This job has an incredible amount of potential, but is unfortunately very poorly managed by individuals with little or no experience in the pharmacy world. These managers get the final word in making decisions that have a profound impact on the end product and ultimately the well-being of their patients/customers. There are massive quality gaps in pretty much every department you can think of, but these are often overlooked to drive numbers and money. Amazon is trying to operate their pharmacies as if they were your run-of-the-mill Amazon fulfillment centers. There are so many quality pharmacists that genuinely want to help improve patient safety, but their hands are tied because for some reason the staff pharmacists have zero say/influence in policy and procedure. 

Amazon Pharmacy recently laid off more than 50% of a single facility and used a computer algorithm to determine who was let go… The result? A massive backlog of work, a bare-bones team of pharmacists and technicians drowning in work and expected to produce the same results. Top performing pharmacists were somehow flagged by this algorithm and let go, while pharmacists who habitually called out and performed significantly below standard were maintained. Multiple pharmacists have quit since the layoff due to the deteriorating environment and incompetent coworkers that remained. 

Amazon is taking a page from retail pharmacy’s book and trying to maximize numbers/profit by cutting corners, reducing staff, and creating significant quality gaps in the process. If you’re a pharmacy employee: do not work here. If you’re a pharmacy customer: do not get your meds here. Your life and health will be better for it. 

Managers were ineffective. They said that they required that we meet quotas that we could almost never meet if we were being sufficiently thorough and careful in our work. Instead of setting quotas that were doable with perfect customer service, they pushed for faster and more sloppy processing. This is really upsetting when it comes to people’s health. Basically, Team Leads didn’t manage things, they were meant to quell worker unrest and make you feel like a problem for bringing up issues.

Those who kept screwing up people’s medications (saying they weren’t covered by the customer’s insurance even when they were), were not let go despite frequent mistakes. This was frustrating, and especially applied to brand versus generic medications.

At least one employee kept messing up customers’ medications by doing things like saying they weren’t covered by insurance when they were. 

Some colleagues are brilliant and work hard to make sure that customer needs are met. Some have to sneak around to do things the ethical way because management doesn’t support what’s right over what is easy. Some managers have obviously good intentions, but others don’t. 

The Human Resources equivalent, People Ops, comes off as snobby and entitled, as do some managers at Team Leads.

Pros: It is hard to get fired, unless you are late. You learn a lot. You can get hired with very little experience. You can get trained as a pharmacy tech on company time, plus 20 hours of studying for the exam outside of work.

Cons: You might feel like you’re fighting management to keep customers safe. Turnover is high (many people worked there for only a few months). Management is too close with some Team Leads for anyone to feel comfortable bringing up TL issues with managers.

Worst management I have ever seen in my years of working. As well as  Favoritism beyond belief I have never seen such favortism in my years of working at other places. There is no or very little communication.  Changes are made but no one is  told then you get in trouble for something you never knew about. Very  Negative atmosphere.   Worse place to work unless you are a "chosen favorite"  Favoritism is not based on job performance. It's based on who the managers like.  Several forms of discrimination sre ongoing at Pillpack.  No help from current human resource department.   Absolutely no follow through on help or questions. No promotions unless you're a favorite.
Accounts are a mess. Management more worried about getting.the Que down than making sure each customer is taken care of with complete and thorough care. Making it so much pressure that representatives  speed through accounts and  helping customers and don't get accounts taken care of appropriately.  Quantity is number one  to management. But then if mistakes are made the rep who made them are fired ..when in reality poor management is to blame.
Workers are highly micromanaged.  Treated like children. Belittled , controlled, unless your favored. 
 Stay away and apply elsewhere..I  would never recommend this place to anyone.  Hope one day they clean house in the management department. Maybe then Pillpack will be an honorable place to work. 
It's a revolving door.at PP. Constant hiring, firing and good hard workers quitting due to poor management and blatent favoritism.

Worked for the company for 6 years, starting prior to Amazon acquisition, and it mattered zero when it came time for the annual layoffs. Amazon sees employees as bottom lines and numbers, not as people, and you will be laid off regardless of whether you're a top performing employee with long standing employment tenure. There is not a single job or position at this company where you are safe, they will lay you off and force the surviving team members to cover your work or replace you with an Amazon corporate drone. The company has barely any middle level leaders left due to layoffs and then asks why employees have no drive for advancement. 

Amazon is obsessed with metrics but even being a top performer and meeting all their demands and expectations will not save you from being laid off. Your work will be constantly monitored and micromanaged, and there is no work/life balance for anyone on the corporate/support side. Bonuses given to other teams at the company will be arbitrarily withheld from others based on job codes. Mandatory return to office requirements can be enforced at any time, with zero consideration for travel expenses, and was often used as a tool to force employees to quit so they didn't have to pay out severance or unemployment. Pay "raises" are barely anything and are largely given as unvested stock deposits that you cannot cash out for years, and if you quit or get laid off then you lose all unvested stock.

Save yourself a lot of heartache and anxiety and do not work here, you will only be disappointed in the end. The benefits were the only good part of this job but it's not worth it.

Amazon Pharmacy consistently is striving to improve so you can expect that things will constantly be changing. It’s a very easy job if you can follow directions. They provide a few weeks of paid training. I really enjoyed the training and the trainers were very kind and helpful to everyone. If you want to improve there are 1:1s with your team lead and team meetings as well. The only two things that I dislike are going 2-3 hours without a bathroom break, I had to get an accommodation from my doctor to go to the bathroom. We have two 15 minute paid breaks and one 30 minute unpaid lunch break. If your not on break they don’t want you to use the restroom. Management is 4/5 stars: everyone is polite and helpful however sometimes I feel like the managers are confused or overwhelmed to the point where it can affect your work a little. But again this job has the most resources I’ve ever seen. If you have a question it will be answered in minutes so you never have to go long without knowing or stuck on the phone with a customer. Management is always willing to help and they care a lot about their employees. The work environment is fun because agents are put on different teams and we all compete. During slow days we all have a chat we share and everyone is included which I appreciate so there is no shunning. We use gifs a lot and joke. Honestly if you are someone that stays on top of communication and asks for help when you need it this job will be really fun for you! There are also emails sent out about once a month about career advancement so that is an option too.

Extremely poor management that is decided by popularity. When the company started to grow, they threw jobs at "friends" of the CEO. The HR department is comprised of numerous people with no degree or HR background. 

Job promotions are a joke. They only promote friends. Don't bother becoming an expert at your job, because they will just promote someone else because they don't want to train someone to do your work.

After the Amazon acquisition, we actually LOST vacation time. Our discounts are nonexistent. 

They are not ADA compliant on many things, but most importantly they do not have the proper items for people with mobility issues, such as wheelchairs. When it comes to mental disabilities, don't even try. They assume you're making it up to get out of work.

Extremely high turnover rate. People leave and come back, and are punished for doing so. They do not offer competitive pay based on experience. You will make one salary, and that is it. No negotiation. That's a large reason why they have the majority working there with no prior pharmacy experience because no one is going to take a huge pay cut (and benefits cut) to work there. 

It's a giant call center. All work is done on the phones. 

No synchronicity on pharmacist discretion. For every single pharmacist they hire, they let them do their job as they please. No procedure in place so as to not limit discretion in any way. With that, the technicians don't know how to properly do their job as each pharmacist has a different way of doing things.

They sold us out to the highest bidder, and didn't look back.

I have been working at PillPack for about two years now. It’s a start up company with a great culture. Because it’s a start up, there are a lot of changes and growth happening. Sometimes these changes aren’t properly communicated, and some things change so fast that every once in awhile it fosters a confused and tense atmosphere. The good thing about this is that the management and higher ups really care about the company and its employees, and actively work to improve the situations and make our lives easier. They are always grateful of the employees here- we often have lunches bought by our managers, they will do nice things for us on National Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist day, and do fun activities for holidays and things like Earth Day. They offer trivia nights and other fun gatherings outside of work, and everyone is so diverse that it’s easy to make friends who share similar interests to yours, whether its gaming or gardening to reading or sports. They have clear, mapped out career progressions for each department, and there is plenty of room for growth over time. They also offer study sessions and pay for your certification test! They offer generous time off and benefits, and competitive pay. Out of three different career paths, working at PillPack has by far been my favorite job. It gets stressful at times, but knowing we are helping people manage their medications and that the company is working to make our lives easier as well definitely helps.

I was with PillPack for a little over a year and a half. When I first started, I absolutely loved it. I was trusted to meet my metrics without management breathing down my neck and the environment was friendly and accommodating. However, something happened about 11 months into my employment. The culture and atmosphere changed. PillPack starting treating it's employees as pawns rather than people. 
After about 13 months into my employment they began giving me responsibilitys beyond what my job description entailed. When I vocalized interest in progressing/ being appropriately compensated, I was chastised. PillPack does have a career progression plan, however, my direct department manager told me they expected me to act as a supervisor while still having the title and compensation of an associate. When I disagreed with their perspective I was even told I was 'too emotional' to deserve advancement opportunities. 
I did used to really love this job. The idea of making medication management easier for people with chronic disease, was something I wanted to be a part of. I was even willing  to sacrifice making less than areas average as my home situation was stabe. However, being treated as a pawn by a company who did not care about my professional goals was not something I could continue to be a part of. I recommend you steer clear of PillPack.

In all of 3 years that I have worked for this company so far, not a single person in my department has been promoted. People on the department below us and the departments above us? Absolutely! Left and right we receive promotion for permanent and interim roles being received by those around us. In the interviews for the role, we were promised advancement, incentives, and a diverse workforce that connected and supported one another. They too our fun away and put a halt to connecting with our peers. They fired the training department and then created an “ambassador” program for our department to participate in. The incentive? Nothing but a name recognition once in a while. As an ambassador, you quite literally train the new people coming in for no additional pay or benefits. In addition, there’s nowhere to go but laterally. However, in the first year of my working there, there were 3 massive layoffs. My department wasn’t touched as it’s chronically short staffed. So even if you try to move out to move up, you sacrifice job security. 

It’s honestly the worst place I’ve worked in 25 years of working. The only redeeming quality is the parental leave options and the fact you get to work from home. 

The pay really is a great highlight of this job.
You start accruing PTO from the first day you work, you also have your health benefits: Medical, Vision, and Dental along with other great benefits that start from DAY 1!!! They even provide help if you or your partner have issues with infertility, they offer so many different and awesome benefits. This job really is amazing, there really is so much help for you through your shift. If you have a call you aren’t sure how to handle or what you need to do all you need to do is listen to what the customer needs and put it in your notes, and then you have your help center, and the customer care questions chat to reach out to higher up agents to help you with the issue or if you are just stuck, even if you just need clarification. I feel like a lot of the other call centers I worked at you would get shunned for reaching out for help and anyone I’d ask for help would basically tell me to use my resources and it would make the call take that much longer, but not here! Here at Pillpack they encourage you to reach out for help if you need it.
