You are working in a families home caring for the family member/ child. You literally never see office staff and you only talk to them over text messaging or a phone call every now and then but only if they have a question for you.  An RN will visit you about every 3 months for maybe 10mins to bring supplies and do their own little assessment of your patient. I’ve worked here for 2 years now (been a nurse for 4 years) this job definitely ideal for new grads or someone going through schooling. I was able to finish my associates by doing majority of my school work at work while my work baby was napping. 

Benefits aren’t the greatest especially their health insurance. You’re better off buying it privately than through the company. You get 5 sick days every fiscal year (used to only be 3). 
You don’t get paid time off but you can work it out with the family to make up hours for that week. 
There’s a company tablet in the home for charting which is new, you used to have to do paper charting and send it out every week. 

The best way to describe this job is that you are basically a glorified babysitter.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great employee help/support from supervisors.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I wouldn't really say my job is overly stressful. The late hrs I work can be a bit challenging at times.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very professional and supportive work environment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I am responsible for obtaining a full report from my client's guardian upon arrival for my shift. I then person an assessment of my client and record and document full vital signs. For the duration of my shift I monitor my client and provide written documentation for my observations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Flexible schedules. Nurses can request changes in their shifts if they have emergencies and commitments outside their regular schedule 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When patients are sent to the hospital or when they go on vacation nurses do not have income for those days

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Performing nursing care for assigned patients usually children with disability

I liked the patient I worked with, his family was nice as well. The only real problem with AHN is that there is a real lack of wages, its not the companies fault, they pay what they can. But you only get so much money per hour to provide nursing care for this kind of patient. They had a real narrow profit margin. The RN back up was solid when the patient was in need of real nursing and they would let you use sick hours if your patient was hospitalized, you just called in sick those same days.

time off is largely dependent on the home health clients ability to accommodate you, not the company.

Sick days ? I think you get one? 

Support is hit or miss, depending on who is helping the employ with the issue in question.

Poor pay.  Not so great assignments no other agencies want - thus, less than desirable families, despite you truly wanting to be there and provide care for the patients!  Poor management - they don't care about you - they just want to do their job and have it completed despite your physical and mental well being.

Lovely company to work for! I enjoyed gaining experience with home health and was trained on site by another Licensed  Vocational Nurse. Working in the home of my client was an interesting experience and I found it to be a bit like Social work.

All I can say is they treated the nurses and aides wonderfully, which they deserved for sure.  They were wonderful.  Expected a lot from the office staff without the  guidelines needed to excel in their positions.

Always Home Nursing Service expects compliance with policies. Reminders are given for TB test, nursing license renewal, flu shot, CPR renewal, continuing education. Failure to complete a scheduled task means no work.
