It’s easy for some folks to leave an employer and immediately unleash negativity. Highlighting what in many cases were micro events at the end of a journey that went under-appreciated by one or both parties. This review will focus on the flip side of that coin, a reflection of my ongoing journey with this incredible company. The past 26 years have molded a great deal of my success professionally. Opportunities that started with the trust our company’s leadership extended to a young, inexperienced but ambitious young man. Opportunities to grow and to fail … to learn and to teach … to create and inspire. The road has been long and fruitful. Not an easy road, bumpy at times, but one that led to some really neat destinations so long as you didn’t fear the uncertainty of the journey. I started at entry level position as an Answering Service Operator, with zero knowledge of the industry or experience as an operator, and worked for 3 years in that role. I established friendships that remain to this day, and learned many lessons from some really great team members early on. I embraced failure, accountability and perseverance through missed opportunities to grow (3 failed attempts to earn a leadership role in my early years). I embraced curiosity as I surrounded myself with smart people and sponged in their moments of education. I embraced the uncomfortable moments that pushed me to rise above the challenges we faced. I embraced the opportunity to share and teach others lessons in life and business as I grew as a leader. It’s been absolutely rewarding to sit back and admire the people I work for and alongside (and the many amazing relationships that grew here and continued to blossom beyond our time working together)  … and our accomplishments past, present and future (as yes we have lots more pages to fill out in our Journeys). It was clear early on the importance of family and culture at our company, a core value that remains to this day. Small details engrained in memory such as a young man mourning his father’s death 24 years ago being approached by a company executive just to put a hand on his shoulder and talk. Moments that stick to the heart and fuel loyalty many moons later. This is an amazing place for the curious, caring, accountable, helpful and ambitious souls who wish to learn, and fail, and get back up and grow … and one day get to sit back and share their journey as well. 

This job involved taking messages for multiple businesses on different message delivery platforms depending on the business you are taking calls for. The training was thorough and as accommodating as can be and the trainers and managers do their best to break down the process of all you will be doing because they really want you to succeed and do well. I think the job is perfect for a tech savvy individual who is quick on their feet and able to work in a fast paced environment. You must be able to digest multiple personalities in regards to the clients that call in to get their messages and the customers who are leaving them. You can be taking messages for anyone between a doctor to a property manager of a large complex to a nail salon owner. There is a massive range because they service a large clientele base nationwide so be prepared for variety. Overall, no real drawbacks working for my location as a remote employee you just have to posses the temperament to engage with a wide variety of scenarios though some may become routine as time go on. If you're a go getter, have thick skin, are highly organized with the ability to keep up with fast paced systems to meet to standards of the position, go for it!

I love working at ASC, they are my second family. I started as an agent and moved up to be a supervisor. To succeed at ASC or any company, be honest and work your hardest to succeed, don't give up when you feel like you have failed. Put in what is expected of you and you will love having a career here. Employees have an option to work part-time and full-time positions, so there is a great work/life balance if you are going to school or if you have kids. The managers are reasonable. You will be expected to take scripted calls through out your shift in a call center environment, follow instructions from upper management, be patient, be helpful, take breaks as scheduled, be friendly, empathetic, disciplined and calm with irate callers or under pressure, be reliable and dependable at work on time, always be on your best behavior as it really shows through the phone and our job is to take calls. If you love to be in an office environment, this is a perfect position for you. Another great thing about working here, since we take calls for over 2,000 different companies, you learn how other businesses work; either for a hospital, lost or found pets, attorney or even a plumber. So it benefits you and you gain knowledge for a lifetime. I am very grateful and proud to be a part of the WA team.

A typical day at work for me was literally taking care of callers and clients. It wasnt stressful in the beginning it was fun. I loved my job now it's looking at work chat on a daily basis and people squealing in each other because no one cares anymore the incentives are gone. They say yes you can make up to such and such a hour but then give impossible metrics to meet unless you hold calls. Before I was making bonus everytime now its unreliable and just base pay. The 30 minute lunch you used to get unpaid is now an 15 minute paid break if you are part time. And the call flow isnt matching up you could literally have slow days to fast days. I learned though this is the nature of the beast and I need to be somewhere that doesnt rely on a call volume and where I am not just a number. Management for the most part is okay I mean they vary but some people who were my managers just left. I believe they may be trying to also phase out remote workers but they're really going about it the wrong way especially since that's who they advertised to before.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting new employees on zoom. This is not a well organized company. One of the top managers has a 💩 emoji beside her email profile picture. Real professional or not.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The offices are under staffed and I was told that Ugg slides were not professional but Crocs were. Manager rarely came in to work, so when new employees came in to interview over zoom (which they could have easily did from home) other employees were required to stop working and assist, with no extra compensation they say. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Petty and not professional, with no management to assist when in house issues with systems are constantly occurring. Manager decided to work from home when air conditioner was not working properly but office employees had to work in hot office with a small fam, while temps hit 100* inside office, instead of sending everyone home.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most days were ok, I personally enjoyed working with callers, not office staff so much.

I’ve been working at this company for about 7 months. This is the first call center that I have ever worked for. This is a fairly easy job. The job consists of answering incoming calls and taking messages from the callers and then relaying those messages to the company, which is what makes it unique from other call centers. You usually answer for different companies like a lawyer’s office, medical, construction or property management so your calls vary and you do not feel like it is repetitive. Your role for the company is usually the answering service or receptionist. Occasionally, you may get a few irate callers but it is not often. From day one the trainers explained that the company is like a family and after working here for 7 months I can honestly agree with that statement. The training staff does an amazing job with training the operators. The managers are very easy going and are always available to answer questions and to support you. This company offers opportunity for advancement as well as opportunity to pick up overtime hours if needed.

Working at the Answering Service Care has been a blessing. The work itself is not hard once you get the hang of it plus everyone is super helpful. The managers are all really nice and want you to succeed because then the company as a whole will succeed. Your schedule is steady, same amount of hours you signed up for, same days off so you can plan your life accordingly. The job is 24 hours so it's flexible enough to work around your schedule. People typically work here for longer than 2 years and they give you benefits like paid time vacation and PTO time as well as even allowing you to pick your schedule and have days off back to back if your scores and attendance are consistent. They recognize people's birthdays and anniversaries and give you bonuses for them. The company does its best to make everyone feel welcomed and like Family and that is truly amazing.

I was furloughed from my previous job during the pandemic. When I heard about the opportunity of becoming an Answering Service Agent; I was a little unsure. I started as an on-call agent and have been growing since. The training and support have been great. There is always support when you need it. I really love the work that I do here. Each call is different. We are supporting business owners with their business needs along with providing our client's clients with immediate attention by answering their calls and relaying their needs to the businesses they are calling. It is a rewarding feeling for me to make a difference in someone's day. They may be upset when I take the call but have them calm and in a better place by the end of the call. I have enjoyed my time with Answering Service Care, and I am happy to say that I have found my new 'Career Home'. One last bit of information is that every member of the leadership team started out as an agent and grew from there. There is truly a sense of family and support at Answering Service Care.

I am going on my 30 years with Answering Service Care LLC and loving it! Yes, we have our ups and downs, but hey, if we didn’t, could you imagine how boring that would be?!

I walked into Answering Service Care as a teenager with more questions than answers. I found far more than a job, I found a family that believed in me before I fully believed in myself. Over the years, they didn’t just teach me how to answer calls, they taught me how to listen, how to lead, and how to serve.

I’ve had the privilege to learn every corner of the business from front line Customer Service to operations, quality, training, and account support and eventually stepping into sales leadership and software development. That kind of growth isn’t an accident here. It’s the result of leaders who take time to coach, who open doors, and who remind you that mistakes are part of learning. I’ve been encouraged, stretched, challenged, and celebrated sometimes all in the same week.

One of the first things you learn when you walk into the door here is the deeply rooted beliefs in a family culture. It's truly what makes this place special, as cliche as it may be it is truly one big family, we all know each other and we're all here to support each other. Here for good days and here for the bad days.
