While working at an Allsup's store is a job that's fairly easy to get into and allows you to typically leave work at work without the need (or ability) to bring work home, Yesway is the parent company and a terrible company to work for. There is no value placed on employees or management. Their entire attitude is that everyone is replaceable, and there is no desire to put any effort or focus into employee retention. This creates a revolving door for employees and high turnover rates. It creates a workplace culture where everyone is aware the value is placed on the almighty dollar and no value is placed on the people. 

Their training, while one can be sure it looks good on paper, is impractical and provides very little, if any, actual use and application to the job. Employees are not given any raises for certifications, longevity, or performance. The safety equipment and first aid provided in the stores is negligent, if even provided. Management is trained in a style that focuses on punishment for anything short or perfection, and they are not given the training, tools, or mentoring required to succeed in their roles and perform their jobs effectively. There is no focus on personal or professional growth, and the attitude perpetuated by corporate is one of fear instead of appreciation and training/mentoring. 

The policies and procedures put into place are clearly ones that are made by people at corporate sitting at a desk with no concept of what the actual adherence to those standards does to the ability to perform the job. Employees and management alike are expected to follow those policies and procedures, but when following those same policies and procedures inhibits the ability of employees and management to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently and results in customer complaints or loss of sales, the jobs and livelihoods of the employees and managers are threatened. 

It is as if management and employees are expected to drive a vehicle but forbidden from using any kind of fuel, and then they are punished or terminated because the vehicle cannot be operated without a form of fuel. Corporate takes zero accountability for their role in the destruction of the company from the inside, and the blame falls hardest on those managers and employees who put the most work into doing their jobs and serving customers to the best of their ability. 

If you need a fairly easy and temporary paycheck, it's not a terrible option. But if you are looking for long term employment and growth in your professional skills, look elsewhere. 

I was offered to be a store manager and accepted the offer under the grounds I would be properly trained as the store manager. I was told I would be trained for 2 to many 3 weeks just depending If i needed the extra time. I had 1 day of actual manager training before I was pulled from it and sent to my store to help fill in temporary as a clerk. 8 weeks later I have not had any additional training, i work 7 days a week whatever hours my area supervisor tells me I work. For the past week I had been working graveyard so the only graveyard employee in the store could go on vacation. I had not heard a single thing from my area supervisor all week, so i figured everything was ok, NOT! I went in to work Saturday my normal schedule, started to do my morning paperwork and start the EOD when my supervisor pulled me outside to talk. He then informed me he did not want me as his store manager any more, he didnt even want me in his store as a clerk. I asked what was going on, and he said " you have a poor work ethic, ( I was like WTF? I'm here 7 days a week, bust my butt cleaning, stocking, and straightening up the shelves, i had just work graveyard all week so the store wouldn't be closed but ok I guess?) But the biggest issue he has was when I told him about how unprofessional one of his other store manager is, and how she talked to customers, and they way she talked to brand new employees in front of customers. So he fired me and hired another employee in that store. Not once since I had worked in the store #204 had I ever been coached, talked to, been given any kind of verbal warnings, or been written up. Just all of a sudden out of the blue I was fired from that store. No one has bothered to explain to me where I went wrong when I was never given a chance to act as manager. I was supposed to be getting trained and it never happened. I was told that one of the area supervisors favorit employees was given the position of store manager. I have also found out that while the area supervisor wasn't talking to me about any issues he may have had with me, he was talking to this girl about me, and in turn she was telling him lies about me. But again, i was never talked to, coached, written up, or given any verbal warnings about anything i may have done wrong.

Upon arriving at each location starting with the parking lot making sure all surrounding area were clean as well as gas pumps cleaned and in working condition making sure all filters are clean by changing them monthly or as needed. Entering the store making sure clerks and Mgr we’re dressed accordingly to dress code and greeting people saying thank you etc. walking the store with Mgr to get a list of maintenance issues so I could give to Maintenance personal . As well as discuss any store issues they may have and help them come to a solution to the problem as well as prevent it from happening again if possible. Also making sure inventory was beeping socked and rotated correctly and if delivery or weekly truck delivery being checked in correctly and getting proper  credit if not all merchandise was delivered. Hardest part of job Firing someone, but if needed had no problem doing it . Best part customer service and just getting to know the patrons that shopped us . I had to learn everything from starting as a partime 3rd shift worker to Area supervisor duties quickly as to ensure my area was ran more efficiently I really loved working for Mr. Allsup he was such a great person and treated his employees with respect no matter what position they held . 

A decent choice if you're willing to work retail, Allsups is a decent retail environment. A typical day at work includes dealing with customers, cleaning the store, and periodically unloading and stocking a truck full of new merchandise. The management is usually recruited from the trenches, so career advancement is pretty good. However, these positions are salaried and you will be required to work 50 hours a week, for an hourly wage that's less than the nightshift. The culture is heavily centered around working, but they do not want to pay workers overtime if they can help it. The job is enjoyable when you can get a moment to yourself. Extroverts definitely have an easier time here than Introverts. The hardest part of the job is that if you're not incredibly social and things start getting busy, you'll feel drained and the job  will feel like a slog. It's honestly most enjoyable when you get a second to make the store nice and take a break. However, these breaks do not last, as there is no discount for employees, no provided lunch, and no sanctioned break, meaning that unless you pack a lunch you'll have to buy your lunch at the premises on your own dime, and your choices are not terribly healthy.

Fun place to work, easy job, there's a clear breakdown between corporate and store rules. From store to store the rules vary so greatly that it causes confusion for even the most experienced employee. Despite this, upper management is willing to provide clarification when needed or asked of them.
A typical day at work would include duties such as front facing as well as stocking inventory, cashier work, providing customer service relations, janitorial work, preparing fried foods, loss prevention and inventory control.
Through my employment at Allsup's I have learned how crucial it is to work as a member of a team, and also how to stand on my own when called upon.
Management seem to do their best in taking care of their employees. Where the manager's failed the district manager was always right behind them to pick up the slack.
Hard working coworkers are essential to a good team. Without them is would have been so much harder to get things done in a quick and professional manner. 
The hardest part of any job involving alcohol sales is dealing with intoxicated customers, and Allsup's is NO exception to this rule.

I have enjoyed working with them. I left due to circumstances at the time of my husbands passing and had 3 children that needed my attention. However, they are all grown now, married and on their own and I am ready to conquer the workforce again. Although it has been a very long time, I enjoyed this job and the work I accomplished there and the people I worked with. As it taught me so much more for what I had to be prepared for what was to come in my future. I love working with people and socializing and helping others out. 
The hardest part of the job I would say was dealing with the extremely irate customers who went way to far with hurtful words however, I have learned to see it from a different perspective like, how they really feel and that it isn't directed toward me it is the situation they endured that brought them to this point.
The most enjoyable part was knowing that I showed one person that I genuinely cared and brightened their day. I left them with a different look and reminded them that what they do is truly important and they are appreciated for their hard work.

•A typical day at work is staying busy frying food and helping customers with a few minutes in between to clean and straighten the store.
•My coworker are pretty nice and get along well with each other, there might be some bickering about who doesn't do what but it's usually forgiven/forgotten by the next day.
•The two current managers treat you like family an will help you have a healthy work-life balance. If you need to clock out a few minutes to take/pick-up your kids from school they make sure to be there to cover for you those few minutes.
•The hardest part of the job is quite literally the floor. Having stand/walk on concrete the entire shift really hurts your feet and they don't have the mats that help relieve the stress on your feet.
•So far the most enjoyable part of the job are the customers, they are great and it's a great town to work at. Sometimes if you're so tired it shows, you'll get a customer that will crack you up and put a bigger smile on your face.

Allsup's is a great company to work for.  Being family owned and local, it brings with it a sense of belonging.  Known best of course for its burritos, it is in fact a large and growing operation which benefits the state of New Mexico well.  It has been a great pleasure working for this company and I hope it continues to do well in the future.  
A typical day at work includes writing schedules, working with vendors, assisting other store managers in their daily tasks, recruiting and hiring of new employees, general daily operations (cash count, cigarette inventory, ordering,  etc), and general training of clerks and managers.
I believe the hardest part of the job is the occasional need to terminate an employee.  I would always rather train and correct than terminate or need to discipline an employee.  
It always brings great pleasure to see employees succeed in their jobs, gain advancement, and eventually be able to give myself advice.

As a clerk working for Allsups, I must be prepared to handle any situation that may arise on any given day.  Typically this position is extremely busy from start to finish.  The job duties include handling cash transactions utilizing both  P.O.S., R.U.B.Y. and Lottery register systems. Working with customers to ensure a positive experience with our store. Working with vendors in a professional manner and checking in product etc.  Stocking product on shelves.and putting up sighnage, cleaning the store as necessary.  Preparing food for sale and training new employees.Running reports and balancing  cash at the end of shift. The management at my store is very supportive. We are encouraged to share ideas for improvement.  Also, we have a very supportive workplace culture in which we all support each other.  The hardest part of the job is the physical element.  We lift unload and put up heavy product. Also we are not allowed to sit, so we are on our feet constantly and do not get breaks.  The most enjoyable part of the job is working  with the public.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The customers were the best part. They were from all over in the big rigs. I also got to see the dedicated workers who always grab a energy drink before work. I love altus and all of the people. I have worked in altus all my life and there are places that everyone goes; Walmart, McDonald's, and allsups 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lotto tickets and the big rig gas register. I always got nervous because I didn't want to mess up and I felt like I never really learned how to do it without asking or guessing.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's different now like any convenience store..a few regular employees that will work there forever and a few new faces.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depending on the schedule, the day would start busy on the after school rush then cleaning and stocking up would be next . Sometimes you can do it all and sometimes you're lucky if you got a couple burritos in the case
