There are a lot of good people there. A lot of good nurses that do their job well and really care about the residents like their own family. There is a constant shortage of nurses, but that I think that is everywhere. Each floor is different with its own needs . The job is pretty easy once you get a grasp of the terminology, and understand the computer system. The social work supervisor is very over worked, and has a hard time holding on to good staff. Not due to any fault of her own. They pay is ok for an entry level type work. Truly your experience will depend on who your nurse manager is. The social work director tries her best to help and answer questions but she has so much going on, a lot of times you will just flounder until you figure it out. Once you have, it isn't too bad. 

There is a mean girl, micromanagement type atmosphere amongst some of the nurses ( again, I think that is like that every where). The administration tries their best from what I saw.  But keep it mind, it is more run like a business and less like anything else. I know they are going through a change and it is hard to change a poor culture that developed over years and years. The building is in an upgrading status ( a lot of it is old, and was not kept up before the new owners took over). So some of it...is like...yikes.
I saw some people complained about the smell. Yes, it stinks in there. I think most nursing homes smell to a certain degree. Some day's it is worse than others. Some staff treat the residents really poorly, and some are wonderful. It really depends on the floor you work. I do not think that, with the new administration and owners, their problems are unique. Speaking strictly as a social worker, if you are looking for the counseling piece, this is not the place. Its more paper work, checking those required boxes, telling residents to stop hitting each other, and room changes. A lot of it is just lending an ear to those who often haven't felt heard, or they just want to complain. There isn't room for growth with the social work position. You may get tiny raises but the job is what it is.

When I arrive, my day starts with cleaning up after the night crew, although it is not part of my actual responsibility. Unfortunately, I have come to realize that no matter how much effort I put into my work, this company does not compensate me fairly for my worth. The entire place is in a mess, from cleanliness to following direct orders. In my opinion, the only thing i get satisfaction from is cooking for our residents day after day. The hardest part of my job is dealing with co workers and bosses. Some days it interferes with my successfulness of the jobs completion. 

A typical day at work involves not stopping moving from the moment you get there until you can escape to the time clock to punch out. The amount of work that each position has to do for the day is completely outrageous and is too much work for one person. They only pay you minimum wage which makes it even worse. I would not be so bad if they paid you more money for the amount of work you do but they wont. It is a union job which everyone says is great to work for, but I have been there a year and a half and have yet to see any benefits in being part of a union.

I liked the people I worked with greatly and every person has something they can teach you. knowing everyone on the floor is there for the same purpose the wellbeing. of the patient, working short staffed is one of the things I disliked most about this facility, but it happens that's when great team work comes into play. greatest part of the job is every patient has a different story and are more than willing to share it if you take the time to listen.

I thought this job was nice. I did the position I really wanted/liked doing at that time. What was nice, is once I got the position they did not mandate me to move to another position. However, I did realize there was job advancement They were true to what I said.
I was NOT pleased with the pay. The pay would not sustain anyone's life, let alone allow for an affordable activity.

I had good job security because I was a good employee.  Turnover in management was often and confusing because each manager was different.  It was rewarding being there for the elderly when sometimes no one else was besides the employees of the facility.  Do not work in a nursing home if you can't handle loss.  I wish they took the emotional needs of the residents more seriously.

This company is a joke.... The residents are not properly cared for and some of them are even being abused and neglected.... The way thee employees dress is inappropriate.... A lot of there staff come to work smelling strong like alcohol, and marijuana.... Some come in and can hardly stand on they own feet without support from a wall or coworker.... This nursing facility is not a safe place for anyone to have to live....

I had an excellent supervisor. He tried to accommodate my schedule. I was an activity assistant on a dementia unit.  The work was to sad on a daily basis.  I did not like the way the residents were treated. I often complained to my supervisor. I would never place a loved on there.

Steady work environment. Employees and administration were decent. Per 40 hours worked we accumulated sick time and paid time off time. Also health insurance was made available as well as a retirement plan and 401k

worst place i ever worked at disguisting dont use soap to was dishes they dont wear hair nets nor beard nets no tops on food that should be lidded most people dont wash hands after certain jobs or duties that requires hand washing after , the kitchen is just filthy i could go on
