"The Director for the Northern Michigan Region" likes to talk about herself more than anyone.  Office staff are great when they are not being screamed at by said director.  You can tell when she got "her * handed to her" cause before you open the door to the building you can hear her screaming at office staff.  You will know more about her personal life than you know about the company.  The same stories are told day in and day out to everyone who is around (whether they are interested in listening or not).  

Office tries to help by doing employee appreciations or employee luncheons but when you go to a luncheon the director acts like she is walking into the room on a red carpet and will manage to be able to fit herself into everything that is being talked about and then you listen to her ramble forever about details you do not need to know or care about.  She lets everyone there know who she is, what her title is and claims to be "one of us"...ya right.  

There is no consistency with reprimands.  You can no show for a shift and you still have a job! Others, get their heads cut off.  The scheduler (whose longer there) even said its because the director "trumps" the office manager on certain people.  She tells you that she does not "pull out the director card often," but I can assure you she does it more than she care to ever admit.  Why else would one have to say that EVERY TIME they meet someone.  

This company has potential and is overall a really great company to work for.  AS they say a company is only as great as its weakest link, well she is the weakest link and the reason for a high turnaround and no (very slow) client growth.  She is very unprofessional and has actually told clients how stupid some of the policies are. (I know this because she did an assessment on a family member of mine who went to another company for this reason).Not to mention wasting money to do a drug and TB screen on me at hire.  She told the one who is in charge at the office (as she was filling out the drug screen paperwork) not to bother wasting 12-14 dollars  on the drug screen and signed her name as if she witnessed a clear screen.  For the record, it would have come back clean, but I was appalled by her unprofessionalism.

During my tenure with this company, I experienced significant confusion due to a lack of clear understanding and definition of roles within the organization. Leadership, particularly at the district management level, often lacked the necessary education and management expertise to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.  

I accepted the position with the understanding that there would be opportunities for growth, as I believed the company's mission and goals aligned with my career aspirations. Unfortunately, it became apparent over time that this was not the case. My experience was marked by ongoing challenges with management, who often demonstrated unprofessional and, at times, unethical behavior. Issues were frequently ignored or dismissed, leaving important matters unresolved.  

The lack of effective communication was a recurring problem, contributing to a work environment characterized by hostility and disorganization. Employees were often treated not as valued individuals but as mere contributors to the bottom line. Despite offering constructive feedback on improving the high turnover rate, my input was consistently disregarded, making it clear that employee voices were neither respected nor considered.  

Given the minimal compensation and lack of investment in employee well-being, I would not recommend this company to prospective candidates. Those seeking meaningful growth and a supportive workplace culture would be better served by an organization that genuinely values its employees and is willing to compensate them fairly for their contributions.  


First and foremost I have the best boss hands down I have come to her crying numerous times and she would give you the shirt off of her back there are not many people who would do what she does Initials RLC. A typical work day for the morning shift would be to come in see what grid you have. We have mandatory huddles so we know what's expected then we are to begin getting our residents up and ready for the day and escorted for meals, we change them afterwards doing rounds and change them again before going home and ensure if the client has a shower that day they get the shower done. I have learned so much from this company I worked here for 3 months and the regional aka the best boss in the world said she saw something great in me and offered me a Team Lead role. I have learned proper peri care, I have become a certified med tech, I have learned the management side so billing, payroll, accounts receivables, and accounts payable. I have learned or increased my customer service skills tremendously. Again management is the best. I have also been to other buildings to help out and I get a small pay incentive but something is better than nothing. Every time I go to a building to help out I come back saying how much I love my building. The culture gives family. The hardest part of the job is to see clients you have pass away. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping the elderly. 

A typical day at work would be checking and responding to emails at 8am (unpaid), and working on the usual amount of paperwork that goes with working with insurance and Medicaid for 3-4 hours (also unpaid). There's a lot of unpaid work that you don't want to bill for because the billable hours are of primary importance to the company. Then there's seeing clients and technicians in the field until 8-9pm. While the drive time is paid, the amount of drive time can actually be more than your billable hours. So your average day is a 12-hour day, much of which is going to be unpaid, so that you do not accrue too many nonbillable hours (that aren't drive time - drive time is apparently OK) and thereby attract upper management's attention. 

We won't discuss the endless, constant, often spontaneous, and mandatory meetings. Nor the lack of cooperation with supervised hours. 

The hardest part of the job is telling parents that there are not enough technicians to offer them the direct care they are looking for, and that you on your own cannot provide direct care to all of your clients, although you will try to.

There are some wonderful ABA companies out there. My advice? As the ad states, "DEMAND BETTER" for yourself, and look elsewhere.

No insurance for 1 year, never received their bonus, unreliable hours, you may work a lot of hours one week and next to nothing the next, low mileage pay below the normal pay, no pay increase FOR 6 MONTHS,  No incentives for higher education, meaning they do not support anything for any advancement for schooling. They do favor people, they will get advancement to salaried positions, that are not qualified with no schooling. Ive never worked for a company that's policies are so outrageous. They tell you how to document to get the most pay out for insurance purposes. You can be their for them 24/7 and it wouldn't matter. If another caregiver doesn't show up your bound by law to stay so if you have children this may not be the job for you, make sure you have plan B in place. Days off must be wrote and submitted 30 days in advance so if you attend school you must do this every month. Would I recommend them? No, would I work for them again? No. Its a quick hire, you really need no exspieance at all. I feel sorry for the patients who have entrusted them for their care as well as the families

This job would be more rewarding if there was more communication and acknowledgement. Working with clients in goals made by the BCBA, awesome. There is no community at the job. I engaged more and had more of a work relationship with those not employed by my company who worked in the same room. This company offers more (hours, benefits) when hiring than gives once hired. Hard parts are that the clients call off very short notice for little to no compensation, and there are no other clients to pick up hours. A handful of times, I was not informed by my scheduler that the client called off and I showed up unknowing. Better parts of the job is that if you don't have money for a babysitter for your sick kid, you can call off and they don't say anything to you. You will have to call and check that they got your two weeks notice, because they didn't respond, and they'll cut your hours short anyways. I'd say don't bother, there's plenty of these companies out here who probably won't behave in this way.. 

I have no idea how this is the "money maker office" if I am being honest. None of the managers are good with communication. Constantly "forgetting" to do things they said they would do. This company was awesome when I started, but with some new people in management, it has only gone downhill. There is no training before they send you to client's homes. Some employees come into clients' homes saying they've never used a blood pressure cuff or done a bed bath; anyone and everyone who gets interviewed is hired. They will call you to come into work on days you requested off. They do not care how many hours you have worked that week or that day, they will make you stay for 24 hour shifts if it means they don't have to cover the shift themselves. I do not recommend this branch to anyone. I was a great employee at the company for two years and never got any kind of raise either. 

In Home Health Care is a stramineous job to endure often times, and the staff at this location make it all worthwhile. I feel supported and understood. The gals in the office put client's needs and wellbeing at the top of their priorities. They literally treat them as family members and have the highest level of respect for them, and the employees caring for them. Flexible schedule, always understanding if we need help with a day off or help with really anything personal or work related. The office staff makes working for this company worthwhile. Appreciation gifts, Birthday gifts, holiday gifts, communication newsletters and employee of the months are just some ways they show how much they truly care about us all. They also are one of the best companies I have worked for in regard to incentive pay and mini bonuses offered as a reward for a job well done!  I wouldn't want to work for any other leadership team or client. 

I have been with AdvisaCare for almost 2 years in Tucson Arizona and I absolutely LOVE working for this company. The staff always listens to personal requests and the open door policy is just an added bonus to actually have a boss that really cares about her staff as well as the patients. And make no mistake, they always put the patient first. I do not plan on leaving this job and feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful and caring company.

They do not just hire anyone and the director's motto is "If I wouldn't send the caregiver or nurse or therapist to my parents home, then I wouldn't hire the potential applicant. 

The clients are so appreciative and write letters and cards to the office. They also have employee of the month for the caregivers and employee of the year with monetary compensation. This is just a great place to work! Good Luck to all the applicants!

Advisa Care Homecare was a challenging place to work,  it also was stressful.  When you are taking care of patients in their home you have to have someone there, unlike a hospital where there are others to pick up an slack.  I highly respected their patient dedication.
The CEO was very involved and cared about each and every patient.
As manager my days were very busy and never predictable.  My schedule could totally change at a moments notice. I enjoyed working with the CEO, we had very similar objectives for our quality of patient care.  The hardest part was getting attached to the patients and still watching them pass away.  I really enjoyed the teamwork and working together even if it was at a different branch.
