All I can say is I liked working at Amwell but, mostly all of their jobs are remote and temporary. I was only trained for two weeks and didn't have access for almost about a month when I started. At first the job seemed easy as a remote billing specialist. All you do is email clients/members all day but, recently Amwell has been getting bad reviews from the patients end due to having connectivity issues and response time delays. I was hoping to be put on perm but unfortunately things changed. All I can say is Amwell is a nice place if you wanna to gain some experience but, you will never land perm. The other issue was trying to understand what exactly the patient was trying to explain including the subject in the description. I just felt if I had the proper training and no tech issues in the beginning I think I could have done a better job. Oh well, at least I tried. It was only a 4 or 6 minth position. 

A typical day for me would depend on where in the SWDLC we are at. If we are in the development phase then all of my time is strictly spent on building out new functionality. My day usually consists of a blend between implementing new functionality and fixing defects that may come up. Some days I am working on 10 different things at the same time which can be rather hectic. 

The hardest part of the job is dealing with decisions of management. Oftentimes they will ask for new functionality but will not have visual designs or wire frames. This makes it quite annoying and frustrating because then the developers are left guessing what needs to be done. Also, management has a habit of giving unrealistic deadlines for projects and expects them to be done. 

I have made some great friends here. I really enjoy challenging myself and being a part of something that is new and helpful to the world.

You pick up quickly what the job is. We are essentially helping doctors navigate our systems when problems arise, and assisting in other admin tasks such as appointment scheduling, resolving prescription issues, and overseeing patient flow and maintaining low wait times. We also escalate and collaborate with other teams in order to effectively resolve problems in a timely manner. In my opinion, Amwell is a great place to work because you learn how to work as a team with other people. It also seems that there is room for growth and advancement within the company as it is constantly growing and expanding and looking for people within who have new ideas. I am truly excited to see what the future holds for me at American Well.

Working at American Well is like being in an emotionally abusive relationship.

Good office location, decent pay, decent benefits.

Hostile culture, which trickles from the top down, so it is unlikely to change, which will make you think like you are going crazy. 

Managers are managers because they have been working there the longest and do not know how to manage. Poor management and even if a colleague has had multiple direct reports report terrible and borderline verbally abusive behavior of them, they will still get promoted.

Annual raise is not guaranteed.

If you are looking to learn and build on your resume, then this may work, but you will likely only be able to handle working here for 1 year as this company bleeds talent.

I performed in a customer service role surrounded by great coworkers. I found the abundance of information and framework for accessing it quite lacking however, as their Sharepoint was a mess. I was also let go a month prior to my end date through my contractor due to the managers’ displeasure in my work progress. However, I had been given no sign of this prior to this news or even in progress reviews. Completely blindsided me, but I figured it was due to the other contractor being more of what they needed as the COVID outbreak started.

There is ZERO room for advancement, all counselors get $55 flat for sessions.  The platform is not "cutting edge," it's a glitchy, clunky,  and when clients weren't just no-showing, they were just unable to connect to the video session since the platform simply does not work reliably.  It does not work with mobile data when clients are parked in their cars.  Therapists are blamed for problems and never given kudos, bonuses or any positive reinforcement of any kind. for 5 Star sessions.  "Group supervision" was led by an individual without clinical endorsement, and felt more like a communist struggle session than supervision.  Very disappointing experience. 

The company is trying to do well - trying to have good standards, quality care.  However, as a PRN physician, the pay is not sufficient to warrant setting aside the time for this.  I have tried this for 3 months now.  I did have a couple of short shifts where I saw a reasonable number of patients.  But now that is not occurring - sometimes I will see one patient in an hour.  My monthly reported indicated that the average number of patients seen by all physicians the previous month was 1.3 per hour.  I needed a little extra cash during a job transition, but overall this is not worth my time and I will not continue.

American Well is an innovative company that values employee growth and opportunity. They have taken noticeable steps to improve company culture, including service opportunities, all hands meetings, and sponsored fitness classes. My position in Marketing allowed me to constantly learn on the job, so there was never a dull moment. The environment at American Well is best suited for those who are adaptable and open to change. If you're looking for an innovative company with high expectations and high reward, this is the place for you.

Amwell has many changes to make. They lack in so many areas and are the LOWEST paying platform. They do not compensate for no shows and late cancelations but take a fee. This demonstrates their disrespect towards mental health providers. Our time is valuable. They recently started paying bi-weekly instead of monthly but that does not help the situation. You need to re-evaluate. When you're paying the people 50% or less of what you make and they are the reason you exist, there is an issue. 

Was hired for a position and happily filled it for 6 months. Worked with some of their largest customers and a mad pace during the pandemic. When they decided to go public, I was re-assigned to another manager after they fired the two people I was hired by, given another position with no real training and micromanaged right out of the company and tossed into the Pandemic with no job and no health insurance.

Their motto is "Family First".
