A typical day starts with making hospital follow-up appointments and then passing out Medicare regulatory letters. Attend MDR's. Deliver DME equipment to patients. Schedule medical transport for patients to various places. 
I learned that there is a lot to being a Care Manager Assistant, but my manager helped make sure I was doing well and always asked me if I needed anything. 
I loved that they open each day with prayer over the hospital intercom! Everyone works as a team and looks out for each other. 
The hardest part was trying to deliver the regulatory letters or DME to patients who were not mentally able to understand what I was bringing them and I would have to locate their POA to explain / have them sign the appropriate forms. Also, if someone passed away.
I enjoyed my team and our teamwork. I also enjoyed meeting most of the patients and their families. Each day was kind of the same, but different.

First off, the culture here is phenomenal. Everyone I've worked with in this hospital is nice, welcoming, friendly and helpful. No matter how swamped everyone is with work that day, I can always count on them for help.

Management genuinely cares about our physical and mental well-being. We have daily meetings where they ask us all our daily needs and ask any issues we are having and then provide solutions to help us get through our day.

The benefits are really great, from the vision to the dental all the way to the supplemental health insurance options. The only complaint I have is $15 an hour for 12 hours straight is simply not enough money to justify the intense physical labor and non-stop nature of the job.

Would still recommend 9/10 times.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at work can have its challenges but it is always rewarding.

Advent is run only by Adventist religion. To be a CEO you have to convert to their religion, they pay off anyone who sues them for religious discrimination. Lots of people say they like working here, why I don't know. I'd assume its because they want to pray next to the patients. They are very money hungry cut what they can where they can so they can line their own pockets. I'd never suggest working for them. Management are only yes people so they will not fight for the common worker ever. Most in my area only stay because they love their co-workers, for them it's a team mentality.

Some nursing units have excellent management and the nurses are happy, however others not so much. There has been a lot of turnover for the past several years, possibly some of it due to COVID. The hospital system is now doing away with traveling nurses and offering huge sign-on bonuses and retention bonuses. Since half of the staff are currently travelers, Advent Health will need to hire a LOT of nurses over the next 2 months. 

Loved my work family at AHPC!  Miss them so much, currently at a different AH, its just not the same. 

Good support from other RN's, not so much from Supervisors, Charge RN's.

Hardest part of the job:  Patient load when assigned 6 patients.

PCT's/CNA's are amazing!!  Most work very hard.  If you have a good Tech/CNA - it can make your day that much better!

Most enjoyable part of the job: Family like atmosphere among floor RN's and PCT's

What I learned?  Just because its AH, not all locations are run the same.

Upon being hired I was told I would typically have 5 patients each shift & one of those would be being released so the load would feel like 4.5 patients.  Soon I was being told to cover 8 patients at once.  Also there is too much focus on pleasing people who are addicted to pain medicine because they threaten to give poor reviews and the hospital fears losing federal $.

I always am supported in health, spirituality and encouraged to expand my knowledge within my professional scope of work. Room for growth in the person as a whole. AdventHealth’s feel whole model surpasses all others in caring for their employees. 

Working at Advent is rewarding and I feel that they emphasize training and creating a healthy culture for staff and clients.  They offer many incentive programs and compensation opportunities.   They offer flexibility and decent pdo accrual and encourage you to use it.  Overall I have no complaints.
