When I started working at this company there were so many things to LOVE. They had free snacks and all you can drink coffee, the managers (at the time) were very nice, understanding, and positive in helping their teams succeed. The company its self was very about its employees and customers, understanding that accidents happen, and family is priority. But, then the moved happened December 2018. Customer Call Reps were moved out of the office from the Sales team to a new location near Shops of Legacy. Within the first 2 months, id say about 60% of the OG call center reps (who had been with the company 3+ years) left the company. I do not believe that is only because of the location change. I did not know at the time one of the managers was promoted to Supervisor.. over the course of the next few months more and more reps left or were fired. Coffee was now complete trash. Turn over rates started going through the roof. Managers now had to be more strict on performance numbers resulting in less care for the customers. Then our jobs started moving to 5 star somewhere in S. Carolina? The office employees during this time were getting sadder and sadder, customers were getting angrier and yelling more on the phones causing some of our call times to go up, unacceptable.
The more understanding less strict managers were let go. The call center got quieter, and quieter, until there were days with very little calls. I personally started helping out the online maintenance request division (where customers submit online maintenance requests instead of calling them in), and did very well. The managers did not recognize that I was doing well in this area, and instead of permanently transferring me to that department, they let me go, with 3 other people that day. I think the company was originally what millennial's have been looking for, but something changed and I would no longer recommend this company as a pleasant place to work. 
Not to mention, people in the office who were talking about leaving, stated that a bunch of the OG reps who left right after the move went to a competitor company that paid more.

AppFolio is a solid company with a strong focus on innovation and improving the property management experience for clients. The onboarding process is thorough, and employees are given the tools and training needed to succeed in their roles. The work environment is collaborative, with team members willing to share knowledge and help each other when needed. While the company has a lot of positives, like a focus on client success and efficient processes, the fast-paced environment can sometimes feel overwhelming. Clear communication between teams can also be a challenge at times, especially when working across departments. Overall, AppFolio offers good opportunities for growth and a chance to work with a forward-thinking product. It's a good fit for those who enjoy problem-solving, working with technology, and thrive in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.

AppFolio is a great place to work, the environment is fun yet professional at the same time. The office set up is not the typical cubicle layout that you see in many companies. There are brightly colored walls with murals, desks that raise and lower so you can sit or stand, interior walls made of glass so everyone is visible, a ping pong table and a kitchen filled with free drinks/snacks. Employees are expected to work hard but we have fun while getting the job done. My co-workers are good people that make me laugh on a daily basis. My team is very helpful and always happy to assist each other. My boss is great. He listens to my feedback, consistently gives me feedback, challenges me to be better at my job and works with me on my skill set to develop my career.  Overall AppFolio is a positive/focused environment. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a fun yet challenging place to work.

AppFolio is a great place to work – even as a full-time remote employee. We work hard but are rewarded and recognized for that work, and when we take time off we are able to fully disconnect. We do meaningful work for our customers and care about the end product. It's always clear that there are humans behind the product – whether it be service, sales, or development. Rapid growth, so many opportunities for growth. Sometimes it does feel like we keep our teams lean a little too long, but that makes it so there's never a dull moment.

Teamwork is the order of the day. They believe in the agile mindset so they expect everyone to share in the dream and pull their weight, though sometimes it is unclear why and in what direction to move; they let speed dictate too often. Feedback is plentiful and constructive so you never feel belittled and everyone is encouraged to come as their true selves and to contribute.

A good place to learn and solve interesting problems, but the culture has been going downhill.  My direct manager is great to work with but the rest of the environment (led by his boss) doesn't feel safe or stable. Tired of hearing lies about why people are leaving. Sucks being scared to be honest and not trusting people. I think they are missing accountability at the top so any of us could be next to be fired or pushed out for no good reason.  Hope things will turn around soon, and better leadership can take over.

Overall the experience was meh. It's a 24-7 call center environment and if you get lucky or are bilingual you could get an optimal shift. If you are "ok" with a later shift expect to be married to it. The pay is minimal and there are very little opportunities for advancement within AppFolio if you don't have a bachelors degree. I heard one manager say that they are highly overpaid and reps are highly underpaid. Probably explains why they have such high attrition. I've also heard them justify the low pay scale by offering free snacks, good insurance, and 180 hours of PTO. The latter two was great, but free snacks? C'mon man, that won't pay rent.
