I was honored and excited to become part of Apogee Physicians.  To build a career within the field.  To be a strong attributing factor to and with my collogues, other departments and to the organization as a whole.  

The physicians on site and upper management were very supportive and involved.  They were always willing to help and support where needed. Along with that the building is beautiful, they offer an onsite gym, putting green, outdoor deck space etc.  The work set up and office space is on point.  With that said, it is a wolf in sheep's clothing. 

The position started out with flaws from the get go with a lack in professional job skill training.  When bringing this to middle managements attention it was not taken well. From the get go a sense of not feeling safe to express ones self was depleted. It is a very clicky atmosphere and if you are not in you are out.  This makes for a very unhealthy work environment.  Middle management has gained their positions due to the time they have been at Apogee not because they have proven to be good leaders.  If only Apogee could see this oh how they would be so much more successful.  

I wish the organization the most success and I hope that there are new training, reviews etc. that go into building and improving management within all departments.  They have lost so many good people due to the lack in leadership.  If Apogee had true leadership I would still be there.  I truly enjoyed the position.

I was new to being a nocturnist.  It was overwhelmingly busy.  I was trying to develop a system to distribute patients evenly and in a timely fashion.  It wasn't always smooth.  However, I had a completely insubordinate APP that complained constantly about everything I did.  At every turn I tried to address the issues personally and with the program director.  Only to be told how I had to behave to suit her.  I never once felt supported or even HEARD.  I wrote emails above the PD to regional managers about the active issues and heard nothing.  I ultimately couldn't stand the constant confrontation and quit.  I was VERY well liked by staff (save for one).  Staff was never queried about their experiences with said APP (and there were many bad).  Staff was never queried about their experiences working with me.  To quote the only co-worker that made the effort to talk to me "there's drama at the top.  Why do you think we never spend time together outside of work?".  Overall, probably the worst work experience I ever had.  

Also be prepared to be micromanaged.  How to sit (sit down, lean forward- "it shows empathy"), use "plan of the day" pads to ALSO write down what you just told the patient/family", PD listens to your transfer calls, make a billing error and do a 1hour phone billing tutorial (over and over).

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at this company is that you work without anyone from management watching you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of this job is then constantly pushing the start dates back and you're waiting weeks to start work. Also the lack of training. They say they're gonna send someone to train you and once they get you there they decide that they're not gonna send anyone and they have your coworkers training you who don't really wanna do it and is giving you task to do and just saying do it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is very laid back. There alot of different cultures and for the most part everyone was friendly but overwhelmed 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The PICs I worked with works nonstop. No one ever takes a break. They eat at their desk and never leave the office

Pros: Flexibility in life/work balance. Can leave for the day in case of an emergency.
Cons: No possibility in job advancement. Your manager will tell to help other programs, even run another program in addition to your own, but with zero compensation. As a patient information coordinator, when you are hired on, you are not told that your wage will be capped. After speaking to different PIC's, I found we are all being paid differently. For example a PIC that has been working for Apogee for two years is only making $1 dollar less then a PIC that has been with Apogee for 8 years. And I found a PIC position starting out $1 less then a PIC that has been with Apogee for 9 years. While the CEO is purchasing 22,000,000 homes. Not even a cost of living raise. 

As with any contract staffing company they focus heavy on documentation and reimbursement over employee growth and communication about more clinically appropriate topics, but they are a good physician lead company to work for.  Pay is good, management nice.   Usual benefits minus student loan reimbursement or PTO. My only real complaint is scheduling and time off.  Asked for one day off all year and didn’t get it approved until the week before when I complained locally, but I had already changed my plans. I was cited by scheduling that it was because I didn’t give 90 days notice (it was about 85 days instead).  This type of treatment will make people feel easily disposable since the things employees care about most is pay and schedules.

I am motivated and possess a positive outlook and positive team attitude. I enjoy working in a team environment, and I have the desire to provide the highest level of customer service.

The hardest part of the job is making sure the providers are doing a thoroughly job with patients and that they personally are communicating effectively with each other.

Most enjoyable part of my job is helping someone with health issues and being able to assist my providers better with there job.

The company is micro-managed. Very little support on site. No room for advancement and pay increases. The company and managers do not take in consideration of the PICS who work at each site and the site's individual needs. They overload us with work and show zero encouragement. The training process is a joke, they basically throw you in a position with a manual and have on the job training with unqualified co-workers.Taking a vacation puts your co-worker in a bad position because they are left working their schedule and accommodating your time off rather than them finding coverage.

The job is great and the providers are wonderful.  If you need anything from the managers who are not on site, good luck.  The managers play favorites and if you have a member of your family in management, you're set and can get away with a lot.  If you are not a favorite, the only support is available from the providers in your on-site office.  Apogee is happy as long as there is one PIC is available...they do not care and will tell the PIC to work everyday with no time off if no one else is available or figure the schedule out.

I loved working for Apogee. If the hospital had renewed Apogee’s contract, I would still be with them. Providers, Management, coworkers, all staff were a pleasure to work with. Everyone helped each other and had each other‘s back. There wasn’t any backstabbing, gossip, or favoritism. Apogee is a first class company to work for. Anyone who has an opportunity to be employed by them, one find themselves very lucky. The hours are wonderful, the pay is decent, there is enough work to keep you busy from the moment you walk in to the time that you leave. I can’t say enough about Apogee. All in all, a positive experience.

For the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area the pay is decent. The main issue I experienced was that Apogee has grown too quickly and has not trained any of their middle management to actually manage their employees. Not only did I experience this, but I had employees in other departments tell me the exact same thing. Very disappointing. Health insurance is not good. They don't do yearly reviews and you only have the opportunity for a small raise in the beginning but in my experience they didn't even follow through on that. My recommendation - do not work in the marketing department!
