At the time I am writing this, I am a security officer for the AZ Dbacks. I heard about the Dbacks hiring through a friend before the 2021 season began. I applied online and about a day or two, I got a call and had a phone interview. When that call was about to end, I was invited for a second interview via Zoom with the Security manager. He is a nice gentleman and I think the interview went a lot better than I expected. I had only worked one other security job but I had 9 years of military service. If you're looking to get in to sports medicine, sports management or law enforcement, working for the Dbacks is an excellent way of doing so. They like to promote from within. Everyone on staff, for most part, are friendly and nice people. You get to pick what days you want to work; work 2 games minimum a month to stay on the pay roll. You can also ask for extra hours or go full time. I didn't follow baseball much before working here, but now I do a bit. While at work, I get to enjoy the game, although I find it more interesting to watch the fans to make sure they are being safe. I enjoy working for the Dbacks at Chase Field. 

As a GSR your work day is pretty easy going. You might be scanning tickets for incoming guests. This usually makes the time go by pretty fast on busy days. It can be pretty uncomfortable on hot days, but management does what it can to keep everyone safe. There's always a few gsr's assigned to walk around and pass out water to workers during the shift. Working at a portal is my favorite. This is when you are assigned a certain section to stand and answer questions from guests and basically just be available for any questions. When the game begins you pretty much just enjoy the game! You might get assigned to watch an elevator, escalator, or securing a door. This is very boring as you cannot see the game and usually there isn't a tv near to see the game televised either.  Management is amazing. They will work with you on just about anything you might need. Whether its time of or needing to leave early. There are so many GSR's working each game they can always find someone to cover for you. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks created an amazing work place. Every day that you would go to work you could expect to see something different. They were able to make it a very fun place to work by having many different little activities to relive you of stress such as ping pong and mini basketball. Also working in a locker room gives you the sense of everyone working together for the same goal. This creates a very large dependency on your co workers. It made me feel like I was working with friends rather than just co workers. Working so close with these people lets you create a very strong work force.  I would happily recommend this job to anyone that is involved with sports or has a passion for sports. It allows you to create a living around a sport that brings people together. It was always a dream of mine to play baseball for a professional baseball team so for me this was about as close as I could get without actually having a position on the roster. This job literally did make my dreams come true.

There is a lack of support from upper management, including the People and Culture (HR) team. While they publicly emphasize diversity and inclusivity, the reality is very different. For example, suppose an employee chooses not to wear the Pride shirt. In that case, they are immediately singled out and labeled as an outsider, which contradicts the very principles of inclusivity the organization claims to uphold.

The company also works employees to the bone and then attempts to “reward” them with pizza or another food provided by a corporate sponsor—something that costs the organization nothing. This is framed as recognition, but it feels hollow and does not truly reflect the time, effort, and dedication employees put in.

On top of that, there is a gross amount of favoritism with the upper management, including HR. Hard work does not pay off, as advancement and opportunities often go to favorites rather than those who consistently deliver.

Working in the ticket office for the Arizona Diamondbacks is super fun. You get to interact with the excited fans who come up to buy tickets, you get to be around an amazing support system of great coworkers who all are great friends and love to be there. The management is a lot of fun to get to know and super helpful and supportive. The biggest downside (which is out of their control) is this is not a job to live on. You are only there for home games, so you only work two weeks out of the year. You can not live off of this job which is why the people who work there either are retired or have a priority outside of this job that they attend to and can not make all the home games that they have. So, I recommend this job. Just think of it though as a hobby, not your next job opportunity.

Taught children fundamentals and mechanics of softball.  I had to organize daily plans and programs for the kids to follow.  The manager was there to answer any questions, and to help supervise.  My co-workers were wonderful! They were full of so much energy, and very pleasant to be around.  The hardest part of my job was trying to integrate drills and programs to suit each individuals needs.  Not every child needed the same work as the others, so it was difficult trying to accommodate specific drills for each child.  The most enjoyable part of the job was watching all of the girls having fun while playing games.  I also love when they make me cards telling me they will miss me and that I was an awesome coach!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting new people everyday from all over. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only stress ful thing is guest would not want to stay in there seats and be at the wall. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's an amazing company that really cares for there employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Being there before the game to wipe and clean seats, briefing meetings at the start of each shift. Pointing out seats for customer scanning tickets and answering any and all questions.

The customers appreciate me helping them and letting them know about the ballpark and purchasing options.

I enjoy the company.

I've worked there since the 1st season.  That's why I stayed.

Compensation:  tickets to games.  No Medical or paid time off.

Job Security/Advancement: I enjoyed the level of my job, not looking to be a manager.

Job Culture: Enjoyable environment.

My department holds very short daily meetings at the start of work day. These meetings are a simple run down of what needs to be done during the day along with updates on longer projects. This approach allows us to work at a very consistent pace where we very rarely need to put a rush on a project. The position is physical in nature, but safety is always a priority over the deadline.

No stress working in guest services

Very busy  taking tickets or helping guests find there seats  but the culture is friendly  and energetic

Greeting  fans and assisting them finding the best food or showing them there seats
