Advantage Home Health Care

A typical day at work includes but is not limited to making contact with clients for the day.  A routine daily log is 6 visits per day.  Visits vary from Patient/Family education,  diabetes assessment, teaching client/family to use glucometer and record daily blood sugar, medications, wound care, IV administration, daily weight/record, diet and nutritional compliance. There may also be wound care which includes evaluation, measurements, healing progress or lack of and dressing changes. Family members are encouraged and taught to participate in patient's care. Client's with non-healing wounds are referred to MD and or Wound Clinic for additional care.  The day may include contacting doctors and/or referrals to other agencies to insure continuity of care. A catheter may be changed as needed.   We are very problem oriented and responsible to work with client/families to provide the best home care possible with our goal being to keep clients out of the hospital.  Home Health is a daily learning process since no two cases are identical. Most of my co-workers are very good to work with and we work well together.
The hardest part of the job is being on call and working week-ends and holidays. The most enjoyably part of the job is the gratitude expressed by client's/families. It is very rewarding to see a client complete a set time frame and be able to follow their teachings.
I am responsible for all documentation for each client and turning it in within a certain time frame.

The most enjoyable part was the clients. The family was a problem and would create chaos but u couldn't say anything or you would lose your job. Communication was very lackingfrom the schedulers. Supervisors changed constantly and at yearly review they didn't know your work performance at all bc they were new and u did not receive a fair review. Raises were majorly lacking. No benefits whatsoever for part time and even if full time the cost was outrageous. Huge lack of training or support from supervisors. It was always "figure it out on your own" mentality. If only we could have reviewed supervisors for their job performance.  There was alot of favortism and the same rules did not apply to everyone. They say the "advantage" of working for Advantage is you can choose your own hours and work what cases you want, when you want but in all reality that is not true. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fantastic company. I proudly work there as the Director of Human Resources. This amazing team has become like family to me. We work really hard and we play hard. By far the most enjoyable, engaging, and competent team I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Individuality is encouraging, respect is given, team work is required

Having more hours in the day to assist my fellow team members

The work environment is centered around kindness, respect, and personal integrity 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In my role, it changes minute-by-minute. I am in charge of the Human Resources function and I wear many hats - employment law, team member relations, conflict resolution specialist, advisor, and counselor

What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients are great. The homes I worked in were nice and clean.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough hours. Traveling . Having to wait until it's time to go to other visits.

Work environment is good. Pts are great. Not enough hours
Over all it's a good company.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends on your schedule.  Alot of respite hours in the evenings.  I had 1 patient that was a 8 hr shift. Had her 2x a week then they took her away and only 1x a week. The rest was driving to Greensburg for 4 hour shifts. Some of the nurses you releave aren't very nice. Watch your back.

As a member of the field staff, one is able to be a hands on care provider.  Relationships built are an important part of the job as the clients depend on you for quality care as they desire. 

Hours vary depending on the needs of the assignment.  Variety in assignments help keep a fresh perspective in the medical field. 

Blending in with the families and keeping consistency in routines helps the client obtain and maintain an improved, functional lifestyle.

Giving one-on-one care allows the employee knowledge of how all the tasks are performed, so it removes concerns of how the job is done.

Honestly the most disorganised, hostile, poorly run company I've ever worked for. Management is also very deceptive and dishonest to both employees and clients. Very low level of professionalism from some managers, rude and inappropriate attitudes. Will not pay you the correct amount so you must pay attention to your pay stubs and track your hourly rate if you're promised a raise to make sure they follow through. Employees are not treated equally, different rules apply for different people. Your hours are not safe either, they will cut them how they see fit with zero notice or regard for you.

good communication ,but  not enough office help in the end just before MRDD closed that side down .atmosphere became more strained if you had to be in the office, I was not happy with the MRDD side as it began to fall apart. Advantage let people go had been there for years, and it continued to deteriorate. Old employees no longer liked to work there. Consumers and workers did not like the office changes, and it had to close its MRDD side, the home health side is still open and seems to be very well managed.

What is the best part of working at the company?
When you have no clients they don't try to help find you any at all. Or call you to fill in for people knowing you don't have a client 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting payed 14 dollars when you clock in on app and then 12 dollars an hour when you sign a paper even if it was because of client having appointment and not your fault you missed it

You work by yourself it's the client that makes or breaks ya

Cleaning peoples homes is a typical day.

I have really enjoyed working for the company. They are caring and willing to work with you when it comes to family needs. However, I have definitely worked over 40hrs/week for the majority of the time. On-call is not too bad but you are not compensated for your time as a nursing supervisor. The company definitely needs to get to date with the technology and the use of computer programs in the scheduling aspect. I feel it would be much more efficient in fulfilling open shifts. This job has been exactly what I have needed having two toddlers to care for. I have been able to enjoy holidays and weekends off and have a pretty set schedule.

I worked for advantage for a couple of years and can not express how poorly organized and managed this company is. From the office staff to the Nurse managers in the office its a mess. Left hand doesnt know what the right hand does.  Not a thorough employee check and will hire anyone who has a heartbeat. The clients and client families are what makes that company stay in business. The office staff shows no appreciation for the field staff and it shouldnt be that way. low pay, horrible benefits and no compensation for mileage.
