Typical day- The basic premise was to round on a certain amount of patients off of a list. I went to three nursing homes every day. It was never that simple. Staff could not recognize patients in distress or need of urgent care. I walked into situations that needed immediate attention, probably every other day between the facilities. I would start at 0800 and work until sometimes 1900, depending on what was going on. This could have been because I was not familiar with the residents so this part could actually improve. 
Imaging outside of Xrays were highly discouraged by nursing home management for cost reasons. The nursing home staff are not trained to assist in any bedside procedures, nor are they available. I was told by the physician to "be careful with looking too hard, you may not like what you find", in reference to imaging a patient with new onset issues that were very concerning. I had a DON of a nursing home tell me that she should be the one taking care of the patients, insinuating that I was not needed. One nursing home demanded I follow a government criteria for UTI's even though it was going to be a detriment to the patient. 
To sum that up, if you do not prioritize the financial status of the nursing home above patient care and outcomes, you will be asked to change the way you provide care or you will be fired. It was very difficult to take good care of these patients. 
The actual management of Access Medical were just fine. They pretty much know what kind of situation they are putting you in and are hoping you make it. The other providers were helpful as well.  I really enjoyed the residents and most of the nursing home staff. 


A typical day at Access Medical Clinic is fast-paced and focused on patient care. We start the day preparing the clinic for patients, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, assisting providers, administering medications and treatments, completing documentation, and helping ensure the clinic runs efficiently. Every day brings something different, which keeps the work interesting and provides opportunities to learn.

One of the things I have learned while working here is the importance of teamwork, flexibility, and providing excellent patient-centered care. The management team is supportive and approachable, and they work hard to ensure staff have the resources needed to succeed. Communication is encouraged, and employees are treated with respect.

The workplace culture is collaborative and welcoming. Team members are always willing to help one another, and everyone shares the common goal of providing the best care possible to patients. The most challenging part of the job can be managing a high patient volume while maintaining quality care, but the teams works together effectively to meet those demands.

The most enjoyable part of the job is building relationships with patients and coworkers. It is rewarding to know that the work we do positively impacts the health and well-being of our community. Overall, Access Medical Clinic is a great place to work, grow professionally, and make a difference in patients' lives. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
There wasn't a best part.  You get in trouble for asking questions or they try to make you feel stupid.  Absolutely NO training. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You can't ask questions because they don't like that.  They expect you to read their mind. They try to put you down and make you feel stupid.  Everyone is always trying to get you in trouble to make theirselves look good. There is absolutely NO communication and the management is seriously TERRIBLE.  They really don't have any idea what is going on.  They take advantage of your kindness and tear your confidence down.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is horrible because you are always worried about the management and the people you're working with.  You can't trust anyone cause they are all trying to look better than you and they will try their best to get you in trouble somehow even though you aren't doing anything wrong.  You get absolutely NO sick time and they tell you when you start that you can work extra to take off , but that's a lie. They don't want you to take off to go to the dr or to take your kids to the dr. You only get a couple of hours of PTO a month and the pay was absolutely TERRIBLE. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I LOVED my job , but I dreaded clocking in everyday because of the way I was treated and talked to.  You didn't have enough to keep you busy,  but if you asked for more they would try and find something that you've done wrong.  You can't ever do your job better than someone cause they will try their best to tear you down including management.

A typical work day here is great.  The patient population is appreciative we are here and provide an option for healthcare for them without having to drive further from home.  Direct management is fantastic, I have not met or talked to anyone above that.  The workplace culture in the particular clinic I work in is fantastic.  The views of all the staff is shared and that makes patient care very easy and fluid.  The patients deserve and expect top notch care and we strive to meet those expectations tenfold, with a smile.  The hardest part of the job is the lack of staffing.  There is literally only enough staff in the clinic to cover the immediate needs day to day.  If one person has to call out for whatever reason,  or takes time off, there is nobody to cover and that leaves people spread too thin doing way too much or even doing things they have not been properly trained for or aren't even licensed to perform.  This causes  animosity amongst staff and they  don't feel like they can use PTO.  Things happen and people do have lives outside of work that they have to be present for but the guilt of leaving their team short-handed knowing they aren't going to get help is a very heavy weight to carry when things outside of your control happen.  


Heartbreaking Decline – Patients Deserve Better, and So Do You

I dedicated my career to my patients and believed in this company for far too long. Unfortunately, management does not care about staff wellbeing. They will say what you want to hear during hiring—but the reality changes quickly.

The cons are overwhelming:

Poor PTO and benefits
Profit prioritized over safe, quality patient care
Toxic, micromanaging leadership
Invasive surveillance—cameras inside clinical areas raise serious HIPAA and privacy concerns
No regard for provider capacity—double bookings are standard, and refusing to take more patients results in disciplinary action
The only redeeming aspect of the job was the patients. But even that becomes overshadowed by unrealistic expectations and a system that punishes providers for advocating for themselves or their patients.

Now that the company has been acquired by a large bank-backed investor, the situation is worsening. The focus is clearly on revenue—not care, not staff, and certainly not ethics.

Bottom line: If you value professional integrity, work-life balance, or basic respect—run

What is the best part of working at the company?
Most unorganized company I have ever worked for.  I was part of the clinic management team. You could never get a response from the operations manager nor did she follow up on many things. They were just left unaddressed and it left staff feeling like no one cared. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Again, when you’re part of the management team and the staff you manage, you could never get answers for any issues they were having because you are so micromanaged and unable to answer anything they need help with. It makes it impossible to call yourself a manager.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Absolutely awful. The negativity is it something I’ve never experienced before. The upper management doesn’t have a clue how to run a company and keep your staff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A lot of issues that you could not take care of as a clinic manager because of your operations manager needing an input on everything needed to be done and you never got that input. It made for a very long and stressful day.

I’ve had a genuinely positive experience with Access Medical and its workplace culture. From day one, the environment has felt supportive, collaborative, and team-oriented. Leadership is approachable and truly values employee input, which creates a strong sense of respect and transparency throughout the organization.

One of the standout aspects of the culture is the emphasis on professional growth and continuous learning. What is the best part of working at the company?
While this is definitely and fast paced environment, AMC keeps a low stress atmosphere by emphasizing learning and growing rather than being pressured or looking for mistakes.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I am in an outlying clinic and while I feel supported, at times I feel like being the fringe at not part of the mainstream. However, this doesn't really bother me a bit.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
AMC is definitely as fast paced as any primary care medical clinic however the culture is very supportive with emphasis on growth and learning. Low pressure, low stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I am a primary care provider who also sees walk in urgent care patients. Days for start about 7:45 with responding to pt requests. I start seeing patients at 8:30 with 1/2 to 1 hour lunch and see patients til 5. Then go home. Any extra training or meetings happen during the day. Weekends are evenings are almost never interrupted.

I worked with Access Medical Clinic for two years and really enjoyed the experience. Compensation is highly competitive and the job expectations are communicated clearly. The core values are communicated clearly and I was given the freedom to be successful and grow my area. 

The greatest challenge was not with the company, but more the nature of the healthcare industry. Our clinic saw many patients daily, but that's why I love my job. I also learned more about  the business side than I anticipated ever learning.

Culture is definitely team-focused and values-driven. Upper management were always available to address needs. I never felt like my requests or concerns went unheard. They really encourage you to develop a relationship with all patients, both Urgent Care and Primary Care. 

I would definitely recommend working for Access Medical Clinic. We moved to an urban area where they didn't have a clinic location, but I would return to AMC in a heartbeat if I could.
