Every property is different but expectations for each property are the same. Some Regional Manager's spend too much time with certain sites and too little with others. The company was very employee focused but has recently started only focusing on numbers and performance. It's become a very take what they can and give nothing back sort of business. Every week policies and procedures are changing and changing again. Transparency from the corporate office has become very murky.  Where once everyone was in the loop and included in conversations now, you don't hear about anything until it's a done deal even though it affects the entire company. You will be compensated pretty well for your work, but you'll never grow from that position. They boast about growth of the company and your potential for growth but will offer ZERO resources to aid you in that growth. Hiring from outside the company is the preferred method for higher level positions. If you need a short term job and are money motivated this company isn't bad to work for, but again do not come aboard expecting support or growth.

Going to say this in the most professional and polite way. This place is very, very stressful. They have a lot of unrealistic expectations set for their staff . I never felt appreciated one time working at this place . The pay and benefits are not good at all. The turnover rate is absolutely ridiculous (73% turnover rate). It seems like every other week somebody has quit. Not everything was bad (some really great employees and a few corporate staff were great) but they do not stand behind their core values. They have a lot of work to do and they need to start by listening to their employees. With that kind of turnover rate- clearly something is wrong. At the end of the day, you truly are just a number and I refuse to make a company rich as I stress out for little pay.  Not happening. I highly recommend that if you want a work/life balance, good pay/benefits- to look elsewhere. They will work you until you can’t take it anymore. Please do your research. I really hope one day they can listen to the feedback and turn the company around. It really has potential.

At first it seems like just typical pros and cons to balance with the job but, rapidly, the company culture has been falling.  There is a massive disconnect from upper leadership to the site teams and it's like talking to a brick wall when you try to advocate for the specific needs. No training structure.  A lack of attainable and long lasting accountability standards. A HUGE misguided view on the importance resident retention and proper budget planning to have successful sites.  They claim to put people first but it's by paying slightly above average salaries in hopes that the pay will make people put up with the negligence from the corporate side.  You can find some good eggs here and there but it's hard for them to do good when there is opposition all around.  They shoot themselves in the foot and lose good employees or overwork the good ones that stay.  Good luck.

Overall you'll get along with the people at Ackermann. Everyone at corporate are nice and friendly to your face. Unfortunately, they are very tight on their budget for their properties that most residents complain cause they get nickle and dimed for everything. Management communication is awful. They said they were so family friendly and would take care of you and family comes first but in the event something happens they don't care and will write you up for it. I really did enjoy everyone's personality but it also seems very two faced when they don't seem to understand unpreventable circumstances. The turn over for property managers at a property is very high which alone will say something about a company.

Pay attention to the good reviews upper management makes to try & keep their scores up & know that it does not reflect what it is like to work at one of their properties. 

The truth is they are extremely clicky & prefer to project fake culture with weekly team building exercises instead of training/helping their employees. 

They take pride in how fast they can come in & flip occupied apartments but that is only good for their investors while making residents & employees miserable. While doing this they require the maintenance staff to do things that the state and/or county has regulations requiring a license that the maintenance staff do not have. 

So if you’re ready to sell your soul for a paycheck then apply now! 

Upper management is probably on of the worst I've seen in 20 years of experience. They treat their best employees like garbage and understaff their properties and expect miracles to occur as they consistently push more and more work onto you. 

Human Resources actually works entirely against you and the hope of ever having anything remediated  is not possible. Deciding to work here was possibly the worst professional decision I ever made.

If you love working at a place where favoritism is first and morals are second then this is the place for you. They understaff properties heavily, and expect top performance always. Not to mention the terrible acquisitions that come with the worst apartment quality. The people they choose for Maintenance are terrible at the job and do not leave the apartments ready and they will sit there and argue that the apartments are ready. Micromanaging and a joke.

This company is a joke, they use you as much as they can then treat you like cattle. Expect the world from you. Their properties are junk, built horribly. Management is atrocious. They have no clue how to run a business let alone a single property. I would advise to NEVER work or rent from this company....trust me, you’ll regret it. I do.

Ackermann is a fantastic place to work! Their communities are beautiful, well maintained and managed. The culture is great and they go above and beyond with employee benefits with lots of "extras". The people are amazing, talented and truly support you and your goals and understand that family is first. There's also a lot of growth happening so there are opportunities for advancement. Such a great place to work!
