Working at Anika started off fine. Work load wasn’t too bad, the manufacturing team was easy to work with and everyone got along with each other. You would go in and do your 8 hours and then leave at the end of your shift. At some point, management started making terrible business decisions and most of the team started to question how long this company would be around for. Management would delay the manufacturing process and then expect you to stay until it was completed. After I explained to the production manager that I could not stay after hours due to personal issues I was dealing with at the time, he would harass me everyday in front of other employees and demand that I get a doctor’s note if I could not work overtime. He would hover around the punch clock to see if I was leaving at the end of my scheduled shift. Everyone else had the option to stay late if they wanted to, but for some reason I was being singled out. This was a great company to work for until they started to disregard work/life balance.

Intimidating atmosphere to keep the greedy, uncaring CEO happy. HR will tell you to suck it up if you have any complaints. They'll lie to you coming in the door of how great the place is, only to suck you in to do three people's jobs. It's a revolving door company. They whittle away perks every year and take more paid time off away from you. If you there for more than a year, you're a veteran. Backstabbing co-workers. Everyone looks out for themselves. The "It wasn't my fault" philosophy lives well here. If you're w
looking for a work through intimidation kind of workplace, then this is for you. If not, you will not stay long. Good luck. They should merge with a bigger company, which is the long talked about rumor, so they can clean house in upper management.

Learn what you can and move on. There are better companies that pay what you deserve. Upper management doesn’t care about you. Good crew and leads. Do your job and you’ll be left alone with no micromanagement (except packaging ).

Upper management changes rules and policies without asking how it will affect you. 

Anika Therapeutics is a disaster. Very poor onboarding, lack of clear job expectations, ineffective communication and absence of oversight. My DM was unclear in her direction, and attempts to clarify responsibilities were met with dismissiveness. The facility and office were outdated and rundown. The rank and file manufacturing techs were good, hardworking people that could thrive at a more professional company with better management. 

A typical day at Anika could be busy or not much to do.. all depend in what department you are working. There are some area that have a lot work to get done, and others that do not have much to do but the personnel are in there just in case you need them. For those people that are working direct with the manufacturing process do not have quality time with the family because always is something to do. I believe the higher management do not realize these details. However is a growing company with good products.

The management's long-term vision is not clear, neither from the perspective of personnel roles nor from the perspective of business development, which has been changing abruptly and continuously for years.
HR in this company is totally absent, acts on behalf of superiors, ignores confrontation and pushes people to leave if they are not happy with the environment they work in.

In my 5.5 years of working at Anika which included the first two years as contractor, I learned a lot from my colleagues. I even kept in touch with my supervisor after I left for other opportunities. Basically the work was not bad. It was the compensation as well as the turnover was the reasons I finally had enough. Otherwise, I would have stayed there until I retire. 

Everything I did at the job was easy. It was the timing of when the product was coming in took a longer time for us to finish the product. I am neutral with everyone so the work environment was very friendly in my point of view. Every Thursdays came the ice cream truck for break. Overtime some days and weekends.

Anika has a lot of frustrations (as an employee) because of the lack of systems, communication, & personnel. We used to have company-wide meetings quarterly to update us on the business and those have disappeared. The Sr. team hides up in their fancy suite and you never see them. A few of the Sr. team members don't even seem to have a purpose. Overall, there is a lot of dysfunction and I would not recommend working here.

Overall, the pay was average, the group of people were nice, and it was a supportive atmosphere.

I had the opportunity to learn a very complex manufacturing process. This experience helped me become a very meticulous and diligent worker.
