This was my first full time job out of college and I had no idea what to expect. This experience was far better than I could have imagined. I have learned a lot and grown tremendously. 

To me, the people absolutely make the job. I have found some of my closest friends in the Care Center. Everyone is extremely open and welcoming. People genuinely want to include others and get to know you. The coworkers are the type to surprise you with a coffee and breakfast on a day you needed it the most or send you a funny meme when you need a laugh. 

Beyond the people, the company culture is great! There are always festivities around holidays and the office goes ALL OUT to say the very least. There are many themed weeks with costumes, decorations, and prizes. My favorite is during Christmas when the office has a cubicle decorating contest. It was a blast! 

Management is also really strong. They really care about making sure that each individual has a positive experience and genuinely want to see you grow, both personally and professionally. The environment is one in which you are challenged yet not afraid to make mistakes, as supervisors are very patient and will do everything they can to help you succeed.

For me personally, I felt the job was valuable as I learned a lot about the mental health field as well as how to listen and connect with patients. 

One challenge in the role is that there are many calls in the day. Some are extremely uplifting, listening to patients share positive and inspiring stories. However, many calls are extremely heavy and can be hard to hear. As someone who is very empathetic, I quickly had to learn how to transition quickly from call to call rather than being overwhelmed by emotion. 

Overall, I highly recommend this job. The people, culture, management, and great bonus structure all make the job worthwhile. Also, for me personally, it was a great way to get started with the company. After about a year, I was able to move into the marketing department and I continue to see a future for myself growing in the company in the future. 

My experience here was frustrating, stressful, and ultimately disappointing.

There is an intense focus on revenue, but employees are not given the tools, support, or quality leads needed to realistically meet expectations. You’re held to high standards without a fair opportunity to succeed, which creates constant pressure and burnout.

Leadership is inconsistent and lacks accountability. Concerns raised by employees do not appear to be taken seriously, and there is a noticeable difference in how people are treated. This creates an environment where speaking up feels discouraged rather than valued.

Coaching is one of the biggest weaknesses. Feedback is often generic, repetitive, and not tailored to actual performance or real call situations. It frequently feels like it’s pulled from pre written or AI generated guidance rather than based on thoughtful review of individual calls. Because of this, coaching comes across as impersonal and surface-level, making it difficult to actually improve.

Communication is disorganized. Expectations change frequently, updates are unclear, and there is little alignment across leadership. Employees are often left confused and trying to piece things together on their own.

For a company that promotes mental health, the lack of internal support is concerning. The role involves emotionally demanding work, yet there is minimal meaningful support for employees. Benefits can also be difficult to use due to high out of pocket costs, which adds to the frustration.

Overall, the company promotes a positive mission externally, but the internal experience does not reflect those values. It is a high-pressure environment with limited support, weak leadership, and little investment in employee success.

After spending my days as a barista for the last 4+ years, walking into the Call Center for the first time was very scary and intimidating, but this  incredible team of individuals was so welcoming and eased my anxiety nearly immediately. Within my first few weeks I got one on one coaching and training from my supervisors daily. They go at your own pace and truly set you up for success in your position. 

I love having a management team who genuinely cares about their employees. They push us to reach our goals and beyond every single day. They are always there to cheer us on and to make us laugh between calls (which is needed because we get some very tough and emotional calls). 

The hardest part of this job is some of the calls. We get people calling in who have been through it all and they are hurting more than we can ever imagine. Sometimes taking a breath between calls is needed. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is all of the positive and supportive people I get to be surrounded with everyday. We are all like minded individuals who genuinely want to help others and to spread a positive new set of eyes on Mental Health. I love walking into work and seeing everyone's faces each day.

This job can be hard and mentally / emotionally taxing at times, but if you are passionate about mental health, want to help people, or seek a supportive, fun, genuine, and positive work environment then this is the job for you ! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Overworked, blatant favoritism, management takes no accountability for mistakes, if you put in your two weeks just know you’ll be fired that same day. Subpar health insurance from a mental health place. Expected to attend work events, the Clinic Director will make comments if you don’t. If you speak up about the unfairness, you’re labeled at a disrupter and a bully. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pay not worth the work or else it would be manageable. The patients treat you like dirt because the clinic allows it. The policies are always changing without proper communication. Workload is ridiculous yet your job is never safe. Someone is always being fired

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic work environment. Clinic Director extremely inappropriate with personal information. Clinic Director came into the room on the phone with a colleague whose mother recently passed. She decided to tell everyone without that employees consent. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Responding to patient emails while creating expense reports, answering calls, scheduling/ rescheduling, creating prior authorizations, handling check outs, inputting medical record release requests, scanning in documents, charging appointments, sending out reminders, covering multiple doctors at a time while completing all of the same tasks above, calling patients back about certain inquiries. Some phone calls taking up to 30 minutes

Don’t work here. More specifically don’t work for BrainMD their supplement store. The call center is stressful. They give you low pay and expect you to save subscriptions and sale product but you don’t get any kind of commission. They don’t tell you until you start the job that you CANT miss a Monday ever. Requesting time off will cause you stress and anxiety. I worked here for over 2 years. Got told constantly I would get a promotion but the call center is so small that they won’t ever promote anyone. But they will give you the extra work for sure! Call you a “work horse” yet no benefits to that. You’ll do the work of 5 people and get nothing. They want sales representatives without the commission or extra pay. They expect you to do it anyways for your low $18-$20 an hour while doing the other work too that was supposed to come with your regular job title. Also, HR is a joke. They are rude and catty women that you will NEVER feel comfortable going to. They will hear you out and then turn around and fire you. There are constant issues within the job too, the website doesn’t work, the warehouse can’t get things under control. It’s all a joke. The things they require you to do, you can get so much more money for, trust me. I now have a job that pays much more money and I am no longer depressed and stressed out. Just don’t work here!

You will never move up in this role. The supervisor and his little underlings have all been in their positions for 8+ years and with their easy jobs they're not going anywhere.

On top of that, they're very unprofessional in the warehouse. The supervisors want to be everyones buddy instead of their boss, so if he likes someone enough they can do whatever they want. Some examples include: Screaming random phrases at the tops of their lungs 10+ times throughout the day. Rage screaming in the bathroom 1-2 times a week. Telling you you're not doing enough while multiple people are standing around as you pull their weight.

If this doesn't sound ideal to you, I would advise running away as quickly as possible. The HR team is extremely shady too. They do NOT have your best interests in mind and have been reprimanded for trying to plant dirt on a call center supervisor. 
Seriously, run from here as fast as you can. This is a toxic work environment.

This company will give you "performance" raises and then immediately start hiring in new people at what you just had to earn. If you try to confront them about it to rectify the situation, they will just fire you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
SALES! Don’t be fool, this position is strictly a sales position. You are not a mental health professional helping anyone. This place is a scam. They scam people that are struggling most. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful company to work for. All a numbers game. Sell the most spect scans! Sell, sell, sell! We read off of a script and laugh behind your back. There’s nothing normal about this job. They make it seem like they’re helping people. Amen Clinics is just selling scans, advertising that we can help anyone and everyone. The more scans we sell, the more commission we get for the month. Amen Clinics doesn’t care about anyone’s wellbeing. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day includes getting upwards of 20 callers a day. Everyone has the same story about anxiety and depression and we read the same script to each person over and over again trying to sell the most scans. The more scans you sell the more incentives. The employer and employees don’t care about the people struggling with mental health issues. This company has nothing to do about mental health and everything to do with selling. This is a sales position, not a mental health position.

When I first applied, the organization appeared to be mission-driven and focused on helping people. However, after starting the role, I felt the environment was much more sales-oriented than I expected. The job posting and the day-to-day expectations didn’t fully align, and the position involved a heavy emphasis on meeting sales goals.

During training, I often felt unsure about how to talk about the services in a clear and comfortable way. Expectations around how we described certain offerings sometimes felt confusing and false advertising which made it difficult for me to feel confident and comfortable in my role. When I brought up concerns or asked for clarification, I didn’t always feel supported.

I also didn’t feel comfortable with the overall workplace culture. The environment sometimes felt judgmental, and I found it hard to be myself. There were moments when interactions the coaching staff felt inconsistent, which added to the discomfort. This made it challenging to feel grounded or supported while trying to do my job.

In summary, my experience at the company was disappointing and emotionally draining. I believe the organization could benefit from clearer communication, more transparency, and a more supportive work culture for employees.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working there was the staff at the operational level. Many employees cared deeply about patients despite significant leadership and organizational challenges.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Leadership culture was one of the biggest stressors. Many employees felt advancement and decision-making were influenced more by personal relationships than merit, while staff were simultaneously under intense pressure to meet revenue expectations. Daniel Amen and his CEO are known for No Margin No Mission as well as More Margin More Mission. The company makes its money off SPECT Imaging. If patients come to Amen Clinics without a SPECT, there is no margin. This creates financial pressure on the staff to push more sales. Employees join because of their love of caring for the patients. This company is about margin and not patient care.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company culture is riddled with fear, backstabbing, and zero psychological safety. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sales pressure, avoiding the leadership team at all costs, and looking forward to 5:00 when the day is over.

A typical work day as a Care coordinator is answering calls throughout the day from potential patients. Being that you are the first touch it is very important to show compassion and allow the caller to really feel that your role is to make the best recommendations. It is not one size fits all at the Amen Clinics . All services are customized to the patients needs. Product knowledge and the ability to communicate are very vital to this position. The training in place is effective in that there is a process that needs to be adhered too. The workplace culture is absolutely amazing and the co-workers are very close knit and caring. It is a care center in its truest form. Management is also amazing in that they are always readily available whenever you may need anything. This would include if you just need to share that you may be struggling they are very compassionate.
Although at times calls can be difficult, at the end of the day you are making a difference and impacting a patients life who is struggling with mental health. You leave work feeling good about your job.
