about and reaffirm how great your culture is, odds are, it's not so great. 

As an outsider or newbie, this looks like a great place, then you begin to see what's really going on behind closed doors. A complete lack of organization, structure, knowledge, experience and training in HR and leadership. Top leadership roles enjoy micromanaging, doing employees work, shirking the organization hierarchy and going behind employees backs, purposely leaving leadership positions out of important meetings, emails, etc. Thereby reinforcing the lack of trust in their so-called “culture.” Once you’ve pointed out to leadership that they're doing something wrong due to your expertise, knowledge (and even a simple Google search), you’ve made the list to be ostracized, belittled, yelled at, ignored and will be forced out, only for them to spread falsehoods about you after you've left.

Despite what they say about being a team that honors, respects, trusts, and cares for one another, it couldn't be further from the truth. Nepotism, narcissism and good ole boys run the place. If you’re a high school dropout that is egocentric with zero management skills, and are emotionally immature, you have a good chance at melding with the culture here.

So I worked at this company in dispatching  for about a month until I was let go.  The company and culture were very interesting and I felt like I could grow at this job for a long time. 

The only problem is  I was laid off way before my probationary period was over without any notice.  And before I got a chance to really get use to the flow of work. Literally, I was doing the best I could for the time I was there and felt like I was improving. But it still wasn’t enough to keep me there unfortunately.  The position can be very competitive between the dispatchers FYI.  And the job probably wasn’t the right fit for me.  It would have still been fair to get some prior notice before getting let go on a Friday after shift was over. 

My advice to anyone applying here:
If you do get hired into Dispatching be prepared to take on a lot of customer service calls and answer multiple questions about garage door repair plus communicate with and schedule technicians at appropriate times. It’s definitely a lot to learn  and  if you can’t keep up with the work you won’t make it here, that’s just going off my experience for the short time I was at the company.  I don’t want to say it’s a bad place to work because my experience could be different from many other applicants. I will say A Plus Garage Doors  is a very successful garage door repair company who value their  customers.  On a good note, I did learn a lot about garage doors for the month I was there.  And the majority of employees and staff are very nice to get along with. 

A Plus Garage Doors really cares about their employees. I've worked at several companies before and always felt like I was a number to them and that I was easily replaceable. Here I feel valued and get shown appreciation from all angles of the company all of the time. The work environment is uplifting and positive. I feel the work that I do makes a difference and I'm helping people. The company values positive attitude, working hard, and doing your job. Being a team player is truly rewarding and acknowledged. There's opportunity to grow within the company and become more and do more.
 I recently had a difficult time in my life where things were a bit uneasy with home life and I was comfortable enough to talk with the company about it and they truly helped me find a solution to help my home life be stable and be able to provide for my family.
 The company truly cares for it's employees and not just them thriving in the work place but also thriving at home in their personal lives. I've never had another company that cares for me as a person and my well being and views me as a valuable member of the team.
If you're looking for a company that delivers excellent products and services that you can trust. A company that truly strives to make the world a better place by taking care of their customers and employees then this is the company for you!

This isn’t the type of family company that I would want to work for again. I was only there for 4 months, by the end of those 4 months I worked with an entirely new group of girls in my department. The turn around rate in the office is INSANE. A lot of empty promises in the interview. Not a lot of opportunities to move up, and if there are their family members come first it seems. They aren’t understanding when it comes to family emergencies. They say they are but they have a way of making you feel very guilty about leaving. My 3 year old was in the hospital for a week because of Epilepsy. Let’s just say I no longer work there. I was told by A lot of their employees told me how  manipulative the management was.  I was hoping they were wrong but unfortunately I saw what everyone was warning me about. There are some awesome employees there that made the experience a little better. But overall I felt very guilty when I would have to leave work to take care of my daughter even after providing doctors notes every time. In my last review working there management made me feel so guilty for taking care of my baby. She belittled me. She also told me that “now when we hire people we have to make sure they have a babysitter when they are sick because of you”. That made me feel even worse. Also, if you have complaints about how others treat you it doesn’t get taken very seriously. It’s always “that’s just how she is” 

Working at A Plus Garage Doors has been an absolute game-changer! As a customer service rep, I get to be the first point of contact for our customers, and let me tell you—this company makes it so easy to be proud of where I work.

The culture here is incredible—it’s a perfect balance of professionalism and fun. Everyone is genuinely honest, hardworking, and supportive. No drama, no shady business—just a team of great people who truly care about delivering the best service possible.

Our management actually listens (crazy, right?). They don’t just bark orders; they encourage growth, give helpful feedback, and make sure we have the tools to succeed. If you have an idea, they hear you out. If you need help, they’ve got your back. It’s so refreshing to work somewhere that values you as a person, not just an employee.

I also love how we’re encouraged to have fun while working. We work hard, but we laugh a lot, too! It’s such a positive environment that makes coming to work every day something to look forward to.

I honestly can't say enough GOOD about being a current employee with this company for over 2 years! This is the first job that I have ever had where I TRULY enjoy my work and appreciate my position in a company. A HUGE part of this is the management team, fellow coworkers and company culture. The management team has gone above and beyond to help me grow in my profession, and meet my project goals. In fact, after COVID restrictions greatly affected my husband's work, I reached out to the management team to increase my hours. They immediately went out of their way to find a solution so that I could better provide from my family. How AMAZING is that! My coworkers are so supportive and always incredibly helpful, everyone here is truly looking out for one-another and as a result, this company is thriving! The benefits offered here are wonderful and it is such a relief to have multiple choices for insurance so that I could pick the right plan for my family. My typical day starts with driving my company provided vehicle to our warehouse getting the supplies I need for the day. Then I head to the jobs that a scheduled. Then I complete the jobs I have scheduled that day.
I’ve learned to master the garage door business. I’ve learned how to problems solve on the spot . I’ve learned to lead a team and help others remotely. 
The management at A Plus is very understanding and very helpful with needs at work and outside of work. The management cares about our safety and work life as well as home life.
The culture at work is amazing we all get along amazing and we all look out for each other. We also make sure we get home at decent times.
The hardest part of the jobs is when jobs reveal problems with in fixing or replacing parts that are unexpected and jobs tend run longer then expected.
The most enjoyable part is being able to help people that call us for garage needs. Many times customers cars are stuck inside garages and it’s our job to make sure customers have a reliable and safe garages to use.


The company stands out with what they say their company culture is, however after going through their video interview, in person interview, and complimenting them on their advertised starting salary of $22 an hour. They dropped the salary to $18-20/hr and were looking for someone with less experience to justify the salary as "entry level." I offered to hear out what their offer would be for the now entry level position they dropped their offer to $19/hr. This seems deceptive to advertise at $22 drop to $20 and then only offer $19 after receiving a wealth of qualified candidates that only applied because of the advertised rate. Feels a little like a bait and switch situation. They even went as far to say that they do start at $22/ hr but then felt like their employees who started at that were not valuable to them at that rate. 

In my Time there I was assigned to work 36 weekend this year, and one 24 hour on call emergency shift per week. 

You get called out most of the time for emergency calls, and you work 3 out of 4 weekends a month. Your average work week as a technician is 50-75 hours without any reliable pay 

They also will assign non paid warranty calls and non paid advertisement promos to your schedule weekly. 

I was also blamed for stealing by one of the managers with no proof or evidence just a quick thought. Which resulted in them asking the customer. It was a mess to say the least. 

I consistently waited for “it get better” and “it” never did

I was extremely disappointed in my time with a plus garage doors and wish I could have my time back. 

I took a huge risk in switching my career path by coming to this company. They talked big about culture and employee appreciation like most companies will when you are interviewing.  Since starting with this company I can confirm that everything they said about their culture and company is true. I've yet to work a job where I've had this level of support and appreciation.  They will work with you to become the best person you can be on and off the clock, all you have to do is ask. Everyone from the top to the bottom are amazing and are always willing to help you in anyway.  Coming into this with very minimal knowledge about garage doors and sales i was very skeptical but it has been the best switch I've ever made in my life.
