Angels of Care Pediatric Home Health

I started my position very eager to grow with the company. Unfortunately, I learned very quickly that the amount of work and expectations put on you did not exemplify the salary you were receiving. I was expected to work past the normal business hours and at times the weekend. What should have been an appreciation from management for being flexible slowly became an expectation of staff. After determining a better job offer for a non-management role, I put in my two weeks notice. The pay for a management position is far below the market value of what nurse managers should be paid. Promises of bigger and better amounted to a 3% merit raise that not everyone gets. Just those who went “above and beyond”. When negotiating terms, it was stated that they couldn’t increase my pay to what was fair market value pay for a nurse case without a title change. The title change would be a branch director managing two branches. Essentially more work for the same amount of pay I would receive to work as a nurse in a non-management position. I ultimately decided to hand in my two weeks resignation and then started to notice the change of attitude from upper management. Unfortunately, I tried to write it off as me being sensitive, however other staff members noticed the change in behavior of upper management towards me. Ultimately, I decided that I wasn’t going to tolerate that behavior and submitted my resignation for effective immediately. At the end of the day, a two weeks notice is a courtesy to help the company transition. However, it was more than clear that my courtesy was not being appreciated. Additionally, my employment was an at will employment that stated two weeks notice was requested. Apparently though, the employee handbook states four weeks for managers. There are a lot of things the company needs to work on to become more organized. But first, teaching upper management to keep their emotions to themselves and maintain professionalism would be a start. Benefits are also horrendous. 10 days per year and no increase until 3 years in. Additionally, they state that on call is apart of the salary however the salary is mediocre that you almost dont want to do on call and just get a paycut. A lot of the issues I came across with upper management really shed light to how toxic of a work environment some of the staff are in. Overall, the company felt cliquey. Some branches favored over others. You could be told one thing and find out the next day that you werent supposed to do it that way. Very disorganized and unappreciative.

I currently work as part of the Transitional Care Team called "HALOS". Halos is an acronym that stands for:
Heart, Advocacy, Love, Outreach, Speed. The HALOS Transitional care team is developed to ensure that every child and family we provide care for knows that they are being cared for by the best of the best nurses, who are expertly trained so the family or caretakers can feel assured that every child we provide skilled nursing for is loved, 100% completely care for to ensure that the team work it takes to make each individual child, and their personalized Plan of Care is being  adhered to without a doubt. 
I have worked in the Home Healthcare industry for upwards of 13+ years and I am proud to say that I can stand behind every morale and company mission value that is upheld at Angels of Care. 
My position as Team Lead of the Halos Team is to ensure that every employee we send into the field is trained expertly, with a skill set that will not ever faulter. I will provide clinical education, hands on training, and ensure that every employee has  a person of contact for support both in the office, and in the field. 
Angels of Care PA teams provide skilled nursing and Home Health Aide services in 39 counties across the state, with 7 office locations, and as the communities needs continue to grow, Angels of Care will continue to grow, providing our expanding patient and family based needs with the excellent services they can expect!

What distinguishes my experience here is being an integral part of the business development team, allowing me the privilege to make a significant difference in the lives of hundreds of families grappling with the overwhelming challenge of finding essential resources for their special child. Our mission extends beyond the basic provision of care; we strive to bring hope and support to these families, ensuring they feel valued and understood.

My role necessitates close collaboration with case managers and social workers across multiple children's hospitals in various states. This expansive network highlights the organization's comprehensive reach and its unwavering commitment to serving the needs of special children and their families, far and wide. The ability to work hand in hand with these professionals across state lines not only amplifies the impact of our work but also enriches my professional growth and personal fulfillment.

I start my shift arriving at the patient's home and greeting my patient. I receive report and check ventilator settings with off going nurse.  Assessing patient and make necessary interventions's as needed keeping RN and doctor parents, patient, and informed of any changes. Receiving and charting orders during shift. Checking the chart for changes and reviewing plan of care at begging of shift before giving meds. or care. Begin by following doctor's orders and angency's patient care plan for the night. Monitoring all equipment for proper function and settings. Monitoring Expiration dates and giving meds., Checking GB residuals  and monitoring GT feeding, IPV/ Resp. TX's monitoring chest sounds before and after resp. TX's. and GB feeds. Giving care as ordered/planed for the night. Keeping patients airway clear and functioning properly though trach care, suctioning trach/nose, monitoring vital signs, ventilator settings, I&O's ,and proper diets. Bath, Trach care, GB care, with insertion when needed, giving poistion changes and providing ADL's as needed. Explaining/teaching patient and family concerning any changes. Ongoing charting during shift with all observations/interventions with patient.  Read stories and offering play as appropriate.  Wash supplies clean and put away, clean area, wash and put away laundry. At the end of shift report off on any changes and current status to oncoming nurse, check vent. settings together and chart settings.
     Learning is always ongoing usually though solving problems though reading, phone calls with RN, respiratory therapist, pharmacy, and doctors. 
     The most difficult part of my job is when my patient is not doing well and working alone.
     The most enjoyable part of my shift is interacting with the children and feeling I am making a positive difference in their lives.

I would not recommend taking an office position with Angels of Care in Pennsylvania. The turnover rate speaks for itself. We are about halfway into 2026 and have probably lost like 1/3 of the entire staff at this point in the last few months. It becomes very clear why people do not stay.

The workload placed on office staff is unreasonable compared to the pay. You are expected to juggle constant scheduling issues, family communication, nurse communication, onboarding, documentation, insurance-related tasks, and daily problems that require immediate attention, often without the proper support or structure to do the job well. For the amount of responsibility involved, the compensation is not even close to worth it.

There is also little to no room for internal growth. If you work hard, take on extra responsibility, and prove yourself, there does not seem to be a clear path for advancement. It can feel like you are expected to keep giving more without any meaningful opportunity to move up, be developed, or be compensated fairly.

The biggest issue is the lack of real leadership in the state of Pennsylvania. There does not seem to be a clear direction, strong support system, or accountability from upper management. Office staff are left to carry an overwhelming amount of pressure while leadership fails to address the root problems. This creates burnout, frustration, and constant turnover. Leadership was much better and more supportive in early years of AOC - prior to 2026.

There are good people who work there, and many of the nurses and families deserve better, but from an office employee perspective, I would strongly caution anyone considering a position there. The low pay, excessive workload, lack of growth, poor leadership, and high turnover make it not worth it.

I have had the pleasure of working with Angels of Care Pediatric Home Health, and I must say it has been a truly rewarding experience. The company provides an exceptional environment that fosters both professional growth and personal satisfaction, making it a great place to work.

The office support staff is incredibly supportive and efficient. They work diligently to ensure that all administrative tasks are handled smoothly, allowing the clinical team to focus on providing the best care possible to our patients. Their dedication and positive attitudes contribute significantly to the overall harmony and productivity of the workplace.

I would also like to commend our Chief Nursing Officer, who exemplifies leadership and compassion. Their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care is both inspiring and reassuring. They are always approachable, willing to listen, and provide valuable guidance to the nursing staff.

The Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Manager are equally impressive in their roles. Their expertise and supportive nature create an encouraging work environment where everyone feels valued and motivated. They are instrumental in ensuring that our team remains cohesive and focused on our shared mission of providing top-notch care.

Overall, Angels of Care Pediatric Home Health is a fantastic place to work, where each team member is appreciated, and excellence is a shared goal. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a fulfilling career in pediatric home health care.

This is my third home health agency I’ve worked for and have left my previous two for other issues that conflicted with my schedule at the time, the pay is a bit more than my last 5$ more an hour to be exact, but I fought tooth and nail for my hourly rate, the worst communication I’ve ever experienced, not only do they not communicate effectively with patient’s families  or nurses they leave you to FIGURE IT OUT on your own, the training is pathetic, I’m happy to say that other agencies have groomed me well enough to know what I’m doing but there have been nurses that have been sent to homes and I’ve heard horror stories of them not even knowing how to clock in, management is no help there may be only one person in the entire office of San Antonio that will answer their extension, they don’t allow nurses to have enough “scenarios” or mock up patients to do charting, they are given a copy of an outdated paper and expect them to turn in something, I’m truly sad to say this is a current company I work for, my patient and family are awesome and I only stay for them.To future RN’s or LVN’s your better off applying somewhere else, every agency will lack something but this one lacks it all. They hire more nurses who just sit waiting to be placed on  a case, they need to clean house starting from management and work their way down, if a member of your team especially a NEW field nurse reaches out to a member of management to ask for help the first response shouldn’t be “you should have learned that in training” or “you signed the skills check of so you should know”, management or whoever needs to do a better job or retaining nurses, keeping them motivated and training them properly.

I really love Angels of Care because you really get to know the client and their family since you have time for them unlike in other healthcare settings. Each case/client is different and every day is different. Some days are long ,some days are short. Some days go by smooth some days are total chaos. It just all depends on the client and their needs. I definitely have learned to have more patience and be a more go with the flow kinda person. As well as being confident in my skills as a nurse since it is normally just you and the client in the home with no back up. The hardest part of the job is knowing  that once my client becomes an adult, he will probably no longer qualify for services, and I will not be able to continue taking care of him. The most enjoyable part of the job is watching my client grow and see how he is  developing as a young adult and seeing how sweet and caring he is. I know I played some role in his development and it makes me happy knowing he has turned out to be an amazing person. Anytime I need anything the office is only a phone call or text away. The office is very good about checking in on my client as well as me and ensuring we have everything we need. I have never been told I could not take vacation or I could not take time off if I needed to. I love that with my client I do not have to work weekends or holidays and it is up to my discretion if I want to.

I started with loads of excitement for this position and felt confident with the team and my immediate superiors. However, besides the pleasure of taking care of some challenging patients in their homes and forming special relationships, this organization is too volatile for true job satisfaction in an inherently difficult field with high staff turnover rates.  Frankly, the corporate mission statement does not align with corporate practice and there is a severe lack of corporate transparency.  The office staff here in Denver are amazing and even the direct managers here really demonstrated an interest in the success of field staff. But, the support from corporate is Never there.  There is little to no structured orientation/training. The time off policy is not the best out there and there is a constant push from corporate for field clinicians to engage in marketing activities to increase their census.  I was lucky to have some awesome experiences, a great Director of Nursing, and learned a ton. However, I saw two DONs and Admins leave during my 8 month stay, high staff turnover, and a general sense of dissatisfaction with policies and processes that are out of touch with the reality on the ground here in Denver.
