Good money, not too bad guitars, but constant staff turnover and often single staffed  so you’ll find yourself doing double duties whether you are a solo office or your 1 other store store employee had to go cover the other local solo staffed stores so they can have a day off. More stress is placed on the one managing  agent who really trickles it down to thier one employee. Really push a lot of gimmicky guerillla marketing which is fine but takes time away from being in office so again working alone while other person  (managing agent) is out setting up marketing tables . Working alone can be fun except if it’s busy which depends on your office, they seem to vary a lot in production. Mine was a busier office do more work but your commission is based on store revenue so that’s also  good , for a while to you start burning out from constant grind. Multi phone lines will never stop ringing so opportunities to make money there even if you are in a slower area. Your gonna focus on Nonstandard auto which means the ones that often gave a troubled history. Positive is most clients are very nice but have no credit cards so come in to pay in office with money orders so you really develop that monthly connection. Feel like sone services are not funicular good secessions got them as they are already paying higher premiums for basic coverage so you kinda gotta trick them into carrying which sucks and a reason am leaving. Constant lapses because they can’t afford the bill and removing or not including extra services dings you and makes management come down hard. It’s almost seems better to company values to not sell a basic policy to keep them legal and covered instead of tryin to load them up with extras and miss your goals which sucks. Abd if you do ever argue with your managing  agent  good luck resolving it. 2 years will mean nothing When someone comes in for two months and starts screams at you for goal even though you’ve been hitting them all along and hr will not support you instead will offer remote work which starts in afternoon till 9 at night and heavily monitored with no more than 4 minutes idle  time. Office hours are 9-6. Overall I like really liked the job until I got  a new young hot headed managing agent in office abd now I’m the one out in leave not was allowed back in office until I talked to hr multiple times because i called to complain he was yelling and bringing a gun in keeping in desk and that was intimidating and he needed to leave it outside store . So that will turn into he said/she said that nobody else will want to believe and  your seniority and past years good performance will mean nothing and you will be forced to go back in an now extra uncomfortable environment  or resign. Without being able to use your remaining pto btw. A big suggestion I would give to hr is Marketing and events should be allowed for all agents not just managing agents leaving office   to help prevent potential burnout and make you feel better morale 
Like your giving back to community instead of just ripping  people off on extras. Higher ups will not even barely acknowledge you unless they have to and then they throw you into it, remote work was intimidating because you will sell to all states active in and they couldn’t explain how they would help prepare you for that just that help is always available     

The company has all new upper management team that know only one thing and that's venture capitalism, meaning they are in business to squeeze out what ever profits they can find and then they are on to the next company.  On the surface Acceptance is  insurance company but behind the scenes its a debt collection agency ( meaning they will call you three days prior to your bill being due and if you don't answer they will call you every day three times a day until your policy lapses and then they will call you 10 days straight three times a day threatening to report you to the state for no insurance) very similar to a title pawn company or a rent-a-center .   In normal insurance companies as a Agent you take pride in knowing that once you meet a family and they decide to trust you as their agent to trust that you and your company will secure their financial interest only to have a claim and have it take more than two months to be resolved.  Upper management preaches about a GUEST program for approaching each customer (in a cookie cutter style) making each Agent and customer service rep seem robotic and pre rehearsed, insurance is not a cookie cutter business, its about building consumer and community trust.  Its about being yourself and the GUEST program is a way for the company to ensure that every agent looks and sounds the same (no individualism at all). I was shocked to learn that 95% of the upper management team have only been in the insurance industry for less than 2 years and 98% of them don't even have their insurance licenses but yet they will micromanage you on your sales processes based on theories and can barely give a quote or take a payment themselves.  Its interesting to me that a company with a stock trading at less than $1.30 per share continues to push the law in terms of the insurance industry.  I was there for a less than a year and this company has been audited by the Georgia insurance commissioner twice.  Shady business practices, multiple OSHA violations for forcing hourly employees to work 6 days a week without honoring overtime.  Multiple instances of rate discount fraud but yet the tight rope continues to get walked.  I walked away because I could not continue to show fake pride in a company that I knew cared nothing about there employees and definitely not their customers.  Lastly there are hundreds of great people working for this company on the front lines, working in bad neighborhoods and they still do it with a smile.  As a Agent you benefit from in some cases working in a established office with a good solid policy count so you can make a decent living however sitting right across from you is a customer service rep that knows just as much as you and works just as much as you do but only makes $10 per hour.  I was fortunate to have multiple options to pursue once I saw the make up of this company and I decided to walk but if you are pondering this opportunity please think beware of the trap that you are walking into unless you are applying for one of those cushy upper management jobs.

The office manager where I was employed at was an exceptionally kind and savy person. It was the only reason I stuck around for more than a little while. The company did pay for me to get licensed but there was a lot of pressure to get licensed. You were expected to get licensed in a very short time frame. They initially supplied me with licensing courses referred to as ''0chance2fail'' which were missing half of the vital information that the state tests were quizzing me on. As time went on I realized I was just a machine to the company as the computers were to the office. No sense of compassion from the company as an employee and no sense of understanding from them even if you went far and beyond for the company's best interest. The customers were just viewed as dollar signs and the most money we could take from them the more likely hood of ''succeeding''  and getting ahead. I made daily reminder calls and lapsed calls to reinstate cancelled policies. It felt like we were nagging the customers on the company's behalf and we were full time babysitters. The company expected us to market and use our own money, time, and energy to ensure profits for them without any additional benefits to us except the marketing materials they supplied. They would constantly tell us our hard work was ''paying off'' because the company was profiting yet they eventually took away our commission from one day to the next with 0 days notice and micro managed us more and more in any way they could think of. You had to suck up to your district and regional.managers to be noticed and liked. The claims dept was the absolute  worst. The company expected you to sell their ''peace of mind'' product yet when a customer would have a claim it was never handled in a timely, efficient, or adequate manner. They implemented more enforcement for the office agents yet the corporate office, the call centers, and the claims depth continued to slack off in unimaginable ways. Bottom line exploitation in every way, shape, and form. My favorite part of the job was the customers. I would learn a lot from them. They made my day's worth it. But I felt bad for them, it felt like I was robbing them of their money on the company's behalf and they were getting cheated with the lack of assurance within the product sold.

Executive management is unethical, and fires anyone that stands up and tries to do the right thing.
Education is not valued, and they choose to hire individuals with no education so they can get off "cheaper".
President of the company hires all his friends from other bankrupt companies and then collects an $800.00 referral fee when they are hired.
Solid employees that are trying to make a difference are fired or run off because they dare to refuse to commit fraud or discriminate.
Members of the executive team that have been hired by the President as friends are actually inept at basic job functions, and make perilous business decisions everyday due to their ignorance.
Agents/CSR's are told to work six days a week as a salaried employee, and not given a day off between Dec-Apr - if they object, they are fired.
There is no one to go to with grievances because the corruption starts at the top - there are no employee advocates
Company policies are followed at whim, if they are even interpreted correctly by Executive Management - most of the time, decisions are made without regard to company policy or precedent
Acceptance is the lowest paying company in this industry, they KNOW it, and they don't care.
All of the Executive Management team refers to the front line employees (the CSR's, Claims Analysts, Underwriters, etc) as "welfare moms"...they could care less if any employee makes a living wage or has time to spend with their families

Here is the best advice for Upper Management:
-Stop intimidating employees and threatening them with their jobs if they don't want to be complicit in discriminatory/illegal activities
-Stop hiring your friends and getting rid of anyone that actually knows how to do their job
-Stop taking kickbacks, referral fees and bonuses illicitly when your employees haven't seen a raise in almost three years
-Stop firing employees for telling you that a business decision you have made/are making is not only illegal, but not in the best interest of the company
-Stop referring to the front line employees as "chattel" and treating them like dogs - you catch more flies with honey.
-Stop lying to peoples faces
-Stop lining your pockets while the lowest paid employees in your company, the ones that MAKE the profit, go uncompensated.

If you have ANY option at all, even if it is McDonalds....go work there.  You will be sorry you came to work for Acceptance.  I wouldn't let their company name make a greasy spot on my resume.

I don't agree that there are no upsides to this position,  like so many others have posted.  You have the ability (at least as an agent)  to earn uncapped income if you can successfully grow  your store and book of business.  The downside to that is,  if management doesn't like you,  they can reassign you to another smaller store and call it a demotion or even worse,  just fire you. The culture of this business leaves much to be desired,  but if you can weather it all,  they do pay pretty well,  which is how they justify how poorly agents are treated.  This is a high pressure and stressful job and not for someone who is only willing to do the bare minimum. Be prepared to put out 250 sticky notes on people's cars, and 300 tear sheets a week (which your  must hand stamp and cut yourself) .  Plus make face to face meetings with local auto dealers,  insurance offices,  and businesses.  I want to stay (mainly because I have not been able to find comparable pay thru any other means of employment), but this company seriously needs to improve their culture.  Constantly provoked employees do not work well and changing expectations midstream constantly while making  us work under 40 hours, no overtime, extending work hours til 7 pm Friday nights and opening an hour earlier on  Saturdays,  and placing mandatory job requirements,  all while reassigning your CSR to cover another store is assinine. I don't know how to meet all these expectations and make them balance and I have three years of practice. I feel like I'm being set up to fail.  The gotcha tactics and fear and intimidation style of management has got to stop.  They aren't motivating anyone like that.  If they  think making us scared for our jobs is going to create the profit this company do desperately seeks and needs, they should try a different approach, like building us up,  encouraging and motivating us to be better versions of ourselves.  Stop looking for somewhere to pull the rug out from  under us. Positive mental attitude is impossible if you constantly feel oppressed.

A few years ago, this became a great place to work, and has very quickly gone downhill. If you're not a backstabber, a liar, cheat or a complete suck-up, you can't stroke the egos of the dainty princesses running this place into the ground. They will promote their friends, discard any ideas that aren't theirs and manufacture ways to get rid of people that dare to challenge faulty thinking.

This place is a complete pirate ship. You'll never know if a mutiny is coming, or if they'll leave you at a port. The job in upper management is easy, you don't actually have to do ANYTHING. You can talk about initiatives and never actually execute, hold as many meetings as possible to schedule the next meeting, to talk about the "big" meeting... only to forget why you were meeting in the first place. Nevermind actually doing your day-to-day job, who would do something crazy like that in a pandemic? Not when we can post fake platitudes on social media sites that none of the actual customers look at. EVERYTHING is a self-supporting echo chamber for the glass house. In terms of actual accomplishments, the math is undefeated. The company has lost, and lost miserably, at every turn for the past year.

The open door policy is a complete lie. You will be targeted the minute you raise your concern. Whatever you do, do not speak up against the ice princesses, lest they melt in the spotlight.

Over 60% of their business is gone, and sooner or later the vultures will start circling. Dozens of us will stand by as we watch that last light turn out, calmly sip our courvoisier, and watch the place crumble.

Oh, but you'll get a pretty decent gift once a year that's supposed to distract you from the fact that your goals were changed arbitrarily and that none of the executive hallway actually really cares. Enjoy your cup. You'll also get paid to do nothing. After all, business is down so far, there's nothing left to sell to.

Where do I start? I have worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years, and never have I worked for such a horrible company. They treat their employees like garbage, micromanaging their every move. They do not care about their employees and management constantly talks down to their employees and treats them like children.

They change schedules with little to no notice, and expect their employees to be able to conform to said changes with no respect to employees with child care issues.

They will also change your pay at anytime without notice, and try to spin it that it's for your benefit, but anyone with half a brain can clearly see it's for the companies benefit, not the employee.

All upper management and CEO's have only RETAIL background, and try to treat their sales offices as such, with no knowledge of how to successfully run an insurance office.

They require outside marketing, but refuse to reimburse employees for mileage and marketing expenses. They even go as far as saying their agents are responsible for purchasing their own stamps to mail documents from the office.

They provide PTO, but with no opportunity to use it, with month long black out periods, and black out dates proceeding and succeeding every major holiday. PTO is also on a "use it or lose it" basis with no ability to carry over unused dates.

Mandatory work days on every Monday, Friday, and Saturday, the 1st, 3rd, 15th, and 30th or 31st of the month with no approved overtime leaves the office extremely short staffed on peak business days.

The HR department is just as corrupt as their management and will sweep complaints of discrimination under the rug to protect their managers and not their employees

Be weary of this company, especially if you work for them.  I gave ample notice of my resignation and they still are trying not to pay me my final paycheck.

When I first started, we alternated Saturdays off with our co-worker. Then things changed and we could only take 1 Saturday off a month. For the last almost 3 years, we have been made to work EVERY SINGLE Saturday unless we use our vacation time for it.
Our hours used to be Mon-Fri 9-6 and Saturday from 10-2 then they changed to Sat 10-5 and now we work Mon-Thurs 9-6 Friday 9-7 and Saturday 9-5.
AND WE ARE ALLOWED ABSOLUTELY ZERO OVERTIME. On Friday one of us works 9-6 and the other 10-7 and then if we are coming close to 40hours, we have to leave 15-20 minutes early one day so we make sure we don't go over.
Our customers are whiney boogers that are constantly griping over prices. Yes, insurance is high... I'm not immune just because I'm an insurance agent. Do these same customers gripe at walmart when their prices increase? It's the same concept... companies have to make money to stay in business.
NOW they are messing with our money. They are taking away a third of our base pay because we have the "opportunity" to make commission and bonuses. If I wanted to work for commission, it wouldn't be for this company for sure!! I like having a comfortable hourly wage that I can COUNT ON, not have to stress about whether I'm beating last years numbers so I can feed my family and with all the rate increases and policy changes the company is making, it's a huge struggle to top last years sales. Top all this off with the fact that our claims department SUCKS and we regularly lose customers because our claims dept is so slow and you just can' t win!!!
Why does it take 2 weeks just to get an appraiser out to look at vehicles when our rental reimbursement only covers a max of ten days??
Overall, I love my customers. They really are what makes this job enjoyable, and my co-worker is great. I just can't keep dealing with these changes, especially not now that they are messing with my money.

On a typical day, agents deal with at least one dissatisfied customer or more. The customers that have insurance here have no concept of what insurance is or how it works. It is a daily struggle to explain company policies and state/company rate increases to customers. 
The management I worked under in Georgia is the best management I could ask for. You have to try your best to hit goals and ask for help in areas you are lacking. As long as you do what you are asked,  the management is there to help and encourage you, not bring you down for not being able to reach goals. 
Managing agents get paid well as long as you hit goals. To hit goals you must meet local standard agents and work hard for referral business. Retention of customers is a good concept but sometimes seems to be impossible. This is because the client base is people who don't understand how important maintaining active insurance is, which is mind-blowing. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is the pay and the freedom to market in your town how you feel it is best effective. There are days you feel that you have really helped a customer get a lower rate and better coverage. Then a few months later that customer turns on you for some reason or another, and you have to calm them down and explain how insurance works.
A concerning part of working for this company is they change the pay scale for agents yearly. I believe it has changed four times in the past five years. With it constantly changing you never know what the next year will hold for you. They send out spreadsheets with the commission dollars of what you've sold and how much of it you get paid, but its all in code and none of the agents really understand it.

You'll always get a bonus based off of what was sold as an office, but it was a constant pressure to sell commercial and home insurance. Products they call "other than auto" basically. They especially wanted a lot of life sales which you don't get much commission off of at all. 
The new computer system they implemented is overly complicated for no good reason, and the pay and bonus structure changed company wide seemingly to pay for this new expensive program they purchased along with the barely competent support staff for the new system. 

You CAN get a larger bonus if you're a part of a bigger office. There also is management potential as soon as 6 months in if a spot becomes available. That is if you're shown to be good at CONSISTENTLY selling other than auto products and autos add-on coverages like road service, renters insurance, etc. You're only as good as your last month though as is the case with sells, and you have to work hard and smart for your business.

You're expected to go out and market to other business on an AT LEAST weekly basis and notate your marketing efforts. Some may see this as a nice break from the office and a great opportunity to generate business, others may find it an uncomfortable chore and waste of gas. 
Bottom line is if you like sales, this job can pay well to excellent for your successes. If not, then the constant pestering from the district manager and the forced parroting from the office manager may wear down on you.

Also, you get only ONE Saturday off each month, and one day between Tues & Thurs. Can be good and bad if you have some mid-week things to do sometimes. Harder on people with families obviously. GREAT VACATION. You quickly get about 3+ weeks of vacation time after a few months.
