Everyone in the clinic was really professional and nice. There was a lot of patient confidentiality and team work. I learned how to work with others and to how to help others when needed. All of my co-workers had the patience to show me everything I needed to know since day one in this job. All the Doctors whom I worked with had a good heart and demonstrated their love towards their patients. All the Physician Assistants really helped me fix my mistakes with out being cruel about it. I learned a lot from working in this Orthopedic Department. I really loved the ambient feeling between the supervisors, doctors, nurses. and patients. The hardest part of the job was that you had to room every patient and take all their vitals as fast as you can in a professional manner because there would be days that we would be backed up so much. The most enjoyable part of the job was every Friday because we got to see staple removals, and screw removals. The customer service was really nice and informative with each and every single patient there was from Kids to the Elderly. A typical day at work was to log in to your computer, check all the rooms to see of any debris was showing and if there was to clean it then check for patient charts and call the names of the patients if there was rooms and if not just wait for available space then go back to your desk and receive calls, schedule appointments, and deal with insurance companies.

The more experienced nurses eat their young. Bullying at its finest in this place and you don’t get any support from management. If you make a mistake they will point it out to you in front of your other coworkers. The charge nurse will yell at you and degrade you in front of everybody else. 
Some of the surgeons assume they’re always right. Some surgeons will treat you like dirt if you don’t know what they like, they expect you to know everything. If you don’t know certain services the more experienced nurses think you’re stupid and will gossip about you at the lounge. Lunch hour is so toxic that you don’t even want to eat at the break room. 
Night shifts are lazy, they’ll give the cases to newer people (or to the people who are not in their clique) and would sit around in the break room. 
The managers are too scared to take any actions and they’re so short on people. Charge nurse on Sunday would call the on call people because they’re “charging”. They’ll keep you for 12-16 hours on Sundays and expect you to comeback on Monday and work your regular shift. 
I’m not one to complain, I know there’s no such thing as a perfect place to work, but the politics is too much. 
I love some of my coworkers, they’re very supportive and very encouraging. I just don’t like it when they get bullied for speaking out their mind and trying to stand up for themselves. 
Sadly, people are leaving left and right because of burnout and bullying. And management wonder why they can’t retain employees.

Busy clinic.  Internal Medicine was a clinic with around 10 specialties and was busy from opening to closing everyday. But that made our day go by fast.  We had a great team that made the best to assist our patients and physicians.  We vitaled all patients to have them ready for their appointment's. Performing ekg's, having lab and x-ray results ready and assisting with small procedures, e.g. infections, pap smears, etc. And most of all translating spanish for non-english speaking patients. My supervisor would arrange for pharmaceutical companies to come give informational meeting on new medications coming out on the market and they would bring in lots of food and this would make it really nice and relaxing to learn about these medications. In this department is where I learned the true meaning of "team work".

They do not tolerate anyone with their own opinion and  if you voice your own opinion, you will be ousted  immediately. It is told to you in orientation that they do not tolerate anyone  who objects to their processes or has any sort of objection to their status quo. They're all a bunch of little soldiers marching in line. The place is a disorganized mess as a result of this. They are wasteful with their resources, especially paper. For example:  Assignments are printed and distributed to each employee for their breaks,  twice a night and If there is a mistake,  they are reprinted and re-distributed to each employee again every night versus being posted somewhere where each person can just go look at it like adults. They must go through 100 sheets of paper just writing out your break each night. What a waste of county resources at the taxpayers expense!  Are you required to function without being given the necessary tools to function, I.e. no passwords, no access. Then, when you ask for help nobody wants to help you, especially when they are busy.  And everybody looks up at you like you're just slow. Worst experience of my life! Disorganized mess!

As an intern at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, my typical day consists of meetings and projects. I am currently shadowing the hospital administrator of the organization. I am able to experience how meetings are conducted and how conclusions are come for the betterment the organization. Most importantly, I am able to assess relationship dynamics among the many employees. I have come to understand developing relationships with co-workers and collaboration are extremely important in the progress of an organization. I would also have to say that this can be the hardest part of the job, as forming cordial relationships is not always the easiest. Management was in transition between CEO's, but seemed to handle it very well at a strenuous time within the organization. 

I've learned that one can learn from every person they come across during a time at an organization and I was fortunate to have a great mentor in the seasoned hospital administrator I am under at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Let me start off by saying my colleagues and I love our job and what we do for our patients especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, we've got one of the worst and least supportive administrations in our hospital. Due to the fear of retaliation and lay off, we did not have any other platform besides this to express our sincere concern. The CEO, Mr. Gilbert, never once visited the inpatient service during this pandemic yet we hear him saying " We are all in this together ". No, Mr. Gilbert, you are NOT. We are sacrificing our lives every day while you work from your office. We are emotionally and physically drained. It's very offensive when you say that. Your new Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Goldfrach, when he used to visit the hospital, he was either only pay attention to his phone, or was in rush to leave. While you are receiving a generous paycheck out of the county taxpayers' money and working at your convenience from your office, we are struggling with long hour shifts, sick patients on the floor, surge in a number of COVID patients, lack of proper PPE and emotional support. NO, WE ARE NOT IN THIS TOGETHER !!!

As a rad tech student for 2 years, you essentially work as free labor. Older staff are stagnant and don't follow JRCERT accreditation rules for supervision, allowing for multiple violations per day. School management creates violations with poor scheduling of classes and clinical shifts even though they're in-house and should be able to work the two together better. Instead, school management blames hospital management and the other does the same. 
As a student you can work your heart out and they'll still hire based on management's favoritism, choosing other candidates that have social connections or always reject candidates that they have a personal grudge against. 
On the other hand, you can get away with nearly anything since nobody follows the rules. You also get to see a lot because the hospital does nearly everything. Discipline yourself and maintain your own standards of care and ethics and don't let anyone else drag you down to their level and you'll still get good experience.

One of the best, if not the best, hospitals I have ever worked at. From the moment I joined, I was welcomed into a supportive and collaborative environment. The culture here is truly outstanding—there’s a genuine sense of teamwork and respect across all departments. Whether you're working alongside doctors, nurses, or support staff, everyone is dedicated to providing the best care possible. What's most impressive is the constant support from all levels of leadership, always encouraging professional growth and offering resources to help employees succeed. The management is approachable, listens to feedback, and genuinely cares about the well-being of their staff. It’s rare to find such a positive, inclusive workplace in healthcare, and it makes a huge difference in how we provide care to our patients. Overall, I feel proud to be a part of this organization and couldn’t ask for a better work environment.

As an 'employee' at ARMC I find the work environment comfortable and the staff are wonderful people to be around, they are respectful and kind to their co-workers. However I must say that I wish this were the same for the patients, during my hours of work I witness patients being ignored, treated unfairly or disrespectfully, it seems as if they don't even matter much. Now I don't mean to say that that goes for every single employee or patient, but as an overall view I am disappointed to say their are more negative comments than good ones. I love working with patients in the E.R, getting to know them, what exactly is troubling them and seeing how I can help. the same goes for the patients in Labor and Delivery, I enjoy congratulating new mothers and welcoming their precious gifts into their new world. I find so much joy when I can help others, not only patients but my co-workers as well.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is a county hospital with friendly employees who are very helpful to patients. In the Sterile Processing department, I would rotate between decontamination, prep and pack, sterilizer and pulling cases. Doing my externship at Arrowhead, I learned how to properly follow the protocols to ensure patient safety as well as take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of myself as well as other employees. The workplace environment is very diverse. The hardest part of the job was trying to understand employees that have heavy accents. I overcame this challenge by repeating to the person what I thought they said and eventually figuring out what was said. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing I did my job safely and accurately. Management were very helpful when it came to training me and answering any questions I had.
