Beneath its shallow facade, Alignment Healthcare is nothing but another Medicare bilking scheme that appears to be a part of a much larger growing cottage industry. The company’s name is actually an oxymoron, as it is anything but “aligned”. Corporate decision making often appears haphazard, poorly planned and executed. The sands will constantly shift beneath your feet, often without warning or explanation. Employees are disposable pawns, tools to help a few venture capitalists and their crownies get rich on the tax payer’s dime. There is no long term goal here, as the plan is to sell to the highest bidder once the company hits their fabled “5 Star Rating”. For those that don’t know, the more stars a Medicare advantage plan has, the more reimbursement they get from the government. This structure incentivizes the company to soft pressure providers to “up-code”, thus making certain patients appear sicker than they might be in order to obtain more reimbursement. Also, it incentivizes needless office/home visits for its sickest patients, as Alignment gets paid for each patient contact, regardless if anything worthwhile was actually done during those visits. It’s all a racket. Don’t fall for their, “redefining the future of healthcare” line. If this is the future of healthcare, there will be no future. To be fair, some aspects, such as the company’s home monitoring and case management programs, can be very helpful for the sickest of the sick patients, keeping them from the hospital..or worse. Unfortunately, these positive attributes ultimately serve as mere surface dressing to the company’s true intent. A business lead by carpet baggers and empty suites looking to make a buck and then move on. For anyone looking for a long term “home”, there be no home for you here. Only grief, cynicism and resentment.

Got hired as a temp. They will lie to you and say you are doing great and are looking to keep you permanent then the next month say you you have been doing so many things wrong without warning then let you go as soon as the new hire starts. Don’t go to HR cause they won’t do anything even after talking to them. Management gets mad if you don’t do OT. They micromanage every little thing even going to the restroom and question why you took long. Favoritism and gossip is big for lead and management and it is obvious. They try to bring you down instead of lifting you up. They get annoyed and make faces when you ask for help which is discouraging you can ask anyone from member services or concierge. I do not recommend this place for a career. And don’t think they will hire you permanently because they will work hard to not let that happen and get a new temporary employee instead. And management is often wrong when asking for Medicare related things and they blame you for telling patients the wrong info when it is the info they gave you. Not worth the stress. Find something else and hope this helps. 

The organization is very tech savvy, however the daily chaos, frequent staff turnover is brutal on morale. Remote working arrangements were rescinded for staff, and was subsequently allowed for management. Consultants hired were previously known by management, and consulted with select few in the department. The data reported was inconsistent and not verified - impacted the productivity of the department and further lowered morale of the few remaining staff... longest tenure of staff member of the department I worked in as a temp was 2 years. 
Training and orientation was inconsistent - high turnover in HR as well. HR did not have the confidence of the staff as many resolutions were biased. The organization leaders need to verify data provided for reports, examine whether staff is treated fairly.

Company was founded on better "aligning" the process for member healthcare but does not live up to its promise.  I've heard too many horror situation from members that call me and Alignment refuses to take accountability when processing Prior Authorizations, reimbursements and even claims.  They give members the run around, putting their health (and sanity) at high risk.  I can not continue to work for this company without it affecting my conscience as I take my role seriously in assisting elderly members anyway that I can.  AHP has been dropping the ball and it is heartbreaking to hear these members' experiences.  It's a surprise to me that this company has lasted this long.

This company really values and cares for their members. I enjoyed working here and helping out the elderly community.  I’m very passionate about giving back to the community so this job aligned well with me. 

Beware of management! They will take any excuse to fire you on the spot. Without warning or notice. They are very strict as well when it comes to attendance and punctuality like every other job. That wasn’t the problem for me here I understand well the rules. If you’re sick they don’t care, if you had a family emergency they won’t care either, it’s all about business. You get 2 weeks of training, 1 week of solo nesting, and then you’re off to go on your own. If you have the experience in CS do it and if not don’t think of applying. They won’t give you a chance it’s all about getting it right the first time no mistakes. They will say to ask questions, communicate, work hard, and you end up doing those exact things and still get told you’re not performing well. It’s more about if they like you than anything. Watch your back! 

The culture is shifting downward, with an increase in micromanagement, and additional responsibilities. As the team grows, workload and expectations are also expanding. Patient care is trending toward quantity over quality, with more patients added to the daily schedule while visit times are reduced. Documentation requirements have increased significantly, adding pressure to already full workloads. 
Requesting PTO has become more complicated, and the number of required meetings has grown, often conflicting with patient care. If we’re unable to attend live, we’re expected to watch the recordings on our own time. Home visits drive mileage can range from 30-100 miles. Documentation completion is not feasible when you finish your visit because some patients can have up to 20 dx's. Expect to chart after hours without compensation due to the increased workload. 

Explain the plan’s procedures, protocols, benefits, services, and any other necessary information to the members who call the Member Services Department. Answer all incoming member phone calls within the department’s goal timeframe and Medicare guidelines. Respond to complaints against Citizens Choice Health Plan (CCHP) and its contracted facilities by utilizing the departments Complaint/Grievance Policy and Procedure. Make all attempts to resolve all CCHP members disenrollment/cancellation requests, complaint/grievances, and assist the member with their questions or concerns. Process all requests for Primary Care Physician (PCP) changes and short enrollments. Assist members with their transportation needs, schedule and arrange member transportation. Interpret and verify plan’s transportation benefit. Assist with Member Outreach programs and implementations as needed. Foster good corporate relations by practicing excellent customer service principles. Perform any miscellaneous duties assigned by the management team.

The company has the potential to be a great place to work if they would listen to the Nurses and provide better network coverage along with a department head that will back up that team because all other departments blame all problems on the wrong department when it is the responsibility of all and they shouldn't punish they should provide better  incentives and offer remote privileges ONLY to the ones meeting production standards. Employee morale is not a priority too many management changes.  They punish and dump on the one (UM) department that they should be helping with the most since what happens in UM ultimately determines continued contracts with their clients therefore the company's viability as a whole. Rescinded remote privileges because UM was unable to keep up due to bad contracting not a uM issue providers in the system were not even seeing memebrs

Strong lack of direction, have never experienced such a toxic work environment. Overworks salary employees above and beyond, too many endless “ad-hoc” tasks and the stress mounts daily. It’s a complete nightmare leaving for the day, knowing you’ll be back in the pit of chaos tomorrow. This place has the ability to transform employees in a very damaging way and completely siphon the life out of you. Simply put - many of us are not in a fulfilling work environment.. 

Honestly, the best quote that comes to mind is: “Run..run away, and never return!”

-Burnout culture at its finest 
-Thin deadlines with competing priorities that can only be met with working overtime that you'll never be compensated for
-Gaslighting 
-Belittling / condescending remarks 
-Never ending "ad-hoc" tasks 
-Disorganized/No solid processes 
-Non-existent training (have been told on numerous occasions to “just Google it”..
-Cutthroat environment 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The job description stated the role required flexibility across a 24/7 schedule, including various shifts. However, shortly before my interview, I was informed the position is strictly overnight. This is a significant detail that should be clearly disclosed upfront. Greater transparency in job postings would improve the candidate experience.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
False job description. They never said the job was strictly overnight. They said "flexible" rotating shifts. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor communication and lack of information. Omitting important information that would save someone hours in time if they knew in advance the truth. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Never worked for them since I cancelled the interview after finding out they only wanted overnight shifts covered.
